Ancient Entities Invade In Free EVERSPACE 2 Incursions And Unreal Engine 5 Update

New massive space battles and legendary items come to EVERSPACE 2 alongside an engine migration to Unreal Engine 5 and a flotilla of tweaks and bug fixes in today’s free update.

Hamburg, Germany – April 29, 2024 — ROCKFISH Games is bringing another massive free update to their open world spaceship looter shooter action RPG, EVERSPACE 2. Incursions releases today on PC and PlayStation worldwide with Xbox to follow shortly, bringing an exciting list of new gameplay features, in-game items, and improvements to space fans.

The update comes soon after a massive win for EVERSPACE 2 at the 2024 Deutsche Computerspielpreis where ROCKFISH Games took home Best German Game, the top award for video games developed in Germany.

Watch the Incursions Update Video below:

The Incursions update broadens the depth of EVERSPACE 2’s world and lore, adding massive space battles to the later portion of the story campaign. Actions taken by Adam Roslin and his crew have weakened the integrity of the universe and allowed Ancients to break into reality from rift space. In new Incursions activities, it’s up to skilled space pilots to fend off hordes of enemies while destroying beacons allowing enemies to cross over from another dimension.

Legendaries, new front, rear, and cockpit modules, and new reliquary treasure items that can be unlocked in the retooled Ancient Rift mode. Additional features such as a revamped photo mode, reworked Scout “Shadow Strike” ultimate ability, increased legendary item limit per loadout, and many community-requested changes have also been added. On Xbox and PlayStation consoles, controller button remapping has also been added in response to community request. The Incursions update also brings EVERSPACE 2 from Unreal Engine 4 to 5.3. This engine migration allows the ROCKFISH Games team to continue development using the latest tools while enabling toggleable features such as Lumen GI on DirectX 12, Nvidia Reflex latency reduction, Intel XeSS upscaler, AMD FSR 3.0 upscaler and Nvidia Frame Generation for high-end PC players.

“Bringing EVERSPACE 2 to Unreal Engine 5.3 alongside all the new Incursions content was a monumental challenge that the team tackled in stride and the results are evident,” said ROCKFISH Games CEO and co-founder Michael Schade. “Though we were able to take advantage of the latest technologies such as Nvidia’s Frame Generation and Unreal’s Lumen in this update, our main goal with this engine migration was to future proof the game—we’ve got a lot more premium content coming that we’ll share about later this year. For now, new and returning pilots can enjoy all the legendaries and endgame content added with this update.”

ROCKFISH Games also launches a new EVERSPACE 2 Supporter Pack on Steam today, making an assortment of ship cosmetic options available for superfans. This $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.49 / ¥1520 pack includes new ship skins, decals, and lighting effects as well as a variety of engine effects for pilots looking to support the team.

EVERSPACE 2 is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store for $49.99 / €49.99 / £44.99 / ¥6930. The game is available as a Play Anywhere title on Xbox and PC Game Pass. EVERSPACE 2 is fully voiced in English and German and currently localized in thirteen languages including English, Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Spanish.

Every second friday, the ROCKFISH Games team shows off content from their latest EVERSPACE 2 dev build on the ROCKFISH Games Twitch and YouTube channel from 8 pm to 10 pm CET / 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET / 11:00 am to 1:00 pm PT. Viewers are encouraged to bring their questions about EVERSPACE games for the dev team.

F***ED UP FIX’EM’UP: UNCLE CHOPS ROCKET SHOP OPENING ITS DOORS THIS NOVEMBER

Outlandish new trailer reveals bizarro new gameplay and upcoming demo

Leicester, UK – 29th April 2024

Ready your tools, diagnostic devices and basic literacy skills as the whacky, irreverent (and downright weird) roguelite spaceship repair simulator, Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop, opens its doors to players this November on Windows PC,  PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The frantic ‘fix’em’up’ challenges players to take the helm at a franchise of the eponymous owner, Uncle Chop. The ultra-tactile mechanics twinned with a roguelite format create a unique and outlandish gameplay experience with an aesthetic and dark humour inspired by TV shows such as Adventure Time and Rick & Morty.

