In a surprise move for fans of classic horror games WayForward has announced that they are teaming up with Limited Run Games to bring out an enhanced version of the original 1995 release of Clock Tower that was never previously released in the West in any official form. The companies will be releasing the game sometime in early 2024 for the Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and of course PC.
For those unfamiliar with this classic game, Clock Tower traps players in the haunting confines of the Barrows family manor, where they’ll be pursued by Scissorman, a murderous, shears-wielding psychopath. As teenage orphan Jennifer Simpson, players will use a point-and-click interface to explore the mansion and search every disturbing corner to find items, reveal secrets, and discover ways to survive Scissorman’s assaults. Without any offensive capabilities, Jennifer must rely on her wits and resourcefulness if she has any hope of escaping with her life and earning one of the game’s multiple endings.
The new release of Clock Tower will be handled using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine to retain the authentic gameplay, graphics, and sound of the original version while also adding new content such as a new vocal theme, animated opening, motion-comic cutscenes that will play before and at the end of the game as well as a bonus art gallery, save states, border artwork, and more.
