GSC Game World and Xbox launch “War Game: The Making of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2”

Documentary Now Available on Offical GSC and XBox YouTube Channels

KYIV, UKRAINE — October 3, 2024 – Titled War Game: The Making of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, this feature-length documentary offers an in-depth look at the emotional journey of GSC Game World, a Ukrainian video game developer with nearly 500 employees, as they navigate the challenges of developing the highly anticipated sequel to their 2007 first-person survival shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., amidst the outbreak of the full-fledged war in Ukraine. What started as an ambitious project evolved into a deeply personal and historical endeavor, forged in the most unimaginable circumstances.

Created in partnership with Xbox and directed by Andrew Stephan (Power On: The Story of Xbox), this is one of the most heart-wrenching “making-of” films ever made. It tells the true stories of real people faced with the realities of war on their doorstep.

The documentary tackles many themes from capturing the essence of Chornobyl and Ukraine, cultural independence, and game development in a collapsing world to personal and collective resilience & overcoming loss.

During this process, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 becomes more than just a game — rather a lens through which a new reality is viewed. The developers grapple with their dual roles as creators and survivors, turning their game into a powerful symbol of resistance. When the foundations of existence are shaken, art becomes profoundly important.

“This film isn’t just about the hardest game development of all time. It’s about resilience and the unyielding human spirit in the face of unimaginable challenges. It’s about the importance of creation in a time of destruction…a defiant act of making something meaningful in the face of adversity”, – says Andrew Stephan, Film Director.

“Speaking personally, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the biggest and the most complex video game in my life. It was ambitious from the very beginning, but turned out to be an ultimate challenge by itself. It’s extremely important and extremely personal, and it’s a game made in the most stressful circumstances possible. That includes the pandemic, relocation, cyberattacks and, above all of that – war tearing our Homeland apart.
I wish the war never happened. I wish all of this never happened. But it did. And we’re grateful for the opportunity to share all of this with the world, because the world should know. This is us. This is our story”, – says Mariia Grygorovych, Creative Director on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Despite the heroism of the nation, the war in Ukraine continues. GSC Game World has been supporting our home country in all the ways we can. For those willing to do the same, we recommend following a link to the official charity fund of Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine himself – https://u24.gov.ua/

Crashlands 2 Becomes Cozylands 2 in Wholesome New Trailer Ahead of Q1 2025 Launch

Crashlands 2, the friendship-fueled open-world crafting RPG sequel to the popular (1 million downloads!) Crashlands, showcases its wholesome side in the latest trailer. Developer Butterscotch Shenanigans will welcome intergalactic explorers to Woanope on PC via Steam and the Netflix mobile app in Q1 2025.

In an innocent attempt to recover from corporate burnout and attend Grandmammy’s surprise birthday party — SHHH, it’s a secret! — former intergalactic trucker Flux Dabes unexpectedly crash-land-two’s on the lively planet of Woanope. Yea, sure, Flux will craft crazy weapons, blast aliens, yada yada yada…but what if you just want to chill on Woanope? We hear ya: here’s how you can do exactly that!

Start from scratch and build a comfy home wall by wall – and doors, floors, and ceilings; we’re not animals. Okay, fine, we’re animals, but, uh, animals that can appreciate a good… floor… Add personality to your house with a wealth of tables, chairs, pots, and other unlockable decorations. Craft the ultimate hangout spot for Flux’s newfound friends (including the -ahem- real animals: your pets!).

Speaking of buddies, make life-long friends with eccentric alien locals (or is it you who are the alien?) like the gruff but well-intentioned Graal, or the kind-but-lost Oowee. Learn about (and from!) your new friends, help them find themselves, and get help in turn. Integrate yourself into local communities and work together to keep Woanope safe!

In search of a more cuddly (or fearsome) companion? I mean, Graal has a metaphorically fiery side, but what if you want some real fire?  Nurture, name and train adorable pet variants of the wild creatures found throughout Woanope. Upgrade their abilities and watch them grow into formidable beings. “Embiggen” each pet and unlock special recipes as they become even more powerful.

Whether you’re looking for the tranquility of fishing, farming, critter-catching, and home decor, or an action-packed adventure of slapping weird-looking enemies across Woanope, Crashlands 2 has you covered! Choose from Chill, Adventure, or Challenge Modes to curate a desired experience. Pick your combat style, from avoidant (stealth, traps, distance), to high-skilled and fast, to down-right spooky (send your pain into the Void to exact future vengeance). There’s so much to see, do, and build while exploring the beautifully handcrafted world of Woanope!

Crashlands 2 will launch on PC via Steam and the Netflix mobile app in Q1 2025. Follow Butterscotch Shenanigans on Twitter/X and Facebook, and join their Discord server for more updates.

Whitethorn Games and EPHEMERA Reveal Pulse-Pounding Co-Op Multiplayer Roguelike Kernel Hearts

Ascend the Tower of Babel, Harness Powerful Abilities, Befriend Allies, and Challenge the Divine in This High-Stakes Roguelike Adventure

Erie, Pennsylvania (October 2, 2024) — If the only way to bring a world back from the edge of the apocalypse was to destroy its god, would you have the power to do it? Today, Whitethorn Games — publisher of inclusive, accessible, approachable games — and developer EPHEMERA are thrilled to introduce a brand-new title — the action-packed multiplayer roguelike Kernel Hearts. Combining challenging hack-’n-slash gameplay, role-playing, and roguelike elements with stunning anime aesthetics, you will battle your way up a deadly celestial tower, building your arsenal of skills with each mortal demise to eradicate monstrous angelic enemies and dethrone a god to save the world.

As a member of M.A.H.O.U Unit — an elite fighting force of super-powered android magical girls — you and up to three allies are tasked with one thing: destroy a god to save the world from the brink of extinction. Starting from the base of the mythical Tower of Babel, you’ll fight your way through an array of powerful enemies from all sides, as you climb each level, gaining crucial skills and magical powers to help you surmount its pinnacle — and the new threats each floor brings with it. Defeat is no excuse; only the most resolute soldiers will reach the heavenly heights in order to dethrone their god — are you up for the task?

Key Features of Kernel Hearts include:

  • Ascend to the Ultimate Being of Destruction: In every run, hunt for temporary skills that enhance your attacks, spells, and movement, empowering you to unleash devastating strikes and combos. Use these abilities to conquer the relentless enemies on each floor and exterminate the fearsome boss guardians that rule each domain.
  • The End is Just the Beginning: Facing enemies of biblical proportions requires persistence and grit, but a sudden demise isn’t the end. After each run, your unit returns to the lab, where you can use the rewards from previous missions to unlock and equip up to 256KB of skill chips. Customize your unit with these chips to match your unique playstyle.
  • Magical Transformations: The curse of the Tower is ever-present, and spending too much time in one area draws out even more powerful enemies. Harness the Tower’s energy to dispel the curses, briefly transform into your ultimate magical form and unleash annihilating attacks on any foes standing in your way.
  • Squad Up: Play alone or with up to three friends, honing and synergizing your skills to become the ultimate fighting force to get you to the top.
  • Friends in High Places: Each celestial domain hosts unique allies to help you on your journey. Befriend them to deepen your bond and maybe find love along the way!

Kernel Hearts will be available on PC via Steam. Accessibility features for the game will be announced in the coming months.
