Fresh video gives an ice cold look into how Earth became a white hell
Oberhaching, Germany, September 28, 2026 – The countdown to the frozen apocalypse begins. In merely eleven days, on October 9, 2026, the highly anticipated story-based survival sandbox Permafrost will open its Early Access gates. Experience a world covered in ice and snow and battered by constant sub-zero temperatures, where nature itself is out to kill you, making other dangers like wild animals and rivalling factions look like childs play.
But what lead to the catastrophe that sets the apocalyptic backdrop for this high octane survival experience? Development studio SpaceRocket Games and German indie publisher Toplitz Productions are proud to announce the release of the Story Trailer, giving you insights on Earth’s downfall and the collapse of civilization as we know it.
However, there still is a glimmer of hope. On October 9, you can take over the main character Rook and step into the white hell to find your friend Icarus, to unravel the mystery of the moon shattering and to help humanity cling on to existence. Try to survive alone, only with your trusty dog at your side or brave the cold with up to four survivors in co-operative multiplayer. Prove that you have what it takes to survive Permafrost.

SpaceRocket games was founded in 2023. However, the seeds of what would become the flagship project, Permafrost, were sown a bit earlier. Initially, in December 2022, a dedicated trio began to mold the prototype in a somewhat informal setting. Fast forward to the present, and our team has expanded to 15 members.
