Hinwil, 16th March 2021 – Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports Team have signed German talent Simon Weigang for the 2021/22 F1 Esports season. One of the most exciting talents on the grid, Simon has shown year-on-year improvement across his two previous seasons in F1 Esports and joins Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN to make a further step in performance.

The 23-year-old started his F1 Esports journey in 2019, leading Renault to a fourth place finish in his debut season before making the move to Haas, where he achieved his best overall finish in the drivers’ standings last season.

Looking to emulate the success of his predecessors in the team, Simon has made his ambitions clear and looks to continue Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN’s success in the F1 Esports Series following its second-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship in 2020.

Simon Weigang: “I’m delighted to join such a prestigious team in Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports. They have shown over the past three years that they are one of the most competitive teams in the esports space and I am so excited to get preparations underway for the new season and show the world what I can do on track.”

Jamie MacLaurin, Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports Team Principal: “Simon is a driver we have monitored for a long time and we believe that, with us, he can develop into one of the strongest drivers on the F1 Esports grid. We had such a successful season in 2020 and Simon must hit the ground running to ensure we remain at the sharp end in 2021.”
