PAX West 2025 Returns to Seattle Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, 2025

SEATTLE – Sept. 2, 2024 – Show organizers ReedPop and Penny Arcade revealed today at the conclusion of PAX West, the West Coast’s most-attended gaming event, that the 2025 edition will return to the Seattle Convention Center for Labor Day Weekend from Friday, Aug. 29, to Monday, Sept. 1, 2025.

PAX West 2024 hosted more than one hundred thousand attendees from around the world, with even more participating in the festivities via Twitch, Steam and other online platforms. Highlights included the Storytime with Phil Spencer, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Gaming; hands-on opportunities with Sony’s Astro Bot; Nintendo demos including the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Super Mario Party Jamboree; and anticipated multiplatform releases like the North American hands-on debut of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds.

PAX West featured a massive expo hall dedicated to tabletop titles, intense competitive gaming in the PAX Arena, live concerts, intriguing panel discussions, community meetups, and opportunities to play games with others across three massive buildings. Fans who missed out on some of the exciting panels and live shows such as the latest Acquisitions Inc. session can catch up with uploads of all the recorded content on the PAX official YouTube channel.

PAX West 2025 will happen in its traditional Labor Day weekend time in the region where Penny Arcade was founded and the first PAX took place. Fans looking ahead to next year can expect expo halls full of developers, and four days of insightful panels and exciting live entertainment.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been twenty years since the founding of PAX, but the energy it was founded with is still there,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder of PAX, Penny Arcade, and Child’s Play. “In some ways, I feel like we’re just getting started.”

While fans have to wait a year for the next PAX West, PAX will continue to bring gaming communities together with PAX Aus taking place from Friday, Oct. 11, to Sunday, Oct. 13, in Melbourne, Australia; the tabletop-focused PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia from Friday, Dec. 2, to Sunday, Dec. 4; and PAX East in Boston from Thursday, May 8, 2025, to Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Let SWAP/MEAT Cook: Totally Normal Co-Op Shooter Steams into Playtest After Winning devcom Indie Award

Hot off the Grill at Gamescom and PAX, One More Game Asks Players for a Taste Test Starting September 6

SEATTLE – September 4, 2024 – SWAP/MEAT, a very new (and very normal) co-op shooter from veteran devs One More Game, launches into its next playtest this Friday, September 6 at 11 AM Pacific Time  (through Tuesday, September 10 at 12 PM PDT). The game’s hot off the grill: a buffet of Gamescom and PAX events, including the Future Games Show, the Seattle Indies Expo, and devcom, where the title got the nod for the ‘Creative Overkill’ category at the show’s Indie Awards.

Less than a year into development, SWAP/MEAT is a roguelite third-person shooter where you raid the weirdest worlds and angriest aliens in the universe…for their meat. Swap meat with the enemies you defeat to steal their abilities and augment your hero on the fly, and fight alongside your friends to bring home the bacon.

Members of the media and content creators are invited to register to join the playtest, and receive a custom invite link guaranteeing access for some members of their audience.

Interested players can apply to join the playtest, and for a limited time, if you refer three friends, your whole squad gets in. The first Meat Lab playtest took place in July, and feedback from players helped the OMG team improve their savory recipe, with list of patch notes that looks like the menu at The Cheesecake Factory, including a multitude of visual upgrades, bug fixes, and systems refinement.

“We couldn’t be more hyped to invite players to sample the rich umami flavor of SWAP/MEAT,” said Jamie Stormbreaker, co-founder of OMG and game director of SWAP/MEAT. “It’s true that we’re showing the game after less than a year of cook time — but we can assure players the risk of foodborne illness is wildly overstated by the Intergalactic Food & Drug Administration. Don’t worry about it.”

In SWAP/MEAT, 1-4 players take on the role of a ‘Meat Scientist’ for Rangus Meats, a multi-galactic corporation dedicated to discovering the ultimate sustainable meat product to feed the universe (…at least that’s what they claim). On a run, players drop onto a series of increasingly challenging planets and engage in combat with the unfriendly locals, ‘swapping meat’ with the alien weirdos they defeat. Players can attach a wide swath of strange (and usually squishy) heads, legs and torsos to their bodies, gaining powerful abilities that let players change up their playstyles on the fly. Squads who successfully extract the ‘meat cores’ from three planets will face a brutal brawl with a bizarre boss.

