New update brings visual updates, new weapons, gear and maps

Darkflow Software and Gaijin Entertainment announce the release of a major update “Rzhev” for the online military shooter Enlisted. It brings significantly improved graphics, new missions dedicated to the famous Battle of Rzhev, as well as new squads, weapons, and military vehicles.

The Battle of Rzhev is a series of operations in 1942-1943, during which the Red Army eliminated the Rzhev-Vyazma ledge, from which German troops threatened Moscow. Eyewitnesses recalled this battle as a crazy meat grinder, and in terms of the significance and fierceness of the battles it was comparable to Stalingrad. Players in Enlisted will visit several iconic points of Rzhev, i.e. the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, the city hall, the central market, the shopping area and steep cliffs to the left bank of the Volga river. On the approaches to the city, battles will take place in industrial zones with a grain elevator and in the ruins of the suburban village of Teterino, of which mostly only the outlines of houses remain.

The Rzhev update features dozens of brand new or improved weapons and military vehicles – for example, the American T20 rifle, the Japanese KE-7 machine gun, the Soviet KV-2 tank (1940) with a powerful 152-mm howitzer and the German 8.8 cm Flak 37 Sfl. tank destroyer that can shoot down aircraft and tear armored vehicles to shreds with equal ease. Squads of radio operators can now call in rocket artillery strikes – the first to receive this opportunity are the 26th Guards Signal Battalion of the USSR and the 332nd Infantry Regiment of Germany.

Finally, Enlisted has improved the operation of Global Illumination technology on PC and PlayStation 5, which has made the game much more beautiful without sacrificing performance. The propagation of light has become even more realistic, and the game is visually richer: the developers have added specular lighting, increased its display distance, and also added detailed reflections.

São Paulo, Brazil – 20th June, 2024 – Independent developer QUByte Interactive has today released a new Dev Diary offering further insight into the development of their upcoming futuristic action adventure MARS 2120 ahead of its 1.0 launch onto PC (Steam and Epic Store), Switch, PlayStation and Xbox Series consoles this summer.

This first of four Dev Diary entries, “The Creation of MARS 2120“, reveals the initial steps in developing a game nearly four times more complex, time-consuming, and costly than any previous project by this small indie studio. Over five years, a core team of just six people took the game from concept to certification for a 2024 release.

Traditionally focused on retro games, including both original titles and notable franchises like the 1992 Super Nintendo’s Top Gear, QUByte Interactive embarked on creating its first complex, non-linear game: a sci-fi themed metroidvania. Driven by their passion for the genre and the ambition to tackle technical challenges, the team transitioned from the Unity engine to Unreal to make the best possible version of their vision.

MARS 2120’s sci-fi theme is inspired by the developers’ love for great sci-fi authors, iconic films like Aliens, Blade Runner and Total Recall, and classic console games such as Metroid, earning it the nickname “the Brazilian Metroid Dread.” The game entered early access on Steam in late 2022 to gather community feedback, ensuring development was guided by player input.

After a fierce final, 24-year-old Ohio native, Ben C, was crowned Candy Crush’s All Stars Champion of 2024, taking home $500,000 and a one-of-a-kind championship ring from Icebox, inspired by the iconic Candy Crush All Stars Candies. 

After entering Candy Crush All Stars, one of the largest tournaments in casual mobile gaming, Ben spent his time competing while recovering from surgery. “It feels epic to say that I’m the ultimate All Stars champion of 2024! I started competing in the tournament while I was recovering from surgery, that’s when I had time to think about my moves and plan my strategy” Ben explained. “It’s been an unforgettable experience to compete alongside players who all share your passion for Candy Crush, being able to bond over that has been amazing and I’ve made friends for life.”

Ben wasn’t the only one out for All Stars status, competing against players from around the globe, where Suzanne S, from Stockholm, Sweden, and Verissa T, from Atlanta, finished second and third out of the group of finalists, taking home $250,000 and $100,000.

The finalists were joined by host, Brie Garcia, who announced Ben as this year’s winner. “I’m a huge fan of Candy Crush and have been playing for years, so it was an honor to be in the presence of greatness. The All Stars finalists are nothing short of athletes!” Brie Garcia explained. “I usually play while I’m traveling for work because it helps me relax and unwind, but the Live Final has really brought out my competitive side again! I had so much fun hosting the tournament and even learned a few tips and tricks to level up my gameplay. Maybe 2025 will be the year I take home the title myself!”

Now in its fourth year, the free-to-enter Candy Crush All Stars® tournament began on March 28, 2024, with over 15 Million players competing through multiple rounds. To qualify for the Live Final, players needed to move through each stage collecting as many All Stars purple Candies as possible, resulting in 11.4 Trillion Candies collected and 2.2 Billion levels completed.
