Apogee’s Retro FPS “Wizordum” Summons Episode 3 and 1.0 Release March 5th

DALLASDec. 4, 2024Wizordum, the retro first-person spellcaster developed by Emberheart Games and published by Apogee Entertainment, conjures a 1.0 launch date for PC via Steam on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, as announced today at the OTK Games Expo

Wizordum has been in Early Access, currently with its first two episodes. Finally, Episode 3completes the game and takes the last surviving mage of Wizordum on a supernatural chase into the most dangerous levels yet. Wage all-out war against the evil keepers of Chaos. Seven vast new levels with three new weapons await players.

Scott Miller, CEO of Apogee: “This game checks all of the boxes for me, with its old-school colorful charm, but with forward thinking gameplay that matches today’s standards. It’s a rare mix that takes me back to when we released Wolfenstein 3D to the world, and for us making a magical game that looks like it’s from that era had enormous appeal. I’ve been happily playtesting it nonstop!”

Episode 3 adds many cool areas, including both fire and ice levels, with lava flows and chillingly deadly icicles. Hitch a ride on a minecart that will insta-splat any enemy in its path.

New weapons include the Faewood Crossbow, shooting path-clearing magical bolts, and the Staff of Chaos, a weapon that dispenses chaotic, untamed fire, ice and storm attacks that can’t be controlled, so just aim in the right direction and let the destruction happen!

Wizordum is a game full of secret areas and easter eggs like all Apogee games going back to the 90’s. Even a Dopefish awaits to be found–a creature that first appeared in Commander Keen.

Also, locate Lore Scrolls dispersed throughout the realm that tell of Terrabruma’s peculiar past, and enjoy quality-of-life upgrades to previous episodes. Design speedrun-friendly challenges, full-length episodes, and everything in between with the in-game level editor.

“Every step of our journey with Wizordum has been massively fulfilling, and with the upcoming launch of 1.0, we can’t wait to welcome new mages to confront Chaos,” said Primož Vovk, developer at Emberheart Games. “With new locations, weapons, and the conclusion of the epic story, we’ve succeeded in creating a fitting ending to our homage to fantasy shooters of the past.”

Wizordum is launching in 1.0 on March 5, 2025, and currently available on PC via Steam Early Access for $14.99. To learn more about the magical world of Wizordum, check out the official Wizordum X / Twitter account and Discord. About Apogee Entertainment

Apogee is featured in John Romero’s new book, Doom Guy, along with Masters of Doom, the new FPS documentary, the book Shareware Heroes (2022 release), and many others – because Apogee was a critical player in the rise of the PC gaming, essentially creating the indie scene.

Apogee also funded, produced and published Id Software’s Wolfenstein 3D, the first ever FPS game, and also created pioneering games like Duke Nukem 3D, numerous Duke console games, Prey, Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad, and co-owned/co-created Max Payne 1 & 2. These games all earned over $1.5 billion commercially. (Apogee used the “3D Realms” label for many of these releases, but the company was always Apogee.)

The renamed Apogee Entertainment, with original founder Scott Miller still at the helm, continues to empower today’s incredibly talented indie developers. Apogee currently has nine other games currently in development.

Trash Master’s Domain as Cute Doggos in “DORONKO WANKO” on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2025

New pup breeds coming to Steam alongside Switch launch

TOKYO – Dec. 4th, 2024 – DORONKO WANKO, the casual-yet-mischievous mess-making adventure game developed by Bandai Namco Studio, tracks muddy paw prints onto the Nintendo Switch eShop in Spring 2025, alongside the addition of new dog breeds for both Steam and Switch at launch, as just announced at OTK Winter Games Expo 2024.

Mom keeps her house so pristine! It would be a shame if…newly-added furry friends…made a heckin’ mess all over the place! Alongside DORONKO WANKO’s playful Pomeranian protagonist, unleash the rascal within as three new breeds are added to the mix of playable puppers.

How much will it cost to clean this up? As much as possible! Roll around in nearby puddles, tippy-tap into clean areas of the house, then shake-shake-shake to splatter muddy mayhem in every direction and rack up a six-figure housekeeping bill. Don’t worry, master could never be mad at such a cute, smol doggo, right?

Hop onto kitchen countertops, run across shelves, and into various rooms to paint a multicolored messterpiece by knocking over nearby staining liquids like tomato juice, wine, coffee, ink, and paint. Explore the entire house to find special rooms in which to wreak even more havoc prior to discovery.

Snoot-boop power buttons of nearby appliances — like robot vacuums and fans — that can fling muck even further than any floofer’s tiny toe beans could ever touch. Don dirt-spreading wearables like miniature mess cannons and sludge-spouting whales to dishevel rooms at a devious pace. Pick up misplaced items like mugs and toys, then return them to the right spot to solve bamboozling puzzles that unlock special gifts.

“Whether a veteran gamer needs a cozy, dog-themed palette cleanser, or a young child is experiencing their intro to the wonders of video games, DORONKO WANKO provides charming fun for all ages,” says Bandai Namco Studios. “We’re proud to bring an enjoyable, accessible game to such a prominent platform as the Nintendo Switch.”

DORONKO WANKO is now available on Steam with language options in English and Japanese, and arriving on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2025. Avoid social situations in comedy adventure game A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe

If anyone talks to you your head will explode!

Los Angeles, California, December 4th, 2024 – Quail Button has timidly revealed their upcoming comedy point-and-click adventure game A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe. The game that asks the question: are you giraffe enough to get through the week without talking to anyone?

Meet Giraffe. He’s quite happy with his life. He likes listening to lo-fi music, drinking matcha, eating sushi, taking care of his succulent plants, and writing haikus. There’s just one problem: Giraffe is so anxious about being in social situations that his head will literally explode if he ever talks to anyone.

That’s a big problem, as Giraffe lives in Friendly City – voted Friendliest City in the World! Every day, friendly neighbors all want to stop and chat. They want Giraffe to help them with their problems. Or want to share their life story. So Giraffe must use his wits to stealthily sneak around Friendly City and avoid its overly loquacious residents.

Experience an average week of Giraffe’s life as he goes about exciting things on his to-do list, such as going to the laundromat, perusing antique stores, purchasing groceries, and working out at the gym – all while making sure the incredibly sociable citizens of Friendly City never have a chance to speak with him!

“With A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe we wanted to make a game that captures the internal conflict and unease that comes with wanting social interaction, while paradoxically being too timid to engage,” said the writer and level designer at Quail Button. “Because even the most extraverted people still have moments of shyness. In that sense, there’s a little Asocial Giraffe in all of us.”

This game is for anyone who dreads having to make small talk, who prefers silence to society, or who has staged a coma to avoid a chatty neighbor.

Features:

  • A story about avoiding social contact at all costs, so Giraffe can live his best life
  • A chore-filled week’s worth of levels that combine the logic and humor of point-and-click adventure puzzles with the tension of stealth games
  • Try to avoid Friendly City’s friendly residents, who all just want to talk your head off– literally
  • Unique visual storytelling and artistic style inspired by 1950s cartoons, with frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation.
  • Audio that combines the diegetic soundscape of Friendly City with the calming melody of lo-fi music
