Carry the Weight of Mythical Messages in New Classic Platformer Kitsune Tails on Aug. 1

Scamper through a fabled tale of whimsical fox spirits tangled in romantic folklore

SAN FRANCISCO – June 8, 2024 – Kitsune Tails, the platformer styled after beloved classics and steeped in Japanese mythology developed by Kitsune Games (Kitsune Zero / Super Bernie World) and published by MidBoss™ (Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER), delivers the true spirit of classic platformers to PC via Steam on Thursday, August 1, with console versions in development for Q1 2025.

Jump through mythological matters of the heart as Yuzu, a young half-fox/half-human messenger to the god Inari voiced by Kira Buckland, the voice of NieR: Automata’s 2B. Run and jump through multiple worlds full of legendary Japanese creatures standing between Yuzu and her destined locations. Help Yuzu move mountains to rescue her love interest Akko from a dire fate, and access an array of mystical moves along the way.

Discover different costumes that change Yuzu’s aesthetic and command over her environment. Hop into a giant boot, dash atop the water dressed as a shark, don an indestructible kasa hat to break apart the earth, and enjoy a whole elemental wheel of options granting Yuzu a variety of new abilities. Master a game-changing wardrobe to turn a perilous nightmare of a journey into a speedrunning dream.

Find the balance between difficult kaizo gameplay and sincere narrative structure by creating custom maps for Kitsune Tails using the open source Tiled Map Editor. Create vast worlds of creative challenges to share them with the world and burgeoning Kitsune Tails community. Go above and beyond 2D platformers and test the limits of the engine to see its maximum potential.

“Kitsune Tails is so much more than just a visual nod to the classic 8-bit platformers,” said Eniko Fox, Founder, Kitsune Games. “We built this from the ground up to offer the community an accessible, diverse game-design experience — in addition to telling our own tale with those very same tools. We can’t wait to see what you all create!”

Kitsune Tails launches on PC via Steam for $19.99 with support for console editions on the horizon. For more information, visit the Kitsune Tails website, and follow Kitsune GamesMidBoss, and #KitsuneTails on social media.

Oberhaching, Germany, June 10,  2024 – Developer Mehuman Games and Publisher Toplitz Productions proudly announce the release of the demo for Vampire Dynasty as part of Steam Next Fest.

With the time limited demo you can get a glimpse into the eerie and sinister world of the highly anticipated action-adventure that combines dramatic storytelling with drastic choices and open sandbox gameplay, where you follow your heart to explore the diverse lush environments and unravel the secrets of Sangavias history.

You are Dragos, a former victim of a vampire attack, trying to find his place in a society where vampires are at the top of the food chain. You decide not only the fate of Sangavia but of every character living in it. You choose if they live or die, if you add them as devoted vampire followers to your clan or utilize them as obedient thralls to serve your every bidding. You can be a merciful ruler or become a ruthless tyrant, while you expand both your castle and your influence in the region and unravel a secret kept for centuries about the origins of vampires in these parts of the world.

Vampire Dynasty puts a grim and disquieting spin on the well-known Dynasty formula of resource gathering, roleplaying, management and building a life for you as well as your followers. With your castle as the centerpiece of your building efforts and serving as foundation for your character development, you can explore the open sandbox world at any given time to unravel its secrets, grow your following or follow the deep storyline enriched with full voice-over and cinematic presentation.

You can get a peek into the extensive castle building system of Vampire Dynasty, where you eventually can personalize any of the hundreds of setpieces at your disposal from walls and staircases to your coffin (you need to rest in style) and other furniture.

You can experience what it means to be a powerful vampire that can’t think of his bloodthirst alone but also the wellbeing of his loyal or distrustful subjects.

You can dive into the beginning of the cinematic story and get a feel for the gut-wrenching decisions you’ll have to make on your way to dominating Sangavia. Or maybe you fancy unraveling the lore that you might discover with the sidequests that Vampire Dynasty has in store for you? Sink your fangs into the Vampire Dynasty demo available now as part of Steam Next Fest. The game will be released on PC in Steam Early Access later this year.

Ghibli-Inspired Management Sim “Hotel Galactic” Checks In at the PC Gaming Show

Design and book a stay at the comfiest hotel in the whole galaxy

Warsaw, Poland – 10 June, 2024 – Hotel Galactic, the cozy management sim from developer and publisher Ancient Forge, teased its grand opening during today’s PC Gaming Show ahead of launching a Kickstarter campaign on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Check out the reveal trailer below!

Restore a rundown cosmic hotel drifting among the stars to its former glory. Entice alien guests from around the galaxy by dreaming up beautifully quirky designs. Craft elegant guest rooms, grand dining halls, and other rooms crucial to keep guests satisfied during their stay. Purchase furniture from visiting merchants or build them from scratch using wood, metal, and other materials.

Feed eager guests by cooking meals using berries, plants, and cosmic ingredients scattered throughout the great beyond. Experiment with new dishes, cater to guests’ sophisticated palates and perfect delectable recipes to satisfy even the pickiest eaters.

Hire and manage staff to efficiently run the hotel. Drag and drop workers and alert them when to take a guest’s food order, intervene in a petty squabble in the lobby, and stay abreast of messes left behind by carefree visitors. Delight clients by maintaining a reputation of relaxation and cleanliness.

Take a reprieve from managing a hotel by exploring an underground complex within the floating island. Become a part of the local ecosystem by growing plants in the hotel’s backyard, and raise a myriad of livestock. Welcome eccentric, alien travelers from across the galaxy, and run the next five-star inn featuring a charming soundtrack and Studio Ghibli-inspired visuals.

