Pom-poms Have Never Been This Deadly: Frenetic and Vibrant 2D Sidescroller Ra Ra BOOM Explores a Colorful Coming of Age Story Set to the Sound of Cracking Robot Skulls and Good Ol’ Fashion Pew-Pew and Boom-Boom Also, sick beats.
Cincinnati, Ohio (April 30, 2025) – Earth has been taken. A dutiful AI created to solve climate change has gone rogue, targeting the very civilians it was supposed to save. Only Aris, Saida, Ren and Vee, four teenage ninja cheerleaders from space, highly skilled in the art of ranged and melee combat, can get to Earth and reclaim the planet. They’ve been training their entire lives for this moment – and the moment is almost here. This is Ra Ra BOOM and it hits hard on PC, Xbox and PlayStation in August: https://linktr.ee/raraBOOM
This is not your average beat ‘em up. Ra Ra BOOM cooks with turbo-charged four-player co-op action, blending classic beat ‘em up gameplay with ranged combat in a lane-based 2D sidescroller. Today’s incredibly badass new trailer showcases the latest look at some of the game’s action – from enemies and bosses hellbent on keeping Earth under their control to our heroic cheerleaders from outer space who definitely aren’t going down without a fight:
Woven throughout this action-packed game is a surprisingly narrative-rich campaign, complete with 2D cinematic cutscenes in which each of our heroes experiences their own character arcs – anyone who has ever been a teenager can relate, even if they’ve never had to save the planet. Turns out that facing your demons might be harder than saving the planet.
In Ra Ra BOOM, each playable character also sports their own weapons and abilities, giving you four completely different, explosive takes on combat that, through a progression system, you can level up and gain new abilities and skills. Augmenting traditional beat ’em up gameplay with its unique integrated lane system, Ra Ra BOOM blends horizontal lanes naturally into its hand-drawn environments. Players are able to hone their skills in melee or ranged combat to deal furious blows, quickly switching between clearly defined lanes to never miss a beat, no matter which play style you prefer.
Ra Ra BOOM’s killer soundtrack doesn’t miss a beat either – with a non-stop score of heart-pounding, rock-tinged beats courtesy of DJ duo Toy District, made up of Gylee Games CEO Bergs and partner Dreweybear. Ra Ra BOOM keeps both the energy and the BPM sky high.
