Dead by Daylight’s Third 2v8 Mode Returns with a Resident Evil Collaboration

New Killers, New Map, New Gameplay; 2v8 Returns with the Ultimate Chaotic Resident Evil Collaboration

MONTRÉAL, Feb. 5, 2025 – The popular 2v8 game mode, regularly featured in Dead by Daylight, is fused with the legendary popular survival horror game, and you get 2025’s first can’t-miss event in The Fog. The 2v8 mode, which will be newly available from Feb. 10 to Feb. 25,is a collaboration with Resident Evil, which could possibly pair two collaboration Killers together, introduces some special gameplay, and even adds the perfect Map to house all the action.

2v8 Mode x Resident Evil

Back for its third iteration since debuting in July 2024, Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 Mode continues to be enthusiastically embraced by players as a fresh and fun way to enjoy their favorite asymmetrical horror multiplayer.

This time around the chaos of 2v8 gets Resident Evil characters. First, The Nemesis and The Mastermind will join the 2v8 Killer roster alongside Dead by Daylight’s own original creation The Legion.

With a pair of dedicated Dead by Daylight Chapters already under its belt featuring two Killers, four Survivors, and multiple Legendary Outfits that add even morecharacters from the iconic series, Resident Evil is uniquely positioned to fill every character slot within a 2v8 match. And what better arena of this scale to unfold than the Raccoon City Police Department, which will also being joining 2v8 mode’s Map rotation.

As an added bonus to ensure the best experience for all players, every Resident Evil character will be free to play exclusively in 2v8 Mode for the duration of the event.

Gameplay Updates

Dead by Daylight will also be adding some new thematic gameplay elements to this edition of 2v8 to help welcome Resident Evil to the Mode.

The Nemesis and The Mastermind’s Powers in Dead by Daylight revolve around their ability to infect and weaken Survivors, The Nemesis with the T-Virus, The Mastermind using Uroboros. Should both The Nemesis and The Mastermind be chosen as Killers in a 2v8 Trial (matching), a single unified antidote becomes the default Item in Supply Crates, capable of curing either infection.

A staple of the Resident Evil franchise, Herbs have also been adapted into a unique gameplay mechanic, exclusive to this iteration 2v8.

At the start of a Trial (matching), Green and Yellow Herbs will randomly spawn around the Map, with Green Herbs healing 1 Survivor Health State and Yellow Herbs healing 1 Hook State. To even the playing field, Killers will of course be able to permanently destroy any Herb they come across, getting a brief movement speed increase in the process.

Finally, in a bid to reduce Killer queue time, this iteration of 2v8 will also add two Survivor Bots to every lobby.

Expanding Evil

In the world of Dead by Daylight few crossovers have generated more buzz among players than Resident Evil entering The Fog with two Chapters, a slew of classic characters, and an ever-expanding Collection of Outfits.

With nearly 30 years of games to draw from, the series’ heroes and villains have no shortage of iconic looks, and on Feb. 10, six more will become available. Kicking back to his original 1999 debut in the series, The Nemesis will receive the Nemesis Origin Outfit, while The Mastermind, Albert Wesker gets the New Dawn Outfit from his appearance in the recent Resident Evil 4 remake. On the Survivor side, Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Rebecca Chambers will each see a new classic look added to their wardrobes.

2v8 Game Mode featuring Resident Evil will be available in Dead by Daylight from Feb.10 to Feb. 25, 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds Prepares for Launch with New Monster Reveals and More

Monster Hunter Wilds is nearly here! Just weeks away from the action RPG’s February 28 release, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto presented the latest news for the highly anticipated title. The showcase debuted a fresh trailer unveiling a frosty new locale, the Iceshard Cliffs. Within this snowcapped and rocky region dwells a never-before-seen monster, Hirabami. Just like the previous beta, Open Beta Test 2 includes character creation with transferable data, a story mission, and free-roaming hunts with cross-platform multiplayer. However, please note the beta does not contain the recently announced performance and balance adjustments, as the development team is focused on implementing these improvements for the full game’s release. Mai Steals Hearts and Makes an Alluring Debut in Street Fighter 6 Today!

