REVAMPED COMBAT COMES TO ‘LORDS OF THE FALLEN’ WITH TODAY’S VERSION 1.7

Thursday, 12th December 2024 – HEXWORKS, a CI Games studio, has announced it’s to release Version 1.7 for Lords of the Fallen on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation®5, today at 6pm GMT (10am PT, 1pm ET, 7pm CET). The update delivers a notable upgrade to the dark fantasy, action-RPG’s combat ‘feel’, following an extended period of community feedback and rigorous player testing. As a result, version 1.7 gives players enhanced and more responsive combat and control through a series of measures, including more accurate animation cancelling, improved invincibility frames, more intuitive dodge and rolls, grievous strike button prompts, an across-the-board stamina recalibration, and more.

These latest improvements help make character control feel more dynamic and natural, especially in combat, lowering the entry barrier for new players while also increasing the skill ceiling for more experienced players.

Version 1.7 also features numerous quality-of-life updates, including the option to toggle automatic Vigor collection (first added in November’s v1.6 update), more realistic enemy attack ranges and tracking for more immersive encounters, and brings further balancing to the New Game Plus experience. To support new Lords of the Fallen players, HEXWORKS has introduced the ability to beckon NPCs to help in boss battles before their first encounter (previously this could only be done after being initially defeated) and has tweaked their stats to make them more viable allies in combat. Version 1.7 also sees a player-favourite character, the Hallowed Sentinel Hound (aka ‘Good Boy’) become a new NPC to beckon for boss battles.

Since the release of Version 1.6 at the start of November, HEXWORKS has continued to provide further support for Lords of the Fallen. This includes improved platforming, the start of ongoing tutorial improvements, and a more exploration-friendly Umbral realm, as well as ongoing quality-of-life enhancements and bug fixes.

Today’s release coincides with the Standard Edition of Lords of the Fallen being available on Steam  at 60% off for a limited time only – its lowest price point to date on the platform.

The Plucky Squire gets a brand new Streamlined Mode for seasoned adventurers who don’t need as much hand-holding

Earlier this year, multi-dimensional developer All Possible Futures and ink-stained publisher Devolver Digital launched The Plucky Squire on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch to great acclaim.

But for some of you more experienced adventurers, Jot’s dimension-hopping quest through the Land of Mojo was a little too eager to hold your hand.

Which is why we’re delighted to present a brand new version of The Plucky Squire aimed at those brave warriors unafraid to venture forth without any help.

You can still play the game as it was before, but a new abridged Streamlined Mode has been added for anyone who’d prefer a less hand-holdy experience. This trims less necessary dialogue, removes or reduces camera hints, cuts out some tutorial content, and control of the game is taken away from you less often.

It’s the same grand Plucky Squire adventure, just tweaked to remove some of the friction for seasoned gamers.

This free update also adds classy new dialogue portraits for the major characters, as well as some general bug fixes and other small improvements.

The Plucky Squire’s free Streamlined Mode update is available now on PC, and will be coming to consoles very soon.

Stealth Action ‘Card-Sim’ “Sleight of Hand” Infiltrates Day of the Devs with Tactical Espionage

Joshua Boggs provides a development update following the unique stealth game’s March reveal

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – Dec. 11, 2024 – Sleight of Hand, a third-person, card-slinging occult noir stealth game from RiffRaff Games, premiered a behind-the-scenes video trailer today at Day of the Devs 2024: The Game Awards Edition. From the team led by Joshua Boggs, creator of the multi-award-winning noir puzzle game FRAMED, Sleight of Hand invites players to unravel an occult mystery as Lady Luck, a retired detective pulled in to do one last job – bring down her former coven.

Set in the rain-soaked streets of Steeple City, the game follows Lady Luck (voiced by Debi Mae West, known for her role as Meryl Silverburgh in Metal Gear Solid), as she investigates her old witch coven and its recent rise to power. Armed with a taboo deck of cursed cards, players will uncover sinister truths, navigate ritualistic magic systems, and mete out justice against their past companions as they see fit, in a world dripping with noir flavour.

Players will harness the power of their cards to outwit enemies: see through walls, blind opponents to avoid detection, or vanish in a puff of smoke to evade capture. When stealth fails, turn the tables with devastating curses and combos. Upgrade your deck to unleash powerful abilities like the Crone’s Mark to crush the bones in an enemy’s body, or use synergies to inflict Hexes, teleport behind targets, and execute silent takedowns.

“Tight alleys, secret occult rituals, and hidden speakeasies make Sleight of Hand a treasure trove of hard-boiled mysteries,” said Joshua Boggs, Game Director and Founder at RiffRaff Games. “Lady Luck’s journey through Steeple City’s underworld blends stealth-action with deckbuilding elements in unexpected ways, giving players the freedom to carve their own path through the game.”

Sleight of Hand is coming to PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass “when it’s ready”. Check out today’s trailer revealed at Day of the Devs here! For more information, check out the game’s Steam page, follow RiffRaff Games on X, Instagram, and Facebook, and visit the game’s official website

Dungeon defense game Keep the Heroes Out!  Kickstarter ends in two days after hitting 20x its goal

Last chance to get rewards!

Halifax, Canada, December 11th, 2024 – Board game creator Brueh Games and video game developer YarnCat Games are proud to announce that their video game adaptation of Luís Brueh’s acclaimed strategy board game Keep the Heroes Out! has made over 20 times its goal, with a current tally of over $200,000! Along the way it’s smashed through numerous stretch goals, ensuring the final game will be as feature-filled as possible. If you’d like to get in on its exclusive rewards – like securing the digital game for $15 – you still have 48 hours left before the Kickstarter campaign ends on Friday, December 13th at 2pm PST.

Keep the Heroes Out! is an asymmetric, cooperative dungeon defense game for 1-4 players where you play as the monsters protecting their hard-earned treasures against invading hordes of “heroes” trying to steal it.

Your goal as a team is to survive going through the Guild deck two times, protecting the treasures in each room. If the main treasure is taken, the game ends in defeat, but if you manage to protect your treasures for long enough, you all win. Monsters may die, which is tragic, but you can always bring them back to the dungeon, so you are never eliminated from the game. However, once the treasure is gone, it’s gone forever.

The digital game brings the tabletop experience faithfully to life, with the same art style and gameplay, only now being that the computer controls the nasty heroes invading our lair. This means you can play solo against the AI, or get a gaming going remotely with your friends from afar. Furthermore, YarnCat Games has boosted the visuals with fluid animation and a tutorial to help onboard new players. There’s never been an easier, more convenient way to get into hero thwarting!

The original board game version of Keep the Heroes Out! was a massive success, selling over 70,000 copies since its launch in 2022. It became a Golden Geek Best Cooperative Game Nominee at BoardGameGeek, where it’s currently ranked as the 664th best board game of all time out of a database of roughly 156,000 titles.
