LOS ANGELES – APRIL 9, 2026 – Netmarble, a leading developer and publisher of high-quality games, has shared key details for its upcoming monster-taming action RPG MONGIL: STAR DIVE during an online showcase.

Held ahead of the game’s April 15 global launch, the showcase introduced key game systems and upcoming content while engaging with players worldwide. The event featured VTuber “MiFlat” and popular gaming YouTuber “TesterHoon,” who joined Netmarble Monster PD Dong Jo Lee and Netmarble Business Team Leader Dong Ki Kang to present the game.

The showcase highlighted the game’s core “Monsterling Collection” system that centers on capturing, collecting, and synthesizing monsters. The three-character, party-based, real-time tag system emphasizes intuitive controls and fast-paced combat. Manual control enhances responsiveness, while features such as part destruction and weak point targeting introduce strategic depth based on player familiarity with each character.

Netmarble also shared plans for ongoing player engagement through global online and offline events following launch. Dong Ki Kang stated that various offline programs, including pop-up stores, event zones, and merchandise events, are planned worldwide, with further details to be announced. Ahead of launch, a live broadcast featuring Japanese voice actors and influencers is scheduled for April 13, while additional regional events such as a collaboration café in Taiwan are also in preparation.

Post-launch content plans were also revealed, including Episode 6, which will explore deeper narratives set in the Far East region. The company also confirmed plans to expand to console platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox.

Following the launch, Esther will be featured as the first event summon character being one of the most popular figures with a maid appearance in the MONGIL: STAR DIVE universe.  Various in-game events will offer rewards including profile backgrounds and growth-support items. A special showcase coupon code was also revealed, granting access to the “Artifact: Overflowing Love.”

The showcase also marked the first reveal of the upcoming Legendary Monster “Reginula.” According to PD Dong Jo Lee, Legendary Monsters are designed as an ultimate objective for players, supported by more dynamic and intense combat experiences.

MONGIL: STAR DIVE is the long-awaited sequel to the beloved 2013 mobile collectible RPG Monster Taming. Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game delivers cinematic storytelling and dynamic real-time combat centered on a three-character tag system. The “Monsterling Collection” system supports the capture, collection, and synthesis of monsters, adding strategic depth to gameplay.

Global pre-registration is currently underway ahead of launch. Registration via the official website provides access to the “Francis” character, while additional rewards are available through the App Store and Google Play, including Summoning Tickets known as “Compass of Promise.”

400,000 wishlists strong, Neverway turns you into the immortal herald of a dead God. Make friends, fight through horrors and keep your life from falling apart

Vancouver, Canada (April 9, 2026) – Developer Coldblood Inc. dropped the playable prologue for its highly anticipated life-simulator-meets-RPG-nightmare-adventure, Neverway, today. The prologue is available now for free on Steam as the trio also reveals the game’s spooky season launch timeframe of October on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. The news debuted alongside a brand-new trailer showcasing more of what players can expect from this incredibly unique title: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2318330/Neverway/

Step into the shoes of Fiona, who, after quitting her dead end job, starts over with a farm. However, she quickly finds herself the immortal herald of a dead god, unraveling a new life of psychological horror. She needs to balance her new life, not disappoint her friends and… something is seriously wrong about all of this.

As you fight to pick yourself back up the search will begin for Neverway, a nightmare reality that is slowly blending with your own world. Can you figure out what’s really going on here? Actually, maybe just focusing on her new life will be all Fiona needs to get back on her feet instead. Surely…

The playable prologue invites players to about an hour of the game, including the opening, which explores how Fiona gets to her new island home. The prologue then drops you into a mind-boggling midgame segment of Neverway that reveals that nothing is truly as it seems, transporting you into a simulation where you’ll try to piece together what is happening around you and fight your way deeper into Fiona’s memories.

Neverway’s soundtrack is spearheaded by acclaimed composer Disasterpeace (Fez, Hyper Light Drifter, It Follows, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), adding a deeply haunting soundscape woven into the game’sstunning, monochromatic pixel-art world.

