Over the past weekend news broke of the founding of a new anime distribution company within Australia and New Zealand. That new company formed at this past weekend’s Supanova Melbourne. The company is founded by former CEO of Siren Visual Eric Cherry.
This new anime distribution company is titled Hanabee. At this point in time the company holds the license for two non-anime series, The Guild and Red vs. Blue (which Cherry himself has brought over from Siren Visual). However Cherry has gone on to state that Hanabee will indeed be licensing and distributing anime titles, “Definitely! After being involved in licensing some really interesting stuff while at Siren including Dennou Coil, Kaiba and The Tatami Galaxy it became obvious that there’s a really rewarding challenge in trying to make the anime market down under a more interesting one. I like some of the innovative ways companies like NIS America and Aniplex of America are navigating through the USA market, and Hanabee aims to expand on that down here. ”
Since the companies first appearance at Supanova Melbourne this past weekend, Hanabee has opened both it’s official website and facebook page. They are both however currently scarce in terms of details on the companies future. Cherry did however confirm that title announcements are forthcoming, so definitely keep an eye on those two pages.
It is without a doubt a pleasure to see more companies forming with the intent of bringing anime down under and with the founding of Hanabee, the landscape of the Australian anime industry has been changed dramatically.

In addition to all of these releases, more games will be available for Xbox Live Games On-Demand. Here’s the quick list: KINECT Joy Ride, Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012, NHL 12, X-Blades, and Dead Rising 2 – Off the Record. Coincidentally, the on-demand release of X-Blades occurred just slightly after its non-linear sequel Blades of Time hit the shelves in March. Gaijin Entertainment is certainly propelling the hype of these titles, and to enhance their position please check out our Blades of Time Review.
The authorities have caught up with me now, so I must bid you all adieu (the fiancee caught me on the computer again!) Thank you once again for reading, and always remember “Play Hard or Don’t Play at All!”
Halo 4’s announcement at E3 last year was no surprise. Also unsurprising is the release date of November 6, 2012, alongside the yearly iterations of the Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed franchises. This year’s crazy pre-Christmas period will be especially crazy, methinks.
Anyway, Rooster Teeth and Microsoft today announced the release date of the so-called-fourth-but-really-the-seventh entry into the Halo series via a new Red vs Blue short. Even if you don’t care about Halo, the video itself is entertaining enough to warrant a watch. If only all announcements could be this much fun.
Just remember: “Forget about remembering, and focus on not forgetting.”
The Worms Facebook page has been a hive of activity lately. All this week, new images of the upcoming game, Worms: Revolution, have been posted, and we gotta say, it’s looking damn pretty.
We already know the new game will feature classic 2D Worms gameplay with 3D-rendered graphics and improved physics, and these images show off how that 3D works. So far, we’ve had looks at the Garden and Beach settings, with images from the Farm and Sewer themes coming later this week.
The game looks nice, but unless there are some gameplay changes, calling it a “Revolution” feels like a bit of a stretch. Perhaps Worms: Tarted Up is a more appropriate title. Either way, I’m still keen.

If you were upset that you could only use one weapon in Ninja Gaiden 3, then perhaps you may want to pick up the latest DLC that was released for the game today, entirely free. Amongst a slew of other paid-DLC releases, a Ninja Pack 1 Lite DLC was released that costs absolutely nothing and adds the Eclipse Scythe as a weapon in story mode. Also added in this package is a free multiplayer stage.
The free DLC will be automatically downloaded for the PlayStation 3 version of the game and the Xbox 360 version of the DLC can be downloaded here. You can see what the scythe will look like in action, as well as some paid-DLC, in the trailer below.
You remember the above image that was released yesterday? Everyone may have wanted it to be some information about Skyrim DLC, but it turns out that it is actually the first trailer for Bethesda’s Dishonored. We’ve seen plenty of screenshots but this fancy CG trailer is the first time we’ve ever seen anything in motion.
The video sets Dishonored’s plot in a dystopian steampunk society where the main character has been betrayed and thrown in jail for a murder he did not commit. A strange man appears and gives him supernatural powers and a chance to seek his revenge. Currently Dishonored is set to be released sometime in 2012 though when it is released it will be available for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Video game franchises can sometimes make for the best reading material when they are translated into book form. This experience is heightened further when it is an original novel that expands upon the game’s universe. This is the case with an upcoming Diablo 3 novel which is set to be released the same day as the game itself on May 15th.
The book itself is called Diablo 3: The Order and it is written by Nate Kenyon. The story will follow Deckard Cain on his search for other members of the Horadrim as well as an eight year old girl who has become cursed. The book is currently up for pre-order on Amazon, and please order the actual physical form because nothing beats the feel of a good book in your hands.
