Reversible box arts are a wonderful thing. This is especially true for a fighting game where someone’s favorite character may not have made it on the main box-art, but is still shown on the flip side. Today Namco Bandai revealed that they will be giving Tekken Tag Tournament 2 the reversible box art treatment when it is released in North America.
The basic United States box art will simply feature Heihachi and Jin, while the the reverse side features Anna and Nina Williams, allowing gamers to pick whether or not they want to see two guys or two girls on the front of their game’s case.
Interstingly enough, Namco Bandai has also revealed that there will be a separate box art used for the Latin America version of the game, with the main image featuring King and Eddy Gordo while the flip side features Christie Monteiro and the new fighter Jaycee. Each box art can be seen below and those interested in picking up the title will be able to do so once the game is released on the PS3 and 360 on September 11th and later in the year on the Wii U.
Today Sega revealed that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be getting a “Bonus Edition/Limited Edition” Before you bust out your wallet and see how much more you’ll have to pay for this bonus edition of the game, don’t worry. The bonus edition will be given out to anyone who pre-orders the game at launch or likely anyone who buys the first printing of the game.
Either way, the bonus edition includes the OutRun racing level, a playable Metal Sonic character and vehicle as well as a “Emoticon Sticker Pack.” It is also worth noting that Sega has revealed Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed’s release date as well, with the 360, PS3 and Vita versions of the game to be released on November 15th, though the release date of the 3DS and PC versions have still not been announced.
Army of Two is a series that most people have probably forgotten by now and even if they do still remember the two games released under that name so far, they probably never ranked very high amongst the competition. Either way, it seems that EA is going to be making yet another Army of Two game for the 360 and PS3.
This time around it is going to be called Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel and it is going to be developed by Visceral Games with the use of the Frostbite 2 engine. Perhaps EA thought combining one of their best development teams with their best game engine would equal a great game. Either way, EA is stating that this title will “reset the series” and will have a “more intense, mature, and grittier tone.” The two soldiers will be fighting in a drug war in Mexico and will be able to make use of “the ability to unleash the power of ultimate destruction.”
Currently the title is set to be released sometime in March 2013 and hopefully we’ll hear some more news about the title soon, as it sounds awfully generic at the moment despite the heavy backing EA has thrown behind it.
Capcom released a new video today showing off probably one of the prettiest moments in Okami, Amaterasu’s rebirth from a stone statue at the beginning of the game. The video can check it out below in its full HD glory, showing just how impressive the already beautiful game looks with some modern day improvements.
Although the video itself is in Japanese, an English version is planned for release in North America sometime in the fall. When it is released it will be as a digital download only on the PlayStation Network and will feature updated graphics, Move compatibility and Trophy support for a price tag of only $19.99.
Today Ubisoft revealed a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed III and this time around it is focusing on the game’s new gameplay engine, AnvilNext. In the video below we will be shown some of the spectacular feats that this engine can perform to make Assassin’s Creed III unlike any of the other titles so far.
in fact, the company is stating that with the “revolutionary physics, animation and weather systems” the engine provides, players will experience an “unprecedented realism and a revamped combat system that delivers the most intense and vivid Assassin’s Creed experience to date.” Sounds like quite a promise… though we’ll see for ourselves once the title is released on October 30th.
While taking down members of the Triad with brutal hand to hand combat and taking part in shoot outs are a few things you will be doing in SLeeping Dogs, it is always good to remember that the main character, Wei Shen is still a cop at heart and as such, he also can take part in a number of police investigations as well.
Today Square Enix released a new gameplay walkthrough with Sleeping Dogs’ producer Dan Sochan providing the commentary. In this walkthrough video players will follow Wei as he begins investigating a serial killer who has been targeting members of the Triad. Catch the video below and be sure you’re comfortable, as it is nearly twelve minutes long.

With the heavyweight comedy actors Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, and Robert DeNiro, The Big Wedding looks like it will be the big comedy movie. The plot (a divorced couple pretends to be married for the sake of their adopted son’s birth mother so that the wedding goes smoothly) sounds like your typical rom-com, but the trailer looks like there will certainly be some more depth and – gasp – the people pretending to be married may not actually end up getting married in the end.
