Metal Gear Solid Delta Opening Movie Delivers Pure Fan Service

It’s been a few months since Snake last took the spotlight, and back in February, Konami finally revealed the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater during PlayStation’s State of Play. With the August 28 launch now drawing near, Konami is ramping up the hype once again. Today, the publisher dropped the official opening movie for the highly anticipated remake, and it’s packed with nostalgia-fueled fan service. The sequence was crafted by none other than Kyle Cooper, the acclaimed graphic designer behind iconic title sequences for The Mummy, Spider-Man, and, more importantly, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and the original Snake Eater from 2004.

But Konami didn’t stop there. The game’s new theme song is once again performed by Cynthia Harrell, marking a triumphant return for the vocalist whose performance of “Snake Eater” became an instant classic in gaming history. Together, Cooper and Harrell have delivered a truly cinematic opening that feels like a heartfelt tribute to Hideo Kojima’s signature style.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (Pre-order here) launches August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A Deluxe Edition packed with bonus content is already available for pre-order at retailers like Amazon for both PS5 and Xbox platforms. With this much attention to detail and reverence for the series’ legacy, it’s clear Konami wants to make sure this remake strikes a deep chord with longtime fans.
