PLAION and Atari to release new games for legendary developer’s range of consoles

4^th April 2025: PLAION, a leading global publisher and developer of video games, and Atari, one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers, are proud to announce today that Tiger-Heli — a newly developed version of the arcade classic — will be launching worldwide on 18th July for the first time ever on Atari consoles. Additionally, this exciting new release will be supported with official releases of modern homebrew ports, including Avalanche, Countermeasure II, Dark Chambers, and Super Circus Atari.

Tiger-Heli is a vertically scrolling shoot-’em-up where players control a helicopter through various stages filled with enemies, obstacles, and powerful bosses. The game delivers intense action, tight controls, and the challenge of navigating waves of enemy fire. It was selected for redevelopment thanks primarily to the legacy associated with its name — this was the title that had a huge impact on the shoot-’em-up genre and helped introduce players to ‘bullet hell’ long before ‘bullet time’ became synonymous with action shooters.

Unlike many famous arcade games, Tiger-Heli has yet to appear on any Atari console, a fact that will change come 18th July.

“Over the last couple of years, we’ve really stepped up our investment in retro gaming, focusing primarily on the release of retro consoles such as the Atari 2600+ and 7800+. We now want to release new games for these systems, and Tiger-Heli represents our first foray into internally developed retro software. This new cartridge is for those players who have supported us by buying the new Atari consoles – we want to continue to grow the library for them,” said PLAION’s Commercial Director of Retro, Ben Jones.

Key features of the new Tiger-Heli include:

• Developed from the ground up for the first time on Atari consoles
• Single-player helicopter combat
• Power-ups that increase firepower and grant special abilities
• Multiple stages set in diverse environments
• Enemies include ground vehicles, aircraft, and turrets
• Iconic Pokey-based score
• Compatible with the original Atari 7800, as well as the Atari 2600+ and 7800+

In addition to Tiger-Heli, PLAION and Atari will also release the following games on 18^th July 2025:

• Avalanche – A fast-paced puzzle-action game where players must catch falling avalanche stones to prevent disastrous impacts. For one or two players, this game will be available on the original Atari 2600 & 7800, as well as the 2600+ and 7800+.
• Countermeasure II – This single-player experience focuses on using countermeasures to defeat the enemy’s inbound arsenal. High-speed, intense combat will be available on the original Atari 7800, as well as the company’s new ‘plus’ range of consoles.
• Dark Chambers – Originally released in 1988 for the Atari 7800, this game was a standout title for the legendary console. The re-release offers gamers the chance to find the hidden treasure of the Dark Wizard of AaZor in this classic dungeon-crawling adventure.
• Super Circus Atari – After traversing the dungeons of Dark Chambers or repelling enemy fire in Countermeasure II, gamers might welcome the lighter and fun experience of Super Circus Atari. Players control the infamous see-saw, launching daredevil clowns on a mission to pop as many balloons as possible for that all-important high score. Available on Atari 7800, 7800+, and 2600+.

April 4, 2025 — Wizards of the Coast today launched Prerelease events for Tarkir: Dragonstorm, the latest set for the world-renowned trading card game, Magic: The Gathering (MTG). Return to the iconic plane of Tarkir, where wild dragons and fearsome clans clash in immense battles for power and survival. Tarkir: Dragonstorm will be released for MTG Arena on April 8 and available everywhere for tabletop on April 11.

A New Age of Tarkir Tarkir is embroiled in massive and terrifying dragonstorms, raging across the land and spawning wild dragons, the likes of which Tarkir has never seen. New and powerful Spirit Dragons have been summoned from the storms, forcing out the previous dragonlords and emboldening the five clans into a battle for supremacy of the land. Now, amidst the draconic maelstrom, Narset and Elspeth seek to end the dragonstorms spreading beyond the plane, whilst Sarkhan Vol stands in their way. Meanwhile, Jace seeks something deep in the Meditation Realm which may threaten the multiverse!

New Mechanics 

Emblaze your decks with a flight of new Dragon cards and bring destruction from above with two brand new dragon-themed abilities:

• Dragonstorms are enchantments with powerful enters abilities that you return to your hand for recasting when you play a Dragon.
• Omen is a new card subtype that lets you choose whether to cast a small spell that then shuffles into your library, or a big Dragon. Talk about an imposing presence!

The five clans of Tarkir are back, each with their own vibrant culture and immersive gameplay. Find your clan and join the fight with a playstyle that fits you, including a new keyword for each clan:

Developers plan for new content, continued optimization, and Steam Workshop support

HANGZHOU, China – 3 April 2025 – Sultan’s Game, the twisted narrative-driven card-based RPG that crowdfunded over $275,000 in its first week from developer Double Cross Studio and publisher 2P Games, has sold over 100,000 copies within 48 hours of launch. Sultan’s Game quickly soared to the top of the Steam bestseller list, thanks to its distinct setting and gameplay. At the time of writing, Sultan’s Game has received over 2,800 user reviews on Steam, with an 85% positive rating. To celebrate the 100,000-copy milestone, Double Cross Studio has released a special illustration and revealed its plans to expand and improve the experience over the coming two months.

New story content, an epilogue, and Steam Workshop support are in active development, and updates on the horizon include music enhancements, improvements to card management, and clearer indicators that can be changed in settings as well as warnings for mature content.

The developers are also sharing details about upcoming improvements based on extensive community feedback. Five core areas are:

Quick Execution

• For repetitive events like Managing the Estate and Court sessions, there will soon be a new feature called Quick Execution, which can be manually switched on and off. Players can enable this feature for daily events, skipping them during the reward period.

Card Organization

• This upcoming feature will empower players to assign specific card categories to particular hand slots, as well as setting hotkeys for automatic organization.

Music & Sound Effects

• The team will fine-tune disruptive sound effects and musical transitions, alongside further optimization based on community feedback.

Sensitive Content Warning

• Upcoming new game icons will help identify choices leading to sensitive storylines. As some players like this kind of unpredictable fun, this feature will be added into the Settings, so it can switch it on and off.

Game Save

• A manual Save/Load feature will also be added.

Over the next few months, the team also plans to optimize controller and Steam Deck support, introduce a gallery mode to review unlocked endings and cards, add crowdfunding supporter-designed characters and gears, expand support to the Steam Workshop, and continue rolling out new character episodes and epilogues.

Assemble weapons and choose your tactics

Players have to be quick and cunning when they start Hell’s Obby. At the outset, they have one weapon and two item slots available in their inventory. Between matches they can upgrade the number of slots in order to increase their winning chance. The choice of weapon and item is up to them, with more weapons and items available: cannon, guitargun, shotgun, crossbow, lucky shot revolver, meat-grinder gun, baseball bat, axe, petrol scythe, bear trap glove, chopper, grenade, flashbang, oil spill, cryo mine, shield generator, adrenaline shot, and rocket fuel. 

Weapons and items can give an edge, but are not the only important elements in the game. With lava on their heels, players have to make quick decisions about whether to slow opponents down, push them into traps, or take them out completely. The lava advances every minute, progressively narrowing the playable area and pushing players toward the finish line. Players must stay on the move while competing against each other, because touching the lava means instant elimination.

Connected UGC item distribution and free Robux

By winning in Hell’s Obby, players earn coins which they can spend on various character cosmetics like jackets, t-shirts, trousers, shoes, and special GX items. These GX items and skins are UGC items compatible with other Roblox games and game modes.