New gameplay, spaceships, repair modules and miscreants are revealed in the latest trailer which also features a sneak peak at boss ships, factions, and the…occult ‘activities’ that go alongside them…oh and donuts.

There’s more good news though, as players won’t have to wait too much longer to get a taste of the gameplay with a PC demo being released on Steam in early June. Follow Uncle Chops Rocket Shop on Steam to be kept up-to-date when the demo goes live

A Raging Demon Awaits…The Fearsome Akuma Joins Street Fighter 6 on May 22!

New Outfits for All Four Year 1 Characters, Plus Major Battle Balance Updates, Will Also Be Released Alongside Akuma

London (April 29, 2024) Unleash your inner demon when the legendary Akuma joins the Street Fighter™ 6 roster starting on May 22, across PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam! Dropping right alongside Akuma are three significant new updates:

  • Fight with style when Outfit 3 becomes available for all Year 1 Characters, including Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma. Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners will automatically receive these including their colors 1-10 on May 22.
  • The highly anticipated battle balance updates are coming to the game. We’ll have more details to share about this in the upcoming weeks.
  • The newest stage in Street Fighter 6, Enma’s Hollow, where Akuma resides to continue his hellbent training has been revealed. Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners will automatically receive this stage on May 22.

To check out the Akuma Gameplay Trailer, please visit YouTube, and for the latest assets and information on Street Fighter 6, visit the official Street Fighter 6 website.

Akuma drops straight into the action across all three Street Fighter 6 game modes, including World Tour where you can learn more about his story, Battle Hub where you can apply his moves to your own avatar, as well as the classic Fighting Ground experience. Check out his throwback Outfit 2 style as well, inspired by his debut look in Super Street Fighter™ II Turbo.

Now on to a sample of some of his exhilarating and demonic moves:

  • Gou Hadoken: Akuma’s infamous fireball is back and can be charged up to blast a “red fireball” that gives him more options on hit or block.
  • Ashura Senku: Like his previous iterations, Akuma uses Ashura Senku to glide on the battlefield cloaked in shadows.
  • Adamant Flame: One of Akuma’s new moves, where he performs a forward thrust engulfed in flames. This move is useful in combos and for exploiting vulnerable opponents due to its long reach.
  • Messatsu Gohado: Akuma’s Level 1 Super Art where he fires a highly concentrated ball of Satsui no Hado.
  • Empyrean’s End: Akuma’s Level 2 Super Art where he turns the Satsui no Hado into a powerful flame and ignites it within the opponent.
  • Sip of Calamity: Akuma’s first Level 3 Super Art where he throws opponents on the ground face-first and follows up with a single devastating blow.
  • Shun Goku Satsu or “Raging Demon”: This second Level 3 Super Art can only be performed when his Vitality is low enough for a Critical Art and can be used to end combos. This time, he allows you to see what happens during the one second worth of nightmares.

Akuma will be unlocked for owners of the Year 1 Character Pass, Year 1 Ultimate Pass, Deluxe Edition, or Ultimate Edition on May 22. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

Minishoot’ Adventures Review

Minishoot’ Adventures

Developer: SoulGame Studio
Publisher: SoulGame Studio, IndieArk
Platforms: PC (Reviewed)
Release Date: 3rd April, 2024
Price: 14.99 USD, 21.95 AUD Available Here

Overview

Minishoot’ Adventures is a recently released title that triples as a shoot-em-up, Metroidvania, and bullet hell experience. Players control a mini spaceship on a quest to heal the world from corruption and defeat several enemies scattered across different environments. At first glance, the game doesn’t make too many outlandish promises or guarantee a unique experience. However, there are lots of surprises and unexpected components of Minishoot’ Adventures that elevate the game to another level. Could this title make waves and become a contender for one of the most acclaimed games of the year?

Story

Minishoot’ Adventures keeps its premise short and sweet – occasional onscreen text appears at critical moments to tee up a story. Otherwise, the focus is always on gameplay and exploration. Players are told that Corruption has made its way into the world, and the Unchosen is back. You play as a miniature spaceship and are tasked with finding other spaceships, dubbed ‘Shipling friends’, to regain power and restore balance to the world.

This was all the story players needed to understand and appreciate the game, and while it would’ve been nice to learn more lore about the world of Minishoot’ Adventures, it’s unnecessary to enjoy this game.

