DIVE INTO THE STORY OF UNKNOWN 9: AWAKENING RELEASING IN 2024

Bandai Namco Europe revealed today that Unknown 9: Awakening, the narrative action-adventure game by Reflector Entertainment, will take players on a journey across the world starting in Spring 2024 (ANZ) on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

In a new trailer revealed today, players can discover more about the motivations driving Haroona’s quest and spot a few of the friends and foes she’ll encounter along the way. Haroona has relied on her beloved mentor Reika’s teaching to help her master her unique Fold-related abilities since she was a child. For years, she trained Haroona on the intricacies of this other dimension, tutored her on the ways of the world, and often recounted tales of enigmatic immortal figures said to preside over all of humanity’s knowledge — the Unknown 9.

Unfortunately, all this training came to a sudden halt the moment Vincent Lichter decided to take Reika’s life. Believing the Unknown 9 have kept humanity from realising its true potential for far too long, the leader of the Ascendants and former pupil of Reika’s has committed himself to freeing the world of their influence once and for all. His goal? To ensure humankind takes control of its own destiny, no matter the consequences. His actions cost Haroona too much, and so she sets off on a journey to stop him. Can Haroona prevent humanity’s best-kept secrets from falling into the wrong hands?

Dive into the story trailer here:

Unknown 9: Awakening is a third-person, narrative-driven, action-adventure game that follows the story of Haroona, a Quaestor born with the ability to venture into the Fold: a mysterious dimension that overlaps our own. On her quest for powerful hidden knowledge, she will learn to master her unique connection to the Fold, which allows her to channel its powers into our world. But such power does not go unnoticed. Haroona quickly becomes the target of the Ascendants, a splinter faction of a secret organisation known as the Leap Year Society, which wants to use the Fold to alter the course of human history.

Unknown 9: Awakening will launch this Fall 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. As the hunter delves deeper into unknown territory, local wildlife including the treacherous new Balahara Leviathan monster demonstrated how hunters must adapt and harness new techniques to coexist in the Windward Plains region’s volatile conditions. In the ferocious lightning storms that herald a change between the harsh dry season and abundant monsoon season, an even greater threat was glimpsed bolting behind the billowing sand clouds.

The Forbidden Lands play host to multiple packs of large monsters such as the Balahara, who can be seen in the trailer tracking and overwhelming the previously announced Doshaguma. These Leviathans secrete mucus along their serpentine bodies to deftly maneuver through the earth, hurl attacks at their foes, and create pitfall traps capable of shifting the sands of battle in their favor. That journey will compel players to team up with other hunters to discover the relationship between this world and the people who inhabit it, standing shoulder to shoulder against new and fearsome foes.

More information regarding Monster Hunter Wilds will be revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, alongside the title’s first playable demo on the Gamescom 2024 show floor.