It looks to be aiming for that brutally honest, family comedy type of humour, and since the talented and well-known actors are backed up by the equally funny Katherine Heigl, Topher Grace and Amanda Seyfried then they may well accomplish this.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments section! Are you interested in seeing it or does it just strike you as the same as every other comedy blockbuster that’s been filled with big name actors?
The Big Wedding will be released in theatres on October 26, 2012.
Button Brigade Developer: Axis Sivitz Publisher: Axis Sivitz Platforms: iPhone (reviewed), iTouch and iPad Release Date: July 31, 2012 Price: $0.99 – Available Here
Overview
Button Brigade is a simple looking iOS game with a basic idea, to make it through each level without dying. There are several ‘buttons’, or special items that you can use to make it through each level, and this is part of what sets the game apart. However, does this game establish itself enough from the pack? Or is it yet another iOS arcade leveler?
Gameplay
You control a ‘worm’, which is really a line of white dots, as it tries to make its way around a factory. The factory happens to be a ‘button’ factory, with each button having certain special skills like keys, bombs, blasters, and so on. You can use these to your advantage in situations, and usually if there is a button around it’s there for a purpose.
You can also move buttons around yourself, so if there are buttons lying around chances are they’re going to come in handy and it’d be a good idea to attach yourself to them just in case. Especially since there are enemy worms going around, smaller blue ones that will cause your health to drop if you come in contact with them.
The buttons that you can move include the ones that would usually do you harm, which you can set off (if they’re bombs), or use as your own weapon without hurting yourself. This works out fantastically well, and in some instances you can just roam around killing your enemies casually without too much trouble. That tends to simplify a level if it’s an option, but it won’t be one that you run into too much. Most times your item will be disposable, or will require some input from you to hurt those around you (i.e. aiming your attack).
You don’t have a health bar, but you can take a hit without dying and you will regenerate health in a fairly short period of time, so if you accidentally set a bomb off near you then you can survive the blast. It’s handy for those small incidental damage that you’ll get, but if you are killed then you’re sent back to the beginning of the stage (which can be a pain if you’ve passed some tricky points so far).
While the gameplay is very simple and quite easy to pick up, that doesn’t discount the fun and challenge that you can get from this game. It does involve some tactics and flexing that brain of yours to get through levels, which is always nice to see in a game.
The learning curve is pretty gradual, which is nice. You’ll still be picking up knowledge and new items that you can use a fair few stages into the game, and it seems to be timed quite well. Even though in the earlier stages you don’t have all the information there is still enough of an interesting layout to allow you not to get bored.
There are a few issues with the responsiveness of the app, and some times you will find that the worm won’t really register what you want to do properly and in moments of high tension this might become a source of some frustration.
Visuals
Visually the game is nothing special or interesting. It gets by on the bare minimum, which may be a mark against it in terms of technical quality, but to be honest it doesn’t need flashy graphics. They could have added a bit more to the game in terms of making it look a bit cooler and giving off a better first impression. Once you get invested enough in the game it doesn’t matter too much though.
Audio
Like the graphics, the soundtrack is kind of like a bare minimum of an arcade game. It isn’t too annoying or in your face, and it can be tolerated pretty well so you probably won’t be hurrying to switch it off, but again it doesn’t do much to improve the game. It’s sort of just a take it or leave it scenario.
Overall
Button Brigade is the sort of app that doesn’t jump out at you. In the description or in screen shots it doesn’t appeal immediately or suddenly grab you and demand you play it. However, that doesn’t mean you should write it off at all. It is a challenging and interesting game that deserves some attention and play time, which is more than can be said of some games that have good first impressions. It certainly deserves a play through, because with its learning curve it keeps itself fresh and interesting for quite a while (certainly far longer than other games).
So forgive the sparse graphics and the fact that it sounds just like any other arcade game, except with a bit of an odder premise and gameplay style, it is an interesting game that should keep you entertained for a while.