Hotel Galactic is a massive step forward for all of us at Ancient Forge,” said Maksymilian Strzelecki, Vice President and Technical Director. “It’s an idea that had been percolating for a couple of years in pre-production, as we took our time to make sure the design and all its constituent parts meshed well to create this beautiful, nostalgic world. The technical demands were substantial, but the end result is a dynamic, immersive experience that I’m proud to share.”

Hotel Galactic is the project that utilizes everything we’ve learned in the last ten years or so,” said Dushan Chaciej, CEO and Creative Director at Ancient Forge. “We aimed to create a wholesome and engaging experience for players that love to watch their simulated little dudes end up in all kinds of weird situations. Personally, I can’t wait to see what the world thinks of what we’ve been working on for the past three years.”

Hotel Galactic will host intergalactic guests on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Fellow travelers can follow the game’s development through its official Steam store page and support the Kickstarter campaign starting on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, to win exclusive add-ons, assets, and be a part of the game’s Alpha-test group. The campaign runs through Tuesday, July 30, and with each milestone achieved, Ancient Forge promises to deliver new content such as unannounced in-game mechanics, new VIP guests, and more.

Create a Cozy Frog-topia in Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge on PC and Consoles Now

LILLE, France — June 10, 2024 — Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge, the cozy frog sanctuary farming sim developed by Humble Reeds and published by Armor Games Studios, springs into action on PC via SteamNintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S following this past Saturday’s Wholesome Direct.

Return home as Cleo, an adult yearning for a break from her mundane day-to-day, as she reconnects with Axel, her caring childhood friend known for his love of frogs. Rebuild their local wetlands and foster a home for frogs of all varieties in a restoration project filled with a colorful cast of characters working towards a wholesome goal.

Hop into a cozy farmland by collecting more than 500 adorable amphibians across eight species. Discover each one’s food preferences, specific color patterns, and unique traits, then breed them for repopulation and research. Create a peaceful home for all frog-kind by forming ponds, growing plants, and harvesting precious crops. Place comfy furniture, slippery slides, and refreshing pools to attract new visitors to the wetlands. Gather resources and craft goods for sale at shops to earn more funds to improve the frogs’ lovely new habitat.

After the main story concludes, work to complete the Frogedex, decorating the refuge, and restoring the wetlands. Collect sociable swamp dwellers of all kinds and watch their home flourish in a vibrant watercolor art style complimented by a cozy, soothing soundtrack.

“The comforting wetlands of Kamaeru are a great way to unwind and escape from daily life,” said Dan McNeely, CEO & Founder of Armor Games Studios. “As cozy gamers all over the world restore the wetlands in Cleo’s story, we hope it inspires a greater appreciation for nature, the ecosystem we live in, and a drive to protect the froggy friends we make along the way.”

Tame Wild Flames in Sorcerous Soulslike “Witch of Oblivion”, Coming to PC in 2025

TOKYO — June 10th, 2024 — Witch of Oblivion, the sorcerous soulslike set in an ever-changing open world developed and self-published by Tasto Alpha, sparks into existence in a reveal trailer featured in today’s IGN Live showcase. Master the flames on PC via Steam Early Access next spring.

In an age forgotten, the godlike Ancients have wielded nature’s might to dominate the world for time immemorial. The awakening of Cinder Witch Lyva provides kindling for hope to blossom, but upon waking from her years-long slumber, she has no recollection of her life’s purpose. Search high and low across an ever-changing forest for memory fragments to unveil her reason for existence in a colorful, dreamlike RPG adventure.

Explore a vast, dangerous woodlands that magically alters the locations of its fantastical inhabitants, keeping Lyva on her toes for what’s behind each tree. Befriend docile critters in possession of magical secrets, and battle aggressive fauna like flying snakes, sprouting spiders, and ferocious fowl. Then, interact with sage-like animals and the human-esque Wildfolk, who offer sidequests in exchange for worship and gifts.

Within Lyva lies the ancient Fire Magicks, versatile offensive and defensive magicks that can be used to destroy, create walls of flame, traverse the environment and even conjure a healing bonfire. Her magicks can even be used to improve her close quarters combat with her staves, or mix movement abilities with counterattacks for an advancing parry. Conjure up to four abilities at once, and equip additional passive skill gems and talismans for stat boosts.

Time is of the essence during Lyva’s excursions into the unknown: keep an eye on her energy levels during exploration and battle, lest she suffer a narcoleptic need for sleep that transports her back to the last visited Tree of Respite. Visit the shopkeeper to purchase new spells, use them to strengthen Lyva, increase her resistance to sleep to elongate each run, and awaken to a different landscape as the field rearranges itself with newly positioned enemies and dungeons.

Respect the Forbidden Flame — capable of burning friends and foes alike — or risk uncontrolled destruction of innocent life. Indiscriminate use will leave the forest and its furry inhabitants in ashes, leading to untold consequences and altering the story’s trajectory. Ready to unleash Lyva’s full destructive capabilities? Climb online leaderboards against witches around the world while burning bosses to a crisp in record time.

Witch of Oblivion mixes the classic soulslike experience with elements of precision and self-control. Instead of only monitoring health and magic reserves, it also requires consideration of collateral damage,” says Tom Ikeda, Director at Tasto Alpha. “Our crafting system allows for near infinite ways to customize your playstyle, so players can explore the effects of a cautious approach, wanton destruction, and everything in between. ”

Witch Of Oblivion will be available on PC via Steam Early Access in spring 2025. For more information on the game, visit the official Steam page, and follow @WitchofOblivion on Twitter / X.
