Pokedex 3D Updated

As all 3DS owners should now be aware of, there is a Pokedex application for players to enjoy at their leisure. While not all that exctiting in itself, the Pokedex application did expand the capabilities of the 3DS and create an evnironment in which players could collect different Pokemon and trade them with their friends over QR code or Infra-red communications.

The update to the program, can be applied by clicking on the gear icon on the top right and scrolling to the bottom and hitting the update button. This update includes many new features, such as –

The update includes several new buttons that you can use when inside various Pokédex 3D functions. When you’re checking out a Pokémon’s action in its Pokédex entry, you can hit the Pause button to stop the Pokémon mid-motion. You can also use the Stopwatch button to freeze a Pokémon in place in the AR Viewer and the Note button to hear a Pokémon’s cry!

There’s also a new AR Settings menu you can access inside the AR Viewer. With Scale Settings, you can switch between two modes: Model Mode, which lets you scale a Pokémon to make it easier to see, and Actual Mode, which

Europe and PAL Gets UC3 Multiplayer Access

In North America, you get the chance to play Uncharted 3 multiplayer by heading to a local Subway and buying a drink. For Europe and PAL territories, there is a simpler, more expensive approach. If you are a Playstation Plus subscriber on October 5, then you get access to the multiplayer content. Cue the celebrations. If not, then you can do one of two things: sign up to Playstation Plus or wait out.

The multiplayer will be open to all of Europe who have the Playstation Network and the following PAL territories: South Africa, The Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. This is a whole month of experiencing multiplayer gameplay since the game doesn’t hit shelves until November 2 (Europe) and November 3 (AU/NZ). Of course, being close to the final retain version, all of the progress you make will carry over to the retail version.

So, I said that you can wait. Why, though? Because the fellows over at the European Playstation Blog has revealed that there may be chances for non-PS+ subscribers to sneak into the multiplayer experience. Just watch out for details at the blog and their community forums.

Oh, Japan! – #7 Lovers in Japan

Oh, Japan! is a weekly feature in which I chronicle the wierd, wacky and just plain crazy goings on in Japan. Because we all know, Japan is prone to doing things that make us Westerners say “Oh, Japan!”.

We have had video games, prank shows, music videos, game shows, commercials and we even invaded Japan ourselves, now we return to our regular schedule. This time we will be detailing a long requested topic – anime.

Now we all know anime is not the usual saturday morning cartoons that we are subjected to in the western world. However, some anime just go above and beyond all logical sense, Dokuro-chan, is one of those series. Check out the short clip from Dokuro-chan below and enjoy the chaos. What more can I say besides, Oh, Japan!

Capsule Theater of Vision #3 – Leeroy Jenkins, Medieval Style

Welcome to the third installment of the Capsule Theater of Vision. I apologise for the hiatus, as I was on holiday/ unable to access the internet. However I am now back, and this marks the return of the featured column.

In this installment we watch what is a recreation of the famous Leeroy Jenkins raid video based within World of Warcraft, as adapted by the cast of the film Year One. I found it to be hilarious, and they cast have done an amazing job in their adaptation of the raid.

I hope everyone enjoys the video. Be sure to leave us a comment below, or on the shoutbox to the side.

New Name For Ni No Kuni in North America

At a Sony Computer Entertainment Asia conference, held during the Tokyo Game Show period, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino announced that Ni No Kuni: Queen of the Holy White Ash would travel across the seas and head to English territories in early 2012. This was met with a positive fanfare from fans of RPGs, Level-5 and Studio Ghibli. Now, it seems that the English release will be re-titled.

A new trademark has been filed by Level-5 in the United States of America: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Which. It links closely to the original name. To be honest, it looks like a re-wording of the original title. But there was no sight of the DS version, entitled The Jet Black Wizard. However, Level-5 has made no announcement on the DS version and I doubt that will leave Japan.

Expect more Ni No Kuni: Queen of the Holy White Ash news at Level-5 World, which will be conducted on the weekend on October 15 and 16.

MLB Bobblehead Battle – Now Available

Konami Digital Entertainment unleashes MLB Bobblhead Battle on Xbox Live Arcade. Involving all of your favorite MLB players, this game only requires gamers to bat instead of playing a full game of baseball. The gameplay envelopes several mini-games bundled into one with no playable defense.

After choosing a team, players must avoid obstacles by hitting baseballs accurately around the field to gain more scores. Only by gaining enough points will players be able to purchase new mini-games. Alternatively, players may create their own customizable fields to add scoring areas and power-up player abilities.

As a final installment, MLB Bobblehead Battle is available for only 800 MSP. Check out the game (HERE), and get your bobble on.

Jak and Daxter HD Collection Coming?

It seems that South African game retailer BT Games has been on a bit of a rumour alert. This time, however, it pertains to a certain Playstation 2 franchise yet to make an appearance this generation. I talk of Jak and Daxter and, if we are to believe BT Games, there is a another HD Collection heading our way.

If you go to this link, then you will see a basic page for a possible Jak and Daxter HD Collection slated for release on the Playstation 3, where all of the HD Collections end up. Earlier, there was a release date of January 2012, but this could have been a placeholder, which is common to use. Unfortunately, the listing itself has been removed, the link may be a cache version.

Sony and Naughty Dog have hinted a release of a Jak and Daxter HD Collection, but no official announcement has been made. But, with the series being as popular as it is, this should not be a missed opportunity for the Japanese giant to pass up.

Tetris Axis Now out on the Nintendo 3DS…

I really feel like Tetris Axis kind of snuck up on us as it was only announced a month ago, but time flies these days and Nintendo have finally delivered the next incarnation of the famous puzzler on the 3DS. If you haven’t heard of this new version of the classic yet, Tetris Axis brings that classic line-clearing puzzle formula back with augmented-reality modes, more than 20 unique modes of play and a vast amount of multi-player options.

The most intriguing feature of course is the new AR mode, which lets players have their blocks fall into place on a real world environment. Those who like to take to online will also be happy to know that Axis includes a spotpass function where users can download items for the new Fever mode over a wireless internet connection.

Yes, the game has changed quite a bit, but Tetris is still Tetris and fans of the series can now get their fix as of today.
