After the NGP was announced and there was gameplay from Killzone and Uncharted shown working just fine on the system, many people started to think that this “Next Generation Portable” would actually be as powerful as the PlayStation 3. But Sony just nipped those rumors in the bud because at their GDC presentation today they acknowledged that the NGP is far from the PS3’s capabilities.
Rather than being as good as the PS3 they stated that the best way to gauge the capabilities of the handheld would be to place it in-between the PSP’s graphics and the PS3s. Of course this leaves a very wide margin of graphical enhancement which is exactly what Sony wants. Either that or they just shot themselves in the foot to avoid backlash later from heightened expectations.