Calling All Cultists: Forgive Me Father 2’s Second Content Update is Going Live on September 16

Get your hands on some all-new weapons when the latest update launches this month

Prague, Czech Republic – September 04 2024  – Good news, cultists! The second update to Fulqrum Publishing and Byte Barrel’s  Lovecraftian First Person Shooter title Forgive Me Father 2 will be going live on September 16! This update brings two all-new levels to the game, two new deadly enemies (including the game’s first flying enemy type), even more Madness skills and some shiny new weapons to add to your arsenal.

Botanic Garden Gameplay Preview

Drawing inspiration from various FPS subgenres, including classic boomer shooters like Quake and Doom, combined with modern mechanics, unique visual style and Unreal Engine 5 technology, Forgive Me Father 2 offers an action-packed retro-meets-cutting-edge love letter to all FPS fans. Building upon the original with a darker story, players are now entrenched deeper into the mythos, with equipable Dark Tome pages to upgrade your madness skills throughout the story. Be that healing wounds with Lifesteal, becoming more powerful with Might, boosting fire rate and reload speed with Haste or reducing incoming damage with Resistance, players can give their minds to the Eldritch apparitions to improve their chances of survival.

This update will include two new maps to explode – first of which is called the “Botanic Garden”. It’s home to a variety of flora, from colourful flowers to majestic trees, and many types of fungi including some truly enormous ones. Some of these intriguing species are on the brink of extinction, with their last specimens on display in this location. But don’t let appearances fool you – the level is far from a safe green paradise! Even more details about this intriguing addition to the game’s world can be found in a new article on Steam; details about the second level coming in this update will be shared at a later date.

Forgive Me Father 2: Obelisk (Exotic Weapon Variant)

But that’s not all! In this second content update, players will be able to get their hands on the Obelisk – an all-new exotic weapon that allows them to channel the power of the cosmos through their enemies. This railgun-type weapon shoots  a perfectly accurate, piercing beam of instant death that can obliterate most targets with a single shot, but also pierce through groups of enemies who are unfortunate enough to line up. Though with great power comes great reloading time – but its elaborate reloading animations is sure to keep you entertained in the meantime.

And that’s still not all! The Great Old Ones have allowed us to share a few juicy details about another weapon launching in this second content update. A second weapon is set to fill a spot in the exotic category, alongside the Obelisk. Is eternal evil ready for that amount of power? We’ll find out on September 16! Meanwhile, take a closer look at the weapon itself above.

You can find out more about this coming update to Forgive Me Father 2 via the game’s Steam News Hub, where Byte Barrell are sharing regular development updates.

And if you haven’t already, Forgive Me Father 2 is available for purchase via Steam right now – So you have plenty of time to practice your Wretch-killing skills before the second content update launches on September 16.

Anticipated Mystery Phoenix Springs Delayed To October 7th

Calligram Studio’s anticipated neo-noir mystery, Phoenix Springs, has been delayed until October 7th. Originally announced for a September 16th release date, the additional time will give the studio the time it needs to deliver on the anticipation built by its award-winning hand-drawn art and compelling investigative narrative.

“Thanks to everyone who has shown such enthusiasm for our game since we announced it and we hope you’re OK to just wait a little bit longer to play Phoenix Springs,” said Jigmé Özer, Calligram Studio founder. “We needed some extra time to get the game ready for release, so we made the decision to delay the game until October 7th. Thank you for your patience!”

Phoenix Springs begins when reporter Iris Dormer reconnects with her estranged brother. She finds herself in the titular Phoenix Springs, a desert oasis home to an enigmatic community. As she explores ancient ruins and interrogates a rich cast of characters, she must uncover the mysteries that connect the place, the myths, and herself.

As you follow leads and talk to characters, you will collect clues and leads in your inventory. Connect these clues with the environment or mention them in fully voice-acted conversations to progress. Discard false leads and red herrings as you solve logical puzzles designed to challenge and delight fans of story-rich interactive experiences.