Experience seamless land-to-ship gameplay with a focus on exploration, base building and combat. Sigma Star Saga DX Review

Sigma Star Saga DX

Developer: WayForward
Publisher: WayForward
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Switch (Reviewed)
Release Date: April 7th, 2026
Price: $19.99 USD – Available Here

Overview

When you are a developer known for your quality for decades, people take notice. WayForward‘s track record for greatness goes back a long way, and we are now being treated to a port of a classic for modern consoles. Sigma Star Saga DX is ready for another swing at success, bringing with it a blend of genres with a deep narrative. Does this classic still have legs, or is this one that misses the mark? Let’s find out.

Story

If there is anything that stands out the most for Sigma Star Saga, it’s the story within. Players take the role as Ian Recker as he finds himself in a sci-fi plot to save the universe from an alien species known as The Krill, who are out to develop a weapon that challenges the safety of all living things. Along with Team Sigma, Recker must save the world while travelling to worlds far and wide as the narrative opens up in pretty awesome ways, with each choice possibly leading to a different outcome.

In a way, it’s Mass Effect before Mass Effect. There are females to impress, matter to find, and powers that have to be stopped from getting into the wrong hands. It’s surprising that this ambition was used on the Game Boy Advance, but like years prior, WayForward were known for pushing the limits at the end of a platform’s life, and this title is no exception. Sure, the story can feel a bit oddly paced and even has some generic tropes running through it, but I really respect the energy of this plot and how hard it tries to captivate the player, even if the delivery isn’t always so smooth.

Gameplay

Blending genres is always a risk, and I can’t say it pays off a lot for this title as a whole. By no means is the gameplay not smooth and what we would expect from WayForward, but the execution here leaves a bit to be desired. Players start off right in a hectic side-scrolling space shooter which, while difficult, is a very exciting way to start the experience. Everything in these portions is fairly standard fare. You have your standard weapons, bombs, power-ups, and simply scroll along until the end, attempting to survive onslaughts of bullets that rain down. While that is fine, there is repetition to these stages, and they can get a bit tiring as you try to progress. There are some quality-of-life upgrades added in the DX version, but they do little to really change the formula of the original product.

On foot portions of the game play out as an action-RPG with a top-down perspective. You explore and find items that progress the gameplay and story in these parts, fighting enemies with decent combat mechanics in tow. It’s weird that two portions of the game that feel so fluid don’t seem to feel interconnected, but that is kind of how Sigma Star Saga is. The progression system is fine, and even jumping back and forth between gameplay elements works, but rehashing the same areas gets old quickly, and this game feels padded and quickly gets tedious due to the nature of moving forward.

The game is still solid and really picks up with challenge, but having to have one great moment of satisfaction by beating an area, only to have to do it over and over again, is where the rust starts. By the end of the game, I was left with a feeling of simply wanting to stay on the ground and out of the skies, and simply finish it to get that last bit of story. The high points are great, but the journey between those points comes at a bit of a cost. WayForward did a lot to polish the experience for this version, and it shows, but the pacing is still a little bit of a headache overall.

Audio

I mean, the soundtrack is outstanding here. I think that is to be expected, but nevertheless, these tunes are great and still hold up well. There is a lot of thought put into each area’s score, and it shows most during story segments, where the game successfully makes small moments feel more important due to the music within. The sound effects are also solid, giving players a nice balance of that retro “pew-pew”, with great destruction and fight noises throughout.

Visuals

It is so odd how this game looks this good for the Game Boy Advance era, but alas, this is another winner. Full of colour, crisp sprites, and massive detail, these worlds are a joy to see and explore. Maybe that is why it is kind of frustrating for the pacing. With all of the beautiful world designs, it would be nice to get more variation when having to re-do areas, as some fall flat the second time around due to feeling more of the same.

Overall

I remember this title when it came out, as it was always kind of a bargain bin game. That isn’t any strike against Sigma Star Saga, as most late titles that were not Mario were knocked down quickly for the GBA, but this one was one I remember snagging due to its low cost and being impressed with during the original run, but kind of forgot about due to the massive DS landslide that would come shortly after. Sigma Star Saga DX is a welcome reminder of that era and that kind of release. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it does pack a punch, delivering a space epic in small scope and high ambition.

“Backyard Baseball,” First New Console Game in Franchise in Over Fifteen Years, Releases Free Demo on Steam Ahead of July Launch

CHICAGO — April 9, 2026 —Children’s and family entertainment company Playground Productions today announced that a free demo of their forthcoming video game titled Backyard Baseball will be available to play on April 9th on Steam for both PC and Mac users.

