In celebration of International Museum Day, the third iteration of the award-winning Longest Night of Museums event features virtual tours of 19 of the world’s top naval museums alongside panel discussions, and exclusive Twitch interactive content drops
16th May – World of Warships (WoWS) is revealing the return of its third annual naval historical showcase Longest Night of Museums to mark International Museum Day. With 19 virtual tours of maritime museums, the Longest Night of Museums livestream event will take viewers around the globe, and feature informative discussion panels and Q&A sessions with special guests. Hosted on the World of Warships Twitch channel from May 18th at 20:00 AEST, the livestream event will also host interactive quizzes with special in-game prizes up for grabs, as well as plenty of dedicated Longest Night of Museums Twitch content drops.
The third instalment of Longest Night of Museums continues World of Warships’ mission to celebrate and support the work that naval museums and heritage sites do to preserve maritime history. Bringing together 19 different naval museums from around the world, Longest Night of Museums kicks off its 2023 event in Croatia, with Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, before taking audiences to Brazil, Netherlands, and Chile. Closing out the evening, additional tours will venture to HMS Belfast in the United Kingdom, before heading to the United States of America, Australia and South Korea, with a final tour at the Hamsang Park. “We’re immensely proud to be bringing back Longest Night of Museums for the third year running. What started off as a way to raise awareness about the challenges lot of museums had to face during the pandemic times has evolved into a fan favourite museum project says Marko Valentic, Global Business Development and Communications Director at Wargaming. “As the largest digital ship museum, World of Warships works closely alongside naval museums worldwide, both preserving and amplifying the historical legacy of these ships and the people who served on them. We’re excited to be joined by so many wonderful museums from around the globe and to celebrate International Museum Day with our community.”
Alongside these guided virtual tours, the Longest Night of Museums livestream event will also include a special screening of the documentary “Surrender on the USS Missouri”, from the event’s media partner MagellanTV followed by a discussion with the award-winning director Tim Gray, and discussion panels across the evening with the Historical Naval Ships Association and the United States Navy Institute, a long-time partner. Players who tune into the livestream on Twitch can also get involved, as World of Warships will be releasing three different free in-game content drops as the night progresses. Alongside these drops Longest Night of Museums will also feature quizzes with special in-game prizes up for grabs.
Special bonus codes for existing and new players will also be featured on museums website and social media for this special occasion.
