Portal 2 mods to be available on all formats

Valve has confirmed that although the mod tools will only be available to PC users of the game, the user-created content will span over onto both console versions of Portal 2.

Although we would all like the various creation options to come to Xbox 360 and PS3, it can’t because ‘there’s a bunch of dependencies that require the Windows platform’, which is understandable. Still, it is great news for those of you picking it up on a home console instead of the PC, as you will still be able to access the quirky, innovative and sometimes crazy works of art from the community.

It is not yet completely clear how the content will be delivered, and it is unlikely that console gamers will have access to everything. It was however confirmed that, making use of  Valve’s online Steam network – which debuts on PS3 with Portal 2, PS3 gamers will be able to receive user content by utilising this new feature.