The demo features “Backyard Derby,” a new game mode from the upcoming release. Users will get to play as fan-favorites Pablo Sanchez, Kiesha Phillips, or Kenny Kawaguchi in a fun and fast-paced, arcade-style home run challenge. Via the demo, Playground has revealed exciting new features that fans can expect for the full game as well, like couch co-op (to challenge friends in head-to-head competition), live global leaderboards (for Backyard Baseball bragging rights), night mode, and competitive modes like “Crazy Pitch,” which put a uniquely challenging spin on the derby.

Watch the Backyard Derby Demo Launch Trailer Here

“This demo shows fans our commitment to maintaining the original charm and humor of Backyard Baseball while also displaying how we’re modernizing and updating the brand,” said Playground Productions CEO Lindsay Barnett. “With new features (like Night Mode, competitive Global Leaderboards, and couch co-op) we’re showing an expansive and immersive sneak peek of the new Backyard Baseball. Backyard Derby is just the start. We can’t wait to share more.”

At this year’s PAX East event (a large gaming convention held annually in Boston since 2010) the demo was given a “Best in Show” award and received overwhelming acclaim from critics and fans alike. Playground Productions attended the convention with their developer, Mega Cat Studios, and previewed an early access version of the game mode. The response from players was so positive it encouraged the team to make a version of the demo available for their fans.

“Backyard Derby is a first look at how we’re pushing Backyard Baseball forward. It’s faster, more competitive, and designed to keep players coming back, with pick-up-and-play co-op at its core, all grounded in the character-forward charm fans grew up with,” added Chris Waters, Chief Product Officer, Playground Productions.

“So many of the cats grew up playing Backyard Baseball, and we cannot wait for players to experience Backyard Derby’s demo,” said James Deighan, CEO and Chief Baseball Officer at developer Mega Cat Studios. “The fans have been waiting a long time for Backyard Baseball to come back the right way. Today, we get to prove we heard them. The demo is live, Backyard Derby is in your hands, and this is just the beginning. We built this for the kid who wore out the original disc, and for the next generation discovering it for the first time.”

When Backyard Baseball releases in full on July 9th, it will be the first major console release for the franchise in 15 years. Playground has promised that all 30 original characters will be returning to the game, with some surprises in store as well. The game will officially release on Steam (for PC and Mac) as well as all major consoles such as the Nintendo Switch 2, XBOX (Series S and X), and PlayStation (4 & 5).

The new game is the most recent step in Playground Productions’ revitalization of the Backyard Sports franchise. Earlier this year, Backyard Sports: The Animated Special was released to YouTube and has amassed over 1 million unique views on the platform, an incredible feat for an independently produced episode. The special recently became available on Prime Video via their Prime Video Direct submission portal.

Road Truckers: New Beginning playtest and demo aims to rival full games in size

2 April 2026: The developers of Road Truckers: New Beginning, an indie trucking sim with RPG elements, is preparing for an open playtest on Steam. The playtest version of the game, and later the demo, aims to rival full games in terms of content and map size. The game is coming to PC and PlayStation 5.

See the new trailer, showcasing an updated look of the game.

GAME INFO | In Road Truckers: New Beginning, you’re a trucker from Esperanza, a forgotten town well past its prime. The townsfolk chipped in to fund your first truck, so you can expand your business and invest in the town in return.

Your truck is fully customizable, so in the course of the game, you’ll turn it from a rust bucket to a powerful beast.

The game features not just driving and hauling cargo, but on-foot exploration, numerous NPC quest givers, character development, truck upgrades, base expansion, and more.

PLAYTEST | The playtest, and later the demo, will feature the amount of content comparable to some full releases.

Our maps are massive. We have two in the game, and want to add more in the game’s life cycle. The first one, smaller than the second but still huge, will be fully available in the playtest – and it’s just a fraction of the roads you’ll find in the full game,” says Michal Puczynski, creative director of the project.

The open alpha version playtest will serve to widely test the game’s mechanics and stability across a variety of systems, and improve the player onboarding for such a massive project.

“We need to teach the player how to drive, how to maintain the truck, how to eat, sleep, cure diseases, upgrade the base, use the workshops, find help when stranded, etc. Player onboarding is a big task, and we hope that players will help us make it the best it can be.”

