La Motion Week Steam event brings new announcements and surprises for fans
Bordeaux, France (Oct. 3, 2024) – Independent French developer Motion Twin today revealed a number of new Windblown and Dead Cells announcements in honor of the start of the La Motion Week Steam event, running today through Oct. 10, 2024. Throughout the event, players can pick up the smash-hit rogue-lite Dead Cells with a 50% discount and celebrate new announcements for both the Dead Cells world and the upcoming, highly anticipated Early Access launch of Windblown.
Calling All Leapers – Windblown Release Date and Limited-Time Single-Player Demo Coming Soon
Windblown, the upcoming fast-paced rogue-lite by the creators of Dead Cells, launches in Early Access on Steam Oct. 24, 2024. Players will soon dash with speed through vast, ever-changing islands in the sky as they use a variety of powerful weapons and gear to destroy the Sentinels – deadly minions of the Vortex that threatens their home. Playable in both single player and with up to three players in co-operative online multiplayer, fans won’t have to wait long to dive into this original world where build synergy and fast reflexes are key to success.
Featuring unique biomes teeming with secrets and challenging adversaries, players will build their Leaper using dozens of different Weapons, Trinkets, Gifts and Fish to unleash their full potential and destroy the Sentinels… or die trying. Every death is a new beginning, as the Leaper’s mission is not over, learning from their mistakes, discovering new Memories to unlock even more build options in their arsenal and trying just one more run.
Players won’t have to wait until Oct. 24 to dive into Windblown though, as a new single player demo will be available during the upcoming Steam Next Fest, running Oct. 14 through Oct. 21. Players can take their first dashes through the opening stages of the game and try a sample of what the Early Access launch will offer, with their progression carrying over into the game on Oct. 24. Additionally, players who try out the demo will unlock an exclusive Guinea Pig skin for their character in the Early Access release, befitting their role as an early tester of the game’s countless challenges ahead.
Finally, fans can also tune in to the official Motion Twin YouTube channel this week to watch members of the development team play the game live, showing a new look at the game and testing their skills within the Vortex (and trying not to die in the process). Stream times and details will be announced soon on the official Windblown social channels.
Animated Series and Board Game Updates for Dead Cells Fans La Motion Week also celebrates new updates on previously announced Dead Cellsprojects, meaning fans of The Beheaded have even more to look forward to in the very near future.
Fans keen to explore more of the game’s universe following the recent release of Update 35 The End is Near can now watch the first episode of the English dub of Dead Cells: Immortalis, the animated series directed and produced by the studio Bobby Pills and the streaming platform ADN, in collaboration with Motion Twin and Evil Empire, from Oct. 8. Featuring a hilarious, original story about The Beheaded and his many deaths and misadventures, Dead Cells fans can soon enjoy this new look at the world and its many colorful characters, seeing familiar locations and stories in a whole new way. Additional details about the release of the full series will be revealed soon on the official Motion Twin social media channels.
Additionally, fans can also look forward to the upcoming release of Dead Cells: The Rogue-Lite Board Game, coming to select retailers Nov. 8 in France, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, United States, Canada, and Australia with Spain and China’s localized versions also coming next year. In this novel take on the Dead Cells formula, up to four players can each play as one of the four Beheaded and leap into a co-operative rogue-lite experience.
Players will explore a sprawling island, starting with the Prisoners’ Quarters, and slash their way through the malaise-infected horde of enemies all the way up to the High Peak Castle to defy the infamous Hand of the King… or die trying. The board game invites players to rediscover iconic biomes, monsters and weapons like never before, with completely reimagined visuals. In this unique board game adaptation, each run takes you further as every death makes you stronger. Players can unlock hundreds of weapons, mutations and skills in a game as rich and rewarding as the video game. Explore. Kill. Die. Mutate. Repeat.
