All-new Takeover System and improved Badge Progression allow players to tailor enhancements to their own playstyles

2K today unveiled new upgrades coming to MyPLAYER Builder and MyCAREER in NBA 2K25 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With more ways to craft in MyPLAYER Builder, an all-new Takeover system and improved Badge progression, players can create their ideal MyPLAYER and stamp their name in the history books in a brand new MyCAREER. These new updates and features ensure that whether a user is new to NBA 2K, a returning player, or a savvy veteran, there’s more than one way to play. 

“MyPLAYER is the start of every journey and in NBA 2K25 we’ve added more ways for players to craft their legacy in a tailored and authentic way as they chase the win,” said Erick Boenisch, VP of NBA Development at Visual Concepts. “We designed MyPLAYER Builder to cater to different playstyles and strategic preferences for players of all levels. MyPLAYER and MyCAREER have a variety of new features and improvements this year, including:

• MyPLAYER Builder: The NBA 2K25 MyPLAYER Builder caters to all different playstyles and strategic preferences with a myriad of new possible archetypes to create. NBA 2K25 offers access to more information on a player’s Build than ever before. Dig deeper with the opportunity to preview all assets a Build now qualifies for, including Badges, Takeovers, and Signature Animations as well as customisation options like jump shot and dunk packages. Players can leverage the Build Tester and participate in 3v3, 5v5 or the new Freestyle practice option to preview and tinker with their new Build.
• A Brand-New Takeover System: NBA 2K25 introduces a brand new Takeover system, with 72 Takeovers and 14 Takeover Abilities. Each Takeover targets different attributes and has five levels, ranging from Level 1 when a player is heating up to Level 5 when they’re red hot. As players excel on the court, the Takeover Meter fills up, gradually boosting the targeted attributes as players rise up the five levels. Once a player reaches Level 5, their Takeover Abilities will turn on automatically and if used effectively, it can make them the most dominant player on the court for a short period of time.
• Improved Badges: Badges in NBA 2K25 are more impactful and all-encompassing than ever before. With the list refined to 40 Badges, each one now feels equally valuable and desirable. Badge progression is designed to match a player’s on-court actions – the more a player uses a Badge the faster it will progress. NBA 2K25 will introduce a new level of Badges higher than Hall of Fame called Legend. Also new this year are Badge Elevators that can boost individual badges to higher levels and Cap Breakers to increase attribute ratings above max potential “caps” set at build creation. Badge Perks and Performance Multipliers will also receive updated perks. 
• Heart of a Dynasty. MyCAREER in NBA 2K25 is all about building the next great dynasty. Ranked against the best dynasties in NBA history, players will vie to make deep playoff runs and win championships in order to climb the Dynasty Rankings and etch their legacy above the best. Before winning it all, players can lay the foundation of their career and relive their MyPLAYER’s journey to the NBA from high school to FIBA games in a new flashback story called Heart of a Dynasty. Finally, Key Games are back and upgraded to give players more choice and control over how they progress through their MyPLAYER’s career.

Illumineers can get hands on with Shimmering Skies at their local game store now ahead of its mass market release August 23, 2024

Sydney, August 9, 2024 – Ravensburger, the award-winning publisher of games, puzzles, and toys, has today released the latest set of the popular Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game. Set 5, Shimmering Skies, is out now at local game stores across Australia and New Zealand, and marks the start of organised play at over 200 stores in the region. Eager Illumineers can collect and play the newest Disney Lorcana glimmers before the set’s release through mass market retailers and the Disney Store on August 23, 2024. 

In Shimmering Skies, the realm of Lorcana holds a great festival to celebrate its recent victory over Ursula, which concluded the previous set, Ursula’s Return. While most of Lorcana participates in the vibrant, fun-filled activities, a new mystery begins as our Illumineers search for a way to repair the worsening damage Ursula caused to the Great Illuminary.  

Shimmering Skies features Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph with the introduction of characters like Vanellope Von Schweetz and Fix-it Felix Jr. In addition, players can anticipate new gameplay mechanics with an evolved story with gorgeous art – all of which is infused with electric energy that amplifies both the celebration and the gameplay. Netmarble achieved its highest quarterly revenue to-date – reporting globally $579.75 million in revenue during Q2, with $111.97 million in EBITDA. The company recorded an operating profit of $82.44 million and net profit of $120.30 million this quarter.

Netmarble’s Q2 2024 financial results include:

• Cumulatively for 2024, Netmarble earned $1.01 billion in sales and $143.64 million in EBITDA, reporting an operating profit of $85.18 million and a net profit of $112.98 million.
• North America led revenues (40%) with diversification across other key territories as follows: Korea (24%), Europe (13%), Southeast Asia (10%), and Japan (6%), and other regions (7%).
• Netmarble’s portfolio showed diversification across various genres, including RPG (45%), Casual Games (34%), MMORPG (15%), and other genres (6%).
• Top performing titles for the second quarter included: Solo Leveling: ARISE (20%), Marvel Contest of Champions (9%), Jackpot World (7%), Lotsa Slots (6%), Cash Frenzy (6%), Arthdal Chronicles: Three Factions (5%), The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross (4%), and Raven 2 (4%).