Gameplay

Minishoot’ Adventures combines numerous types of gameplay to craft its experience. The main component is a shoot-em-up combat experience with bullet hell environments and enemies. Players control a mini spaceship that acquires a gun at the beginning of the game to eradicate enemies of varying sizes and health amounts. You can upgrade your gun and other stats, such as movement speed, through a skill tree – you earn points every time you defeat enemies. This was all straightforward and familiar, and the game doesn’t get overly creative with its mechanics, which allows it to do what it does strongly.

Exploration is also a major part of Minishoot’ Adventures, and its map features multiple environments with differing enemies, interaction points, and mechanics. Progressing through to the end of the game requires fully moving around the map, which makes exploring both necessary and enjoyable.

Other mechanics and challenges exist in the game: one trial available has your spaceship participate in a race and requires you to win. While different players will likely enjoy certain aspects of the gameplay more than others, there’s certainly something for everyone. All these unique features still felt cohesive and well-thought-out.

Visuals

The game presents as a top-down 2D world, with bright colors and relatively simple objects and enemies. The atmosphere and visuals sometimes felt akin to Zelda, particularly when exploring the more fantastical regions of the map. The camera pans or zooms out when approaching a critical area to feature a more cinematic angle. This was always a fun surprise.

The colorful and bold environment absolutely enhanced the gameplay experience but didn’t distract from it.

Audio

The music in Minishoot’ Adventures is very typical for a video game of its type, in the best way possible. The soundtrack is wondrous, high-energy, and very reactive toward what occurs on the screen. As you transition from one map area to another, the music shifts seamlessly. The same goes for when you enter a boss battle or enemy encounter.

What I enjoyed most about the audio experience was all the different sound effects in the game, from the bullet noises to the menu buttons. Everything felt extremely satisfying, all the time. Leveling up felt amazing due to the immediate audio feedback you received in-game, and the same can be said for many other moments. This game certainly makes you feel rewarded for progression, and sound is one of the many ways it does so.

Overall

Playing Minishoot’ Adventures was a great time. The game understands what it wants to be and follows in the footsteps of many iconic preceding titles, which isn’t bad in this case. The game’s willingness to stay true to genres made it a solid and enjoyable time. After concluding my playthrough, I wished there was more and thought about playing again.

Overview

When it comes to brawlers, no licensed franchise has likely seen more titles released for it than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games. Sure, there are entire game franchises that have existed only has brawlers but those are a separate thing entirely, TMNT is a popular property and the fact that it features four iconic turtles with signature weapons lends itself so well to the genre that it makes sense that so many have been made over the past three decades. In fact, two major beat ’em ups for the Turtles have arrived within the last couple of years, which begs the question as to why now would GameMill choose to tap into the 2017 arcade game simply titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Well, they have and brought a bit of new content into the game in their own version titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants. So now that it has arrived on consoles and PC, is this beat ‘em up another trip down memory lane with the Heroes in a Half-Shell?

Story

With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants‘ origins as an arcade game, there really isn’t much of a storyline to go along with the game unfortunately as the developer didn’t even include the “attract” screen to introduce players to what is happening. That being said, it does take its stylization from the 2012 Nickelodeon television series including taking various villains and interactions, which mostly only consist of a few taunts the bosses, including new ones, throw the Turtles’ way during a fight, from the decade old cartoon. Since players can play through any of the five stages at any time, with the sixth stage unlocking only once players beat all five of the other stages, there isn’t much in the way of set-up.

Heck, other than defeating Shredder at the end and facing down various TMNT villains that even die-hard fans may not remember, there’s barely any interaction besides some unvoiced comic pages once the final boss is defeated. Unfortunately, besides unlocking the “Hard” difficulty option there is no bonus content to unlock in the game in any form, which is disappointing as even including some concept art, storyboards, or even an extra character in some way would encourage replays.

