Fantasy sequel to a Christmas classic spreads holiday cheer today on PC and consoles

SAN FRANCISCO — 3 Nov. 2023 — Ebenezer and The Invisible World, a hand-drawn Metroidvania fantasy reimagination sequel to Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story, A Christmas Carol, from Orbit Studio and Play on Worlds, is decking the haunted halls on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam today.

After his transformation in A Christmas Carol, the once miserly Ebenezer Scrooge decides to dedicate himself to the people of London. Now a benevolent figure lending a hand to those in need, Ebenezer receives a strange warning: a Dark Spirit conspires to plunge Victorian London into chaos. As the only one with eyes open to an invisible world of spirits, Ebenezer answers the call and braves a whirlwind of sinister specters. 

Unfortunately, phantoms are far from the only threat looming in London. The Malthus family, led by greedy industrialist Caspar, now threatens the city. While the workers of London stand their ground protesting the inhumane practices at the Malthus Factories, Caspar plans to crush the vulnerable working class underfoot with the help of his imposing Malthus Private Guard. 

Explore interconnected levels brimming with Holiday splendor. Race through the snowy streets, confronting ghastly poltergeists with supernatural abilities. Brave the haunted halls of the Asylum, reach for the stars in the celestial London Observatory, confront the most fearsome phantoms in the Necropolis – the ghostly axis point – and infiltrate the ominous Malthus Factory, Caspar’s future-tech center of power. 

Along the way, Ebenezer receives a little help from some ghostly friends, each with their own tales to tell and awesome spectral powers to call upon. Summon an array of spirits, including Caspar’s early childhood friend and soldier Eric Fellows, daring mountaineer Victoria Peak, and dedicated watchmaker Saki Tokei, each offering special abilities to aid in both combat and traversal.

Wield powerful weapons from the spirit realm, like ghost swords and spooky whips, and unlock buffs and upgrades with raw materials. Solve puzzles, uncover long-buried secrets, and take on quests to help both supernatural and totally natural friends in need. Fend off towering bosses and discover secrets across a detailed, hand-drawn Metroidvania map, all set to original musical compositions and scores inspired by themes of the Victorian era and Christmas.

Sydney, Australia, 3 November 2023 – Warner Bros. Games today released a new Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer spotlighting downloadable content (DLC) guest fighter Omni-Man, inspired by the Invincible comic book and Prime Video adult animated series. The new video shows off Omni-Man’s signature look, along with his formidablemoveset that incorporates the character’s superhuman strength, speed, and aerial abilities. 

Omni-Man, also known as Nolan Grayson, hails from the alien world of Viltrum and has long fought to protect his adopted home of Earth as one of the planet’s most powerful champions. He even raised his son, the hero known as Invincible (Mark Grayson), to follow in his footsteps and carry on his legacy. But the Viltrumite warrior’s true mission was never benevolence – it was conquest. And the Viltrum Empire, hungry for expansion, has no intention of stopping at Earthrealm. 

Omni-Man will join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster from Nov. 9 as part of the early access period for Kombat Pack owners, followed by wide availability from Nov. 16. 

Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1 is voiced by actor J. K. Simmons, who also voices the character in the Invincible animated series. Season 2 of Invincible premieres Nov. 3 on Prime Video.
