Cloud Gardens Switch Release Date Delayed

Meditative sandbox experience about using the power of nature to overgrow dioramas of urban decay needs a little more time to germinate

Gateshead, United Kingdom – May 10th, 2022 – Due to a minor backend issue, Coatsink and Noio are sorry to announce that their chill title about using the power of nature to reclaim beautiful lo-fi scenes of urban decay, Cloud Gardens, will be delayed on Nintendo Switch. The game was previously set to launch on 12th May 2022, but due to this minor setback it needs a bit more time to grow. Unfortunately a new release date can’t be announced just yet, so please stay tuned for more information which will be shared soon!

In this meditative title that embraces your creativity, create small plant-covered dioramas of brutalism and beauty by planting seeds, repurposing hundreds of discarded objects and creating unique structures for nature to reclaim.

Dive into a relaxing sandbox mode with no goals, or take on a multi-chapter campaign where the task is to strike a balance between the natural and the manufactured. Adding objects will encourage lush vegetation to grow, but each object must be covered in foliage in order to proceed.

Cloud Gardens hovers somewhere in between a sandbox toy and a game with challenges. Partly a gardening simulator, partly a dystopian landscape builder, and partly a puzzle game that is both satisfying and without frustration. It is a relaxing experience that takes you from one scene to the next while encouraging creativity and coming up with your own solutions.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak™ May Digital Event Debuts Fierce New Monsters, Combat Options, and Follower Quests Alongside New Trailer

London (10 May, 2022) During today’s Monster Hunter™ Digital Event, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yoshitake Suzuki provided fans with the most in-depth look at Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak™ yet, including an action-packed new trailer and game details. The duo unveiled three additional monsters, the new Switch Skill Swap ability, the new Follower Quests, and more information about the flagship Elder Dragon Malzeno. Finally, they revealed a stunning new Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controller featuring Malzeno which arrives alongside the massive expansion when it releases for Nintendo Switch™ and PC via Steam on June 30, 2022

The full digital event can be found on the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel.

Known as the “thousand-edged dragon”, the Flying Wyvern Seregios makes a triumphant return in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. This incredibly territorial combatant is known for its high-flying maneuvers and incredibly sharp Bladescales coating its body. Hunters caught unaware when Seregios sheds its scales run the risk of receiving the “bleed” status, so they should keep their weapons sharp and their wits sharper. In addition to returning monsters receiving new abilities and behaviors when appearing in Master Rank quests, two new subspecies for monsters introduced in Monster Hunter Rise will be arriving in the expansion. The newly unveiled Aurora Somnacanth releases a constant chilling mist that threatens to freeze anything that gets too close. This adaptation allows it to smoothly glide across ice to strike prey, and exhale a powerful ice breath. Magma Almudron on the other hand, prefers the intense heat of the Lava Caverns, and augments its attacks with molten stone to overwhelm any would-be hunters.

While all of these monsters are more than capable of bringing hunters to their knees, the Elder Dragon Malzeno has the capacity to bring entire kingdoms crumbling down. Malzeno commands a mysterious swarm of parasitic entities that capture and then absorb the energy of their prey. When engaging directly in combat, the Elder Dragon attacks with an elegance and ferocity worthy of its inspiration, the vampire. Once it inflicts its prey with the “bloodblight” status, the two begin a duel to determine whose life force will run out first. Should the hunter fail, Malzeno evolves into an even more terrible form to wreak havoc on their surviving foes.

In order to meet these calamitous forces head-on, hunters who arrive at Elgado Outpost will need to find new ways to approach combat. While Kamura village is renowned for its unique Wirebug techniques, including Silkbind Attacks and Wyvern Riding, hunters summoned to the Kingdom will learn new Switch Skills and also have the ability to use the new Switch Skill Swap ability. Switch Skill Swap enables hunters to assign Switch Skills to two different loadouts which can be changed on the fly during a hunt. The added flexibility of choosing which skills are best for any situation allows a practiced hunter to overcome almost any obstacle. Hunters who find themselves under attack while performing a Switch Skill Swap can also perform a Swap Evade in any direction to avoid danger, or reposition for a continued assault. Hunters interested in learning more about the new Switch Skills coming each of the 14 weapon types should head to the official Monster Hunter social channels starting on May 16 to catch a series of short videos exploring each weapon.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak also introduces new ways for players to bond with game’s charming cast of characters through new Follower Quests. These single player hunts allow players to accept and complete quests with their favorite story characters. Each Follower has their own specialization, and will even assist players by recovering their health, placing traps, and even riding monsters to turn the tide of battle. Members of Elgado Outpost such as Fiorayne, Luchika, Jae, Admiral Galleus, and Master Arlow will be accessible as Followers, in addition to members of Kamura Village such as Hinoa and Minoto. Players will unlock Followers as they progress through the story, and can even earn exclusive rewards for completing Follower Quests.

About Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak™ is the monstrous new expansion for Monster Hunter Rise, the critically-acclaimed and top-selling Monster Hunter™ title that released on Nintendo Switch in March 2021 and PC in January 2022. The expansion will include an all-new storyline with more new monsters, new additions to combat, the Master Rank quest difficulty, and more. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players with save data for Monster Hunter Stories™ 2: Wings of Ruin will also be able to unlock the Navirou layered armor for their palicoes when the expansion launches June 30, 2022 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

EA and FIFA Divorce: EA Announces EA Sports FC Branding; FIFA Finding New Partners

EA and FIFA’s long running relationship is coming to an end. FIFA’s alleged asking price for a new licensing deal was over $300 million USD was simply too rich according to reports to the New York Times. Unsurprising when compared to the $150 million USD EA paid for the previous deal. While no new deal was signed, EA and FIFA agreed to a short term extension of their existing deal that will allow EA to release FIFA 23 later this year.

EA has opted to drop the FIFA branding entirely. The new game will be called EA Sports FC. The experience will not change too drastically. EA still holds individual licenses with football clubs, player associations, stadiums, and leagues around the world; however, the loss of the FIFA branding will mean no World Cup. It will be interesting to see if EA will create its own branded tournament in the game for international play or avoid it all together for the upcoming game.

FIFA on the other hand is looking for new suitors. The association announced a more open licensing structure with the intention of partnering with multiple developers to produce FIFA-branded football games.

Since FIFA and EA agreed on a year-long extension to ensure the release of FIFA 23, FIFA will only be able to release non-simulation titles until 2024. Considering the 2022 FIFA World Cup is being held in Qatar between November 21st to December 18th, it’s very likely we will see at least one arcade-style game before the end of the year.

The million dollar question now is which developer will try to tackle EA Sports FC in 2024. Right now, there are two obvious options. Konami may try to take another shot at eFootball by partnering with FIFA. Alternatively, a major publisher with sports game experience like 2K may try to go toe to toe with EA. Regardless of the outcome, football fans will have a lot more choice when it comes to football games in the coming years thanks to the fallout of EA and FIFA’s divorce.

FIFA diversifies its gaming rights and launches new non-sim football games alongside EA SPORTS franchise

  • Non-exclusive model allows new games to launch ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™
  • Licence extension granted to EA SPORTS for simulation football category only, allowing the launch of FIFA 23 later this year
  • FIFA also engaging with publishers, studios and investors on development of major new simulation football title for 2024

For the first time, FIFA will launch new football video games developed with third-party studios and publishers, providing more choice for football and gaming fans in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

A number of new non-simulation games are already under production and will launch during the third quarter of this year. The first is a tailored gaming experience featuring the biggest event on earth, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, which will bring new, interactive experiences to fans across the globe.

Following this initial unveiling, FIFA will launch further games and virtual experiences around this year’s FIFA World Cup. Additional projects are also under discussion with publishers ahead of next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup™.

Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, said:

“I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST.”

“The interactive gaming and esports sector is on a path of unrivalled growth and diversification. FIFA’s strategy is to ensure we can make the most of all future options and ensure a wide range of products and opportunities for gamers, fans, member associations and partners.”

Alongside the new games, FIFA has granted a new short-term extension to existing publisher EA SPORTS to launch a new FIFA 23 title later this year, which will feature the men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup competitions in one edition for the first time.

The recently confirmed extension with EA SPORTS is a new arrangement that grants rights for the simulation football category only, freeing up broader gaming rights for FIFA and different gaming publishers to launch new games and more deeply immersive experiences for fans and football stakeholders.

This new, non-exclusive licensing model follows on from an extended period of discussions between the parties relating to FIFA’s future gaming vision. As announced in October 2021, FIFA intends to work with a range of partners rather than lock up all gaming and esports rights exclusively with one publisher for the long term.

As well as launching a portfolio of new games during 2022 and 2023, FIFA is currently engaging with leading game publishers, media companies and investors in regard to the development of a major new FIFA simulation football game title for 2024.

FIFA’s new gaming model has been developed in parallel with FIFA+, the recently launched direct-to-consumer media platform.
