Blades of Fire 2.0 – WeeklyFeature Spotlight Transmutation

Milton Keynes, UK – 28 April, 2026: Developer MercurySteam and publisher 505 Games are pleased to share the second episode of the weekly feature video series dedicated to Blades of Fire – Version 2.0, launching on Steam PC on May 14.

This new episode spotlights one of the key additions coming with Version 2.0 – an update designed to expand gameplay possibilities for Aran and Adso: Transmutation.

You can check out the second episode here – Ep2 Transmuation

With Version 2.0, Blades of Fire introduces Transmutation, a brand-new system that allows players to convert materials directly at the forge.

Players can transmute any material into another, provided it has already been discovered during their journey. The process is simple: select the material you want to create, then choose the material you wish to convert.

Materials are grouped into tiers, with more lower-tier materials needed to transmute into a higher-tier material. Conversely, higher-tier materials can also be used to produce more lower-tier materials.

Transmutation allows you to rebalance your inventory and turn excess resources into the exact materials your next weapon needs.

Ready to see it in action?

Download the Blades of Fire demo, available now on Steam and experience the new Photo Mode – along with other features included in Version 2.0 – ahead of the official launch.

Starting May 14, the 2.0 update will be available for free on all other platforms too (PS5, Xbox, Epic, PC). Don’t forget to wishlist Blades of Fire on Steam, and stay tuned for next week’s feature spotlight!

Cozy x Horror: The Start of a New Game Genre

The Road Of Dust And Sorrow Launches Debut Demo

Macclesfield, UK – 28 April, 2025

Amidst the chaos of the apocalypse, you have to hold your loved ones close.  Silver Lining Interactive and Painted Black Games are proud to invite players to a different kind of desolation. The playabledemo for The Road of Dust and Sorrow is available now on Steam and Itch.io, offering a unique blend of story-driven horror, and the tender, quiet nostalgia of a world left behind.

A Love Letter to Pixel Art
While heavily reminiscent of the emotional weight of The Last of Us and the mechanical tension of mid-90s survival classics, The Road of Dust and Sorrow carves its own path through stunning, handcrafted pixel art. Every decaying street and blood-splattered corridor is rendered with a meticulous level of detail that finds beauty in the breakdown – evokingan almost cozy-horror feeling.

Cozy The Last of Us

The Road of Dust and Sorrow draws inspiration from mid-90s classics but infuses them with a modern, soulful focus on the bond between parent and child. As Katherine, you navigate a world of haunting beauty and danger while protecting your daughter, Ava, from creatures driven by a primal hunger. By shifting the focus from mindless carnage to story-driven survival, the game blurs the line between necessity and cruelty, forcing you to wonder just how far is too far when protecting the only thing you have left.

“This project is our heart,” says Roman, Head Developer at Painted Black Games. “We’ve learned that when the world feels uncertain, you find strength in those you love. We built this game on that belief, and we hope our players feel it too.’’

About The Road of Dust and Sorrow

The Road of Dust and Sorrow is a tense, story-driven pixel art horror inspired by ’90s classics. Survive a world gone wrong and protect what matters most: your daughter.

Dive into a story-driven survival-horror adventure inspired by classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. A cure designed to end famine became humanity’s ruin. The failed experiment twisted people into feral creatures called Dusters, driven by primal hunger. Katherine and her daughter Ava roam the remnants of civilization, searching for a safer future. Their journey draws the attention of a Preacher and his mysterious cult, driven by an ancient hunger, they see humans as fertile soil.

A FALLEN WORLD

Streets lie abandoned, buildings rot from the inside out, and vegetation is growing back at an accelerated rate. Traces of the past linger, in homes – barricaded for protection, offices with supplies scattered, and stores picked clean of supplies. Humanity is shaped by desperation, how far will you go to survive?

FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE

Claw your way through decaying streets, bloodthirsty monsters, locked rooms, and forgotten corridors. Solve environmental puzzles, uncover hidden paths, and survive encounters with feral Dusters for a chance to reach safety. Proceed with caution every door can lead to salvation… or devastation.

