Untitled-01-78

It has been a little over a month since we last heard news of Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland, and NIS America has decided the best way to keep the pink haired apprentice in our thoughts is to release a huge batch of screenshots in English.

All of the screenshots can be seen below, which show everything from battles, to creating items with alchemy, conversations among characters and even the title screen in case you are wondering how it will look when you pop the game into your PlayStation 3 when it is released in May. As you can see, Atelier Meruru will retain the charming aesthetic of the past Atelier titles which is an immediate plus.

New Tekken Tag Tournament 2 announced

Yes, you read that correct. The latest update to NamcoBandai’s tag team fighting game is called ‘New Tekken Tag Tournament 2’, as reported by Andriasang. This latest update is set to make its debut at the AOU 2012 arcade expo, which will be held next week.

No information about the game or its features are available at this stage, but apparently NamcoBandai have some big things planned. Also at the very same event, they will be showing off the latest version of their popular Gundam versus game, Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost.

It will be interesting to see what NamcoBandai has in store for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and it’s highly likely that the eventual console version of the game will be based on New Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

New Army Corps Of Hell Trailer Outlines Multiplayer

In this new Army Corps of Hell trailer, Square Enix shows off the multiplayer features of the Playstation Vita launch title. You don’t have to go through Hell alone as the game will support adhoc multiplayer, which is Vita to Vita. Co-operative modes will be available, where players will team up to defeat hordes of monsters and battle gigantic bosses together. However,it is not all about being on the same page. There will be times where the inner jerk can be released, as players can sacrifice their companion and steal their own goblins.

Army Corps of Hell will be released in Australia and New Zealand on February 23, the launch day of the Playstation Vita. The trailer can be seen below.

Skyrim’s Creation Kit now available

PC gamers rejoice! Bethesda’s long-awaited Creation Kit has been released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This of course means that you will now be able to create various modifications and share them with others much easier than ever before. Those who download the free Creation kit will also be able to enjoy a special surprise, a High-Resolution Texture Pack for Skyrim.

Skyrim’s Creation Kit will make use of the Steam Workshop which will act as a “central hub of player-created content and tools to publish, organize, and download that content into your games.” To kick things off, Valve and Bethesda have teamed up together to bring gamers the above Space Sphere mod, which brings the space-loving robot sphere from portal 2 into the game. The sphere will follow players around the world of Skyrim and can be downloaded here.

No UMD Passport Program For North America

In Japan, the UMD Passport Program allows Playstation Portable owners to grab digital versions of their PSP games on UMD for a special price. It looks like it will be a Japanese exclusive as a report on Kotaku has revealed that Sony Computer Entertainment America will not bring the program to North America. This leaves North American owners no way to play their physical PSP games on their Playstation Vita.

With that said, this announcement is only for North America. This means the program still has a possibility to be implemented in the European and PAL territories. However, with the announcement of the no-show in North America, the presence in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other PAL territories is still a long shot. The Playstation Vita is only backward compatible with digital copies of PSP games.

What do you think of the UMD Passport no-show in North America? Tell us what you think below.

Modern Warfare 3’s next DLC map is Overwatch

Those who pay their hard earned money to be a Call of Duty Elite premium member, who also uses an Xbox 360, can expect to see the next piece of free DLC for the title on February 21st. Those who play MW3 on other platforms will need to wait awhile longer as usual. What does this DLC include you ask? Well, one map that fans may recognize due to its similarity to a level from Modern Warfare 2.

The map itself is called Overwatch and it places players on the top of a New York City skyscraper in the middle of a construction site. If this sounds familiar at all then you probably have played the map Highrise before. Still, it is good to see Activision is following their release schedule properly.

Lightning falls as DLC today for Final Fantasy XIII-2

Or at least she will if you can manage to beat her in battle. Today the first piece of DLC for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been released onto the XBLM and PSN. In this DLC you will be able to enter into a Coliseum battle against Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar and if you manage to beat them they will be added into your party.

While this may just be a simple battle, Square Enix does state that fans can expect more DLC that will “enhance the experience” players found in FFXIII-2. They did not provide any time-line at the moment, instead stating that we can expect said DLC at a later date. You can check out some screenshots of the characters and the battle below.

Twisted Metal developer hit with layoffs, David Jaffe quits

Lately there has been a disturbing trend among some video game developers. That trend is that as soon as they finish working on a brand new title, or shortly after, the studio then fires a large amount of their employees. The latest developing company to do this is none other than Eat Sleep Play, the developers of the upcoming Twisted Metal game.

It seems that despite having their PlayStation 3 exclusive title releasing next week, the company has fired eight employees leaving them with a remaining staff of 26 and one of these employees was David Jaffe himself. David Jaffe appears to be working on something for the future however, as he has revealed plans to open up a game studio in San Diego. This is sad news indeed, as even the development of highly expected titles can cause workers to be let go once it is finished.

Mass Effect Relays Into iOS Devices

EA have announced that Mass Effect Infiltrator will be arriving on iOS devices and will tie in with the highly anticipated Mass Effect 3.

Playing through the app’s story will aid players in increasing their “Galactic Readiness” in Mass Effect 3; the higher a player’s readiness, the more likely they will achieve the best possible ending for the final chapter of the Mass Effect trilogy.

An EA PR pamphlet went into further detail:

Take the all-out galactic war in Mass Effect 3 on-the-go with Infiltrator, a fully-featured iOS third-person shooter showcasing stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series.

Inspired by the deep and immersive Mass Effect 3 universe, in Infiltrator players will help to free prisoners from a hostile Cerberus base and will receive rewards for collecting evidence of Cerberus’ crimes along the way. Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player’s Galactic Readiness rating directly through the Galaxy At War system in Mass Effect 3.

No release date was given, though it is safe to assume that Infiltrator will launch sometime within the vicinity of Mass Effect 3, which hits stores on March 6 (screenshot courtesy of IGN).