Players can bounce into battle with the iconic Mai right now across Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub!

London (February 5, 2025) History will be made on the streets as SNK’s fiery kunoichi Mai Shiranui joins the roster of Street Fighter™ 6 starting today across PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam! As the second-ever guest character in Street Fighter™ history, players can bring a new flavour to battles with Mai’s look and movelist inspired by a variety of SNK classics that are now intertwined with the Street Fighter 6 universe. Check out Mai across all three game modes, including fighting fierce battles in Fighting Ground, discovering Mai as the newest Master in World Tour, and using Mai’s iconic moves in avatar battles in Battle Hub!

Check out the fiery Mai Launch Trailer here on YouTube, and for the latest assets and information on Street Fighter 6, visit the official Street Fighter 6 website.

Players who own the Year 2 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass can jump into the fight with Mai right away, or she can be purchased separately with Fighter Coins. The dazzling heroine also comes with two Outfits. Outfit 1 is reminiscent of her classic style across the Fatal Fury series while Outfit 2 is based on her newest look in SNK’s upcoming Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Outfit 2 can be acquired via Fighter Coins or maxing out your bond with Mai in World Tour.

Additional updates coming alongside the Mai update include:

  • Professor Woshige V-Rival: The famous FGC competitor and now Street Fighter 6 Battle Director Woshige has arrived as a special guest V-Rival in the Battle Hub! Challenge the legendary Woshige himself with Luke, Cammy, and Akuma to receive a special emote and challenger screen illustration!
  • New Master League Ranks & Rewards: Master League, where the best of the best fight it out, is getting a trio of changes, including:
  • New ranks of High Master, Grand Master, and Ultimate Master
  • Master Phase Rewards where players can earn rewards by playing Ranked Matches with characters they’ve achieved Master rank with.
  • Master Rate at the beginning of each new Phase will now be determined per player based on the previous Phase’s Master Rate, meaning matchmaking with opponents of similar strength will be easier right from the start of the Phase.
  • Quality-of-Life Updates: Multiple quality-of-life updates will be introduced, including:
  • New replay features like the ability to watch replays from the most recent Match Result screen in Ranked or Casual matches, ability to pause and use the menu even during round calls or after a KO, and more.
  • New World Tour updates like checking all Masters’ information right away in the Master Section of the Status menu, plus hints for “when/where to find” and “how to enroll” with Masters regardless of if you have met them.
  • New Local Tournament Mode Settings like the ability to set to intro/outro screen to not be skippable, Automatic Random Stages, Pause Menu on Long Hold and more!
  • Match Restore added to Custom Rooms so that when a fight is interrupted mid-match, players can resume the fight by restarting at the start of the round when the disconnection occurred.
  • Mai Fighting Pass: Sting like a bee with the Say Hello to Mai! Fighting Pass in February and get avatar gear inspired by Mai’s outfit to use in World Tour and the Battle Hub. There’s also a snazzy Challenger Screen effect and the Flame Dragon God (Nippon Stage II) music to celebrate Mai’s arrival!

As seen in the previously released Gameplay Trailer on YouTube, Mai uses techniques that are uniquely inspired by her fighting game legacy to take down goons in the street. Players can expect a slew of moves that put her in control of the arena with flaming projectiles, divekicks, and more. Once you’ve wrapped up your time with her in World Tour, show off your new ninja skills in the Battle Hub or take Mai to the streets in Fighting Ground.

Year 2 of Street Fighter 6 is now more than halfway over and we’re already thrilled with all of the epic battles we’ve seen around the world with Terry and M. Bison. We can’t wait to see what’s next as Mai enters the arena. Stay tuned for more updates around Year 2 and the upcoming fan-favorite Elena as she gears up for battle