PROTECT WHAT MATTERS MOST

Protect Ava at all cost. The world can die but she must live. Every step draws you deeper into a place that wants you gone. No one will save you, but you can fight. You can run. You can try to get her to safety.

A new trailer showcasing Guild Wars Reforged on mobile can be viewed below.

Additionally, a new update celebrating today’s 21st anniversary of the original launch of Guild Wars introduces a new post-Searing dungeon with a set of new quests and an unlockable new Mesmer hero, Ghost of Althea.

Originally developed for Windows PCs by Bellevue, WA-based studio ArenaNet® in 2005, Guild Wars went on to win numerous awards and transform the MMORPG landscape with its innovative subscription-fee-free business model. In 2025, in association with co-development partner 2weeks, the game was relaunched as Guild Wars Reforged to renewed acclaim and interest, seeing a 500% increase in players logging in during launch week

Guild Wars Reforged added controller support, improved in-game functionality via high-DPI support for modern high-resolution monitors, new HD skill icons, rendering improvements like new antialiasing options, ambient occlusion, enhanced bloom, more font size options for game text, enhanced 3D environmental audio, and a new quest-tracker to help players navigate to their next adventure. In the months following, the game has received a series of free updates for all players that added new challenging game modes and improved quality of life adjustments.

“Together with 2weeks, we used our experience building the Steam and Steam Deck experience to gain detailed knowledge of the internal systems of the game,” said game director Stephen Clarke-Willson. “That deep dive into the user interface code has been rolled into rebuilding the user experience for mobile platforms. Meanwhile we have also been improving the onboarding experience in the “Pre-Searing” portion of the Prophecies Campaign.  One very cool thing is that mobile players and PC players will play together on the same servers, and player progress will be automatically ported between mobile and PC.”

“When we were first working on the original Guild Wars way back in the early 2000s I never imagined we’d be playing the game 20 years later on cell phones,” said Brandon Dillon, co-founder of 2weeks. “The game has aged remarkably well and delivering the fans continuous access to their accounts, characters, and memories is a testament to the game’s engineering and forward-looking development support.”

An evocative world of conflicts and contrasts that dares to ask the hard questions and investigate the powers of empathy, the poisons of fear, and the burdens of being human during inhumane times. An iconic and unforgiving playground of endless possibilities that picks you up, slaps you in the face, and tells you to wake up.
Time to live. Or time to die.

Released in 2022, the Blade Runner The Roleplaying Game propels you into the streets of Los Angeles as Blade Runners with unique specialties, personalities – and memories. The game pushes the boundaries of investigative gameplay in tabletop RPGs, giving you a range of tools to solve an array of cases far beyond retiring Replicants.

The World’s Biggest Text-Based MMO, TORN, Surpasses 100,000 Daily Active Players After 22 Years At The Top

TORN has announced that, as of Monday, April 27, their text-based crime RPG has officially surpassed 100,000 daily active players for the first time in the game’s history.

Now in its 22nd year of operation, this record breaking milestone highlights TORN’s continued success as a community-driven experience and complex social simulation, one which continues to thrive and surprise decades after its release. In January 2024, TORN recorded 48,515 daily active players. Just over two years later, that figure has more than doubled, breaking the 100,000 mark for the first time ever.

“Since our launch in 2004, our Daily Active Players counter has been the primary metric we’ve used to assess the health of TORN’s playerbase. Breaking the five-digit barrier on the login page counter has been a dream of mine for a very long time, one I genuinely never thought was possible.

This incredible growth was made possible by two initiatives. First, we worked hard to increase TORN’s capacity to host more players through widespread optimisation across our infrastructure and codebase. Second, we pushed our advertising and PR campaigns in multiple new directions. Thankfully, we’ve been successful on both counts. TORN is faster than it has ever been, despite the vast increase in our playerbase, and for the first time in two decades we are seeing significant, sustained growth.” – Joe Chedburn, Founder of TORN.

