New Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer Unveils First Look at Gameplay for Upcoming DLC Fighter Takeda Takahashi, Available July 23 as Part of the Kombat Pack; Takeda & Kameo Fighter Ferra Playable at Evo 2024

Warner Bros. Games have released a new Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer spotlighting Takeda Takahashi, the latest downloadable content (DLC) fighter set to join the main roster from July 23 as part of the early access period for Kombat Pack owners, followed by wide availability on July 30. Additionally, Ferra, a new DLC Kameo Fighter who can assist during matches with a range of support moves, will be available for Kombat Pack owners and standalone purchase from July 23

Similar to his cousin Kenshi, Takeda Takahashi was raised a Yakuza. Unlike him, Takeda enjoyed this lifestyle. That’s why he was chosen to end Kenshi’s crusade against his masters. The fight mortally wounded Takeda. Unwilling to let his cousin die, Kenshi rushed him to the nearest help: the Shirai Ryu. Even after Takeda was healed, Kenshi wouldn’t release him. He feared that the Yakuza might kill him for failing his mission. Takeda resisted, attempting to escape repeatedly. But as the months passed, he began to appreciate the Shirai Ryu’s selfless commitment to Earthrealm, a contrast to his past lifestyle. Takeda swore to rip up Earthrealm’s underworld by the roots, but he soon learns they are stronger and more tangled than he ever thought possible. In the new video, Takeda’s Shirai Ryu inspired moveset is on full display, including his ability to use serrated whips to pull and throw opponents, utilisation of explosive kunai projectiles to extend combos, and mastery of teleportation to attack opponents from behind.

Additionally, Takeda and Ferra will be playable for the first time ahead of their release at the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) fighting game tournament in Las Vegas from July 19-21. This opportunity will be available exclusively for event attendees and located within the Mortal Kombat 1 booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall.

NEW PALEO-STORE SET TO OPEN IN AMBER ISLE COMING OCTOBER 10TH

The grand opening for Ambertail Games’ debut title takes place on Steam this October 10th

July 16th 2024 – Ambertail Games and Team17 Digital have today announced dino-centric shop management sim Amber Isle will launch on Steam on October 10th, with the Nintendo Switch version coming soon after. Amber Isle welcomes players to set up shop in the eponymous Amber Isle, a friendly village fit to burst with an eclectic mix of prehistoric animals (Paleofolk), who are desperate for players to breathe new life into their community and bring their home back from the brink of fossilisation.

Join us for the grand opening!

Being the new owner of a failing shop is no mean feat, and once players have created their own Paleo-persona, they’ll need to roll up their sleeves and get their claws dirty as they work to maintain the shop. Players will spend their days bartering with stubborn customers, stocking shelves with everything their paleo pals might need, befriending the locals, improving the village, and exploring the surrounding areas for new items to craft, all in an attempt to convince their fellow Paleofolk to return to Amber Isle permanently.

Did you know: You can tell the difference between a dinosaur fossil and a stone by licking it. We don’t recommend licking actual dinosaurs though.

Amber Isle Key Features:

  • Open Shop:  Customise, name, and run your shop your way – use the profits to unlock new shop décor, walls, floors, and more, making the space uniquely yours.
  • Rebuild the Island: Rebuild, decorate, and unlock new areas to explore on Amber Isle, and with enough improvement, Paleofolk will start to take up residence on the island permanently.
  • Meet the Neighbours: Amber Isle is home to 48 different Paleofolk to befriend, including Ice Age mammals, Permian amphibians, marine life, invertebrates, and more.
  • Paleo-you: Express your penchant for the prehistoric and design your very own Paleofolk – change your clothes, crests, and colours, to create your perfect paleo-persona.

For more information on Amber Isle please check out the Amber Isle website.

Bootstrap Island Opens the Overlord’s Lair This Fall

London, UK, 15th July 2024 – Bootstrap Island, the stunning castaway adventure that was released via Steam Early Access in February is preparing its next major update. Adding exciting new content and features for all of you budding survivors, the update is scheduled to land on our shores this fall.

Known for its rich visuals and interactive survival mechanics, Bootstrap Island is set to challenge players even more with the addition of its first boss encounter. Inside the new Dark Lair, players will discover the fearsome Jungle Overlord who they’ll have to defeat before progressing further. Doing so will allow players to stomp deeper into the jungle like never before with new vital footwear. Equipping these increases walking and running speed, helpful for getting into (and out of) trouble.

Furthermore, the fall update offers a wealth of gameplay and Quality of Life improvements. New edible critters will become available to aid survivability and enrich the experience, whilst the very real-world problem of spoiling food challenges players to maintain their cooking skills.

“We are happy to offer a first real challenge for the talented survivors who have already mastered the basics of “Bootstrap Island”. The first boss monster in the game will be a massive beast, but he is also agile and cunning,” says Rein Zobel, Creative Director, Maru VR. Defeating him will require skill and planning, as ill-equipped players will only find death in his dark lair.”

KEY FEATURES

  • Boss Monster – A fearsome primate is blocking the way to deeper inland
  • Deep Jungle – A new area where the boss is ruling, ravaged by earthquakes
  • New and revamped Critters – More ways to interact with small critters and new small edible animals
  • QOL Improvements:
    • Spoiling – Food will spoil over time unless it is cooked
    • Boots – Equip boots to increase walking and running speed
    • Save – A save icon will now appear

This will be the second major update for Bootstrap Island since its Steam Early Access launch. In June, developer Maru VR Productions released the Building and Inventory update. This allowed players to construct shelters and customise them, protecting them from nighttime dangers. Additionally, a new inventory management system added a handy satchel to help in the collection of vital resources.

Maru VR Productions will be holding demos of Bootstrap Island during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany in August.