Gameplay

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants, being originally an arcade cabinet that only had a joystick, jump, attack, and special button, features the most simple beat ’em up formula around to the point that it doesn’t really involve much complexity. It does allow up to four characters to take on enemies at a time, with each character being able to play as one of the four turtles in local co-op at least. Each of the turtles has their own unique basic combo, a jump, jump attack, and dive kick as well as a special “turtle power” that works as a sort of screen-clearing ultimate attack that deals plenty of damage to bosses but even summons unspawned enemies in a fight into the stage so they take damage as well. These Turtle Powers, while all effectively the same in damage, are all different with Leondardo creating a whirling tornado with his katanas, Michelangelo throwing exploding pizza slices, Donatello blasting everything on screen with lightning, and Raphael just kind of punching the ground so hard it explodes.

It is worth noting that there is no dodge or block button of any kind, meaning players will need to jump to avoid potential damage, especially from bosses with their AoE attacks, and there are plenty of enemies that are ready to deal out damage. It is worth noting that while the game does offer two difficulties to start with, with Hard being unlocked upon completing Normal, the only apparent difference is how many lives players start a stage with. On Normal it is 2, Easy is 3, and Hard drops it down to 1 though since Continues seem to be infinite, it doesn’t really matter much.

As players fight through a stage they can pick up or hit various items in the field to deal damage to enemies as well as obtain power-ups. These power-ups range simply from being full boxes of pizza to restore health and Turtle Power meter boosts to more active tools such as shurikens that one-shot standard enemies and deal plenty of boss damage, an “ice cream kitty” that rages through the screen before running off, some type of potion that freezes enemies in place, and even a spinning shell attack. The most powerful of these happen to summon an ally in the form of either Leatherhead or Metalhead who will come in to wipe out the screen of enemies.

Across the five stages that players need to play through to unlock the sixth final stage two of these are original. With the Amusement Park and Dimension X adding in a few new stages even if the enemies that players fight here remain the same, outside of some new bosses of course. That being said, all bosses in the game, with the exception of the obvious final boss being Shredder, play almost the exact same way. This includes jumping their AoE attacks, picking up shuriken to throw at them, and dealing with random individual mobs that come in to try and get in a few cheap shots. This leads to some rather monotonous play even during some of the newer encounters since players will quickly find out that Wrath of the Mutants does little to actually change up the game throughout its literally hour long length.

Unfortunately, unless players want to really try out the unlockable Hard mode, no incentive beyond obtaining achievements has been included in the game for replayability. No unlockable characters, hidden content, or anything along those lines to try and expand upon this arcade port. Even the leaderboards are local only and oddly enough, don’t even let players put their own names in so even if they are competing with their friends on the couch, it doesn’t let them leave a mark of their own. Along those same lines, the complete lack of online co-op is once again a massive misstep for a beat ‘em up such as this. Considering each level is only around ten minutes long and the way continues are setup, it should have been easy to allow for drop-in online co-op but sadly that is not the case here.

Audio & Visuals

As mentioned before, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants takes its visual inspiration from the 2012 Nickelodeon series so players should already know a little bit about what to expect in this regard if they happened to watch the show. That being said, there is some nice variation between the designs of each of the game’s stages and the “Turtle Power” moves look nice whenever they are used even if it automatically summons all enemies available during that bout into the screen at once, even if they haven’t spawned yet, to dish out the damage. It is worth noting that most people will likely be fans of whichever version of TMNT they grew up with but for the most part the designs of most enemies have remained the same and that is at least partially true here except for the case of Bebop. While Rocksteady is still a hulking powerhouse wielding a flamethrower, Bebop looks like an anorexic patient in desperate need of intervention.

The voice work for the game is handled well with all of the voice actors reprising their roles from the original 2012 cartoon to handle their characters in the 2017 release and once again to record new voice lines for the additional stages that have been included in this version of the game. In fact, hearing Gilbert Gottfried appear, even for his short boss fight, was a wonderful treat for the late actor. The background music throughout the stages is fairly standard and the new Amusement Park stage really does stand out as exceptional even among the old stages’ presentation.

Overall

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants does take the original arcade game from 2017 and expands upon it with two brand new stages and a modified final stage that helps bring the game to a full blown hour long experience but its lack of complexity, oddly lacking online multiplayer, and general simplicity make it hard to recommend. Yes, it may take and bring back the voices and style of the long concluded 2012 take on the Turtles but this brawler is one that plays it far too safe and, for the price, will be found lacking by even the most die-hard fans.