About TORN

Launched in 2004, TORN began life as a bedroom PHP experiment conducted by Joe Chedburn, a 16-year-old college dropout working part-time at Greggs. Today, the game is run by a team of around fifty developers and creatives spread across the UK, USA, Ukraine, Thailand and beyond.

TORN’s playerbase has grown with the game – mostly because they never log off – with marriages, births, and even a few real-life job offers resulting from its existence. Its established playerbase of veterans is constantly refreshed, with over 30,000 new citizens arriving in the past year alone, many of whom now likely find themselves on several government watchlists.

With no release dates, no toxic crunch culture, and no shareholders to placate, TORN continues to expand at its own pace. New features and updates are scheduled for 2026 and beyond, with the developers committed to releasing content only when it is ready. That dedication to quality has helped TORN to outlive its rivals, with its longevity meaning it will likely persist beyond the lives of its creators, players, and possibly the internet itself.

DiabloUnleashes “Reward the Scars”, New Video and Song from KoЯn

New Original Song Debuts Alongside Global Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred Launch, Marking the Legendary Band’s First New Music in Over Four Years

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today debuted a music video for “Reward the Scars,” an original new song created by Korn, the multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning band whose influence has shaped heavy music for over three decades. The song, released alongside the new Diablo® IV expansion, Lord of Hatred™, is Korn’s first new music in over four years. Channelling the emotional weight, intensity, and darkness that both brands are known for, “Reward the Scars” explores what remains after the fight: pain, survival, and what that ultimately turns you into.

Long recognised for their raw, confessional songwriting and willingness to confront themes of pain, trauma, and transformation, Korn bring a perspective that naturally aligns with Diablo’s universe, thus making the collaboration feel like an extension of their core identity.

The song was debuted live during Korn’s recent set at Sick New World, offering fans an early glimpse of the prodigious track. The official music video builds on that, bringing Diablo’s world to life through a visual lens defined by dread, power, and resistance.

“I’ve played Diablo for years, so getting to step into that world creatively felt natural,” said Jonathan Davis, Korn frontman. “I’ve always connected to the darkness in the game and the idea of confronting what lives beneath the surface –– that’s something Korn has explored in our music from the beginning. ‘Reward the Scars’ came out of our own writing sessions as a new Korn song, and it became clear pretty quickly that it was a natural fit for Diablo.”

“This collaboration came together naturally—Korn and Diablo live in that space of confronting darkness head-on,” said Kevin Bjelajac, VP of Brand & Creative Marketing at Blizzard. “With Lord of Hatred, we’re telling a story about consequence, choice, and what it means to embrace—or resist—the pull of evil. ‘Reward the Scars’ captures that spirit perfectly.”

The “Reward the Scars” music video is available on both Diablo and Korn official channels.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, launching today, is the second expansion to Diablo IV and the climactic conclusion to the Age of Hatred saga. As the hour of reckoning approaches, players are drawn into a final confrontation with Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, whose influence now threatens to consume Sanctuary entirely. What began as an act to contain evil now comes due—forcing players to face the consequences of that choice and determine the fate of a world on the brink.

ABOUT DIABLO
Blizzard Entertainment’s iconic Diablo universe transformed video games forever in 1997, defining the action-RPG genre while immersing players in a dark world of damnation unprecedented in the industry. Diablo® IV, the latest instalment in the genre-defining series, features cross-platform play and progression on Windows® PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Steam.  Learn more about Diablo IV here

ABOUT KORN
Korn are a two-time GRAMMY Award-winning band who have shaped the course of modern music for over three decades. Emerging from Bakersfield, California in the early ’90s, the band helped define and popularise a new style of heavy music by blending metal, hip-hop, and industrial influences into a sound that redefined the genre’s boundaries and continues to inform the progression of other genres of music today.

With over 40 million albums sold worldwide, multiple platinum releases, and a catalogue that includes landmark albums such as Follow the Leader and Issues, Korn have remained a constant force across generations of heavy and popular music alike. Known for their raw, confessional songwriting and visceral live performances, the band continues to headline major festivals and stadiums globally.