GET READY | The game is confirmed to run on the lowest details on PCs with 1060 family GPUs and 16 GB of RAM. At least 3080 and 32 GB RAM are recommended for visual quality.

More information about playtest dates and the feedback loop will come soon. Wishlist and follow the game now on Steam and stay tuned!

Fuse your body with over 100 unique objects found throughout the environment, combining them with weapons and organic elements to unlock new forms, abilities, and playstyles. Every obstacle, enemy, and environment becomes an opportunity to experiment, evolve, and progress in unexpected ways.

Combat is simple, responsive, and tactile, built around intuitive 2D movement and physics-driven interactions. Success isn’t just about reflexes, but creativity: manipulating the environment, experimenting with combinations, and approaching encounters from entirely new angles.

Every inch of Evolvania’s grotesque world has been entirely hand-drawn by a single developer, resulting in a striking visual identity that blends vivid detail with a deeply unsettling atmosphere. From pulsing tissue to impossible corridors, the creature’s anatomy is a living, breathing puzzle waiting to be understood.

Players can also step into the Creator’s Room, an intuitive level editor that allows anyone to design and share their own custom challenges. Build intricate labyrinths, craft unique encounters, and expand the world of Evolvania beyond the main adventure.

The Steam demo, available now, offers a first look at the game’s opening biome, introducing players to its core mechanics, evolving gameplay systems, and the beginning of its strange and compelling narrative.

RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT: YOGSCAST GAMES REVEALS ROGUELIKE BRAIN-TEASER ‘INFINITY SWEEPER’ LAUNCHES MAY 7

Minesweeper goes rogue in the latest title from Longshot Studio, combining roguelike replayability with the logic-driven decisions of the classic game.

BRISTOL, UK, 09 APRIL 2026 | Today, publisher Yogscast Games and indie developer Longshot Studio are excited to announce the release date for their anticipated retro puzzle roguelike, Infinity Sweeper. Inspired by the beloved title Minesweeper, players can test their logic and instinct when the game launches on Steam on May 7th. Enjoy a preview of the game in the free demo, available now.

A Rogue Twist On A Cult Classic

It’s Minesweeper for the modern era! Infinity Sweeper combines classic strategy and nostalgia with the replayability of modern roguelikes. Carefully navigate the familiar grid, uncovering the numbered tiles while avoiding the destructive mines. Use your logic to uncover patterns in the grid that indicate the placement of safe tiles, and flag mine tiles to avoid wasting one of your three precious lives. Prepare to overcome Infinity Sweeper’s ever-expanding grid, where one wrong move can set you back to the start.

Procedurally-Generated Progression

Procedurally-generated grids create an ever-evolving experience in Infinity Sweeper. After clearing a board, choose from a selection of modifiers and permanent upgrades to benefit your run. Keen eyes will spot individual tile modifiers that may change what appears on the board. There are new traps to uncover, as well, with some altering the board’s format or destroying certain tiles. Encounter a boss battle every four stages, turning the predicted gameplay into a time-sensitive test of strategy.

Create A Custom Toolkit

Clearing a board rewards players with gold, which can be exchanged for upgrades in the game’s shop. Pick from single-use cards with consumable effects or permanent upgrades for long-lasting advantages. As you clear each boss stage, new hazards will be introduced to the grid, requiring players to sharpen their strategy and alter their approach. Detailed stats are provided for players chasing the skill ceiling. With easy-to-learn yet difficult-to-master mechanics, Infinity Sweeper is a treat for retro players and newbies alike.

Key Features

  • Procedurally Generated Grids: Every board is unique and demands a new way of thinking.
  • Endless Roguelite Progression: Unlock upgrades after each run, discover tile modifiers and build your loadout.
  • Upgrade Systems: Tile modifiers that change what appears on the board, permanent upgrades that shift gameplay dynamics and single-use cards for clutch moments.
  • Boss Encounters: Timed challenges to test your speed, precision and nerve under pressure.
  • Endless Replayability: No two runs are identical. Every turn provides an opportunity to learn from your failures and improve.

Infinity Sweeper will be available on the Steam storefront on May 7th. Wishlist the game for a reminder when it launches. A free demo is available now, and interested players can compete in the Yogscast Infinity Sweeper Challenge for a chance at exclusive prizes and serious bragging rights.
