Liberation and Piazza land Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for the PSN

Elite Members who own a PS3 have something to celebrate about, and that is that both Liberation and Piazza have kicked off for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® 3’s Content Season, and of course is exclusive for those who payed their subscription fee.

Here are some details of what to expect:

Liberation, a militarized Central Park in the heart of NYC, features a vast landscape ripe for long-range sniper and LMG kills. Mounted turrets on opposing ends of the map offer overwhelming firepower to anyone brave enough to man them. Elite Drop 2: Piazza, set in an idyllic Italian seaside village getaway gone rogue, offers blind corners and a complex network of branching pathways that pose danger at every turn. Visceral close-quarters combat dominates in Piazza, and attacks from above and below are an ever-constant threat.

Of course this is just the start of a nine month content season, which will let all Elite users download more than 20 pieces of DLC. The next Call of Duty Elite Content Drop for Premium Members on the PlayStation Network is scheduled to land on March 29 with the release of Overwatch, a multiplayer map that drops players into a construction site atop a New York City skyscraper.

Sega, Capcom and Namco tease upcoming 3DS game with chromosomes

It may seem like a strange way to advertise your upcoming game collaboration, but hey… at least its unique! Namco Bandai has updated their teaser page for the mysterious Capcom, Namco and Sega 3DS collaboration with what can only be seen as character chromosomes.

There are three of these x-shaped chromosomes in each petri dish and they are revealed when the viewer clicks on each company who is taking part in said collaboration. The characters are up to anyone to guess, though it isn’t going to be as easy as you may think as we don’t even know what this collaboration will entail…

Toshihiro Nagoshi Promoted to Chief Creative Officer within Sega

0

Sega have a new Chief Creative Officer, as Toshihiro Nagoshi, the mastermind behind Super Monkey Ball, Yakuza, and Binary Domain recently got promoted to the position. After forming a studio for Yakuza last year, this is great news for fans for Nagoshi’s work as we are sure to see more sequels and love given to AiAi and Kazuma.

This corporate ladder change-up has also effected quite a few others as well, with Naoya Tsurumi set to serve as COO, and Shigeru Yamashita and Yuki Sugino will move up to managing directors. Hopefully, Nagoshi’s insight will go in to the big mystery collaboration that Sega has planned with Capcom and Namco, but as of now a change in pay and power is all that should be effected for the time being.

Gravity Rush finally dropping on North American PS Vitas June 12

It was quite disappointing when we learned that the highly anticipated Gravity Rush would not be released alongside the PlayStation Vita. It was even more disappointing to learn that it had slipped completely from the release window of the Vita to a time undetermined. However Sony has finally decided to place a release date on Gravity Rush, and that release date is on June 12… quite a ways away.

It is great to see that this game finally has a cement release date, as it is easily a game that motivated a lot of gamers to probably pick up their PlayStation Vita’s at launch with its gorgeous graphics and interesting gameplay concepts. Shouldn’t be too hard to guess who’s going to be picking this one up when it is released?

Zone of Enders HD coming this Fall

The much anticipated Zone of Enders HD collection finally has a more narrowed down release window. Rather than a release sometime in 2012, it has now been narrowed down to autumn this year according to Konami in Europe. While this doesn’t mean a Fall release date for North America, it will likely be released alongside the European version.

This Zone of the Enders HD Collection bundles Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner Special Edition, plus Sunrise, the animation studio that handled the production of Code Geass and The Vision of Escaflowne anime are working on a new animated opening for said collection.

Binding of Isaac will not come to 3DS eShop due to Nintendo restrictions

While plenty of people love The Binding of Isaac on the PC it seems that the game will not be making its way to the Nintendo 3DS despite its popularity. Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen had been working on getting the game onto the 3DS for quite a while, however he received bad news from Nintendo today as he revealed on Twitter.

“Attention: After a long internal debate Nintendo has decided NOT to allow the Binding of Isaac on the 3ds. :(“ He went further to say that the reason for Nintendo’s decision was due to the game’s “questionable religious content.” Perhaps this has to do with the fact that the game involves playing a young child running away from his mother after a godlike voice tells the mother to sacrifice him. It’s a shame that Nintendo refuses to let Team Meat put this game on their console, I mean… that is what ESRB ratings are for…

UK retailer GAME will not stock Mass Effect 3 or future EA games

1

Well, this is some unexpected news. UK retailer GAME (a video game store obviously) has revealed that they won’t be selling Mass Effect 3 when the game is released next week. In fact, they are even cancelling all pre-orders for upcoming EA titles which include FIFA Street, Tiger Woods 13, and Sims 3 Showtime.

This news comes from an internal memo which was acquired by Eurogamer. In this memo Game channel Director Tom Devine wrote “”Last week we held an event for our publishers in the industry and explained the challenges we are facing in the short term – and we asked for their support. We will not stock products if the terms are not right for our business – a position we believe is critical to our long term health as a business – we have taken the very difficult decision to not stock EA’s March releases, including Mass Effect 3.”
