After Amazon ruined the surprise with a pre-announcement listing for the game, we haven’t heard a lot regarding Back to the Multiverse. But several screenshots were released during Gamescom this week, finally giving us a look at the latest Family Guy adventure.
The game is based on the similarly-named episode, Road to the Multiverse, in which Stewie and Brian get lost between parallel universes. It will extend the storyline of that episode, and turn it into a third-person shooter/platformer. It’s beginning to sound a lot like the 2006 Family Guy game, which was… all right, I guess.
The screenshots below all but confirm the similarities. It’s pretty old hat to turn a popular IP into a third-person platformer/shooter game, but hey, it might be good for a laugh. We’ll hold our judgement for after we get to play it.
Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is slated for release on September 25th in the US, and probably around the same time for Europe and Australia.
So, in an effort to compete with the male-buddy films that involve bloke-y humour there seem to be more female films being released that are along the same vein. There was Bridesmaids, released last year, that proved that female actors can also do humour in the same way – only with a female twist – and get away with being hilarious.
In a similar move, here comes Bachelorette (and hey, it even sounds the same). Starring Rebel Wilson (who was also in Bridesmaids, though not in such a main role) as the girl who is getting married, much to the shock and chagrin of Kirsten Dunst’s very much single character. To add to the embarrassment she, along with her high school friends Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan (or Janis from Mean Girls), have been asked to be bridesmaids. Throw in an egotistical James Marsden and Parks and Recreation’s Adam Scott and you’ve got the making of a movie that will probably hit all the typical stereotypes while having a few funny moments due to the great comedy cast.
Bridesmaids was genuinely funny because they did break female wedding movie conventions, so hopefully Bachelorette will do the same. Hopefully Lizzy Caplan has picked another winner to star in.
Watch the trailer below! What do you guys reckon, yay or nay for female comedy?
Bachelorette comes out on September 7, 2012 in the US.
Oh Paranormal Activity, how long will your franchise go on for before you’re put down? The fourth Paranormal Activity trailer has been released and it seems that we’re going to see what happened to Hunter and Katie after the second film when they disappeared into the night.
Paranormal Activity 4 has the main character of a teenage girl who looks like she just stepped off a billboard ad, and has had some really creepy neighbours move in next door. Including a little boy who likes standing outside her house late at night. Maybe he just doesn’t know how to say that he lost his ball in their yard?
The fact that the main character is a hysterical teenager means that the movie will lose some legitimacy (whatever little legitimacy a Paranormal Activity movie has, anyway), and there will probably be some screaming and whatnot. The scariest parts of the previous movies were when the adults started freaking out, because you know when the logical adults are freaking out that something serious is going down. But hey, I guess it will be interesting to see where they go with this sequel and what happened to Katie and Hunter post-demon-run.
Watch the trailer below. What do you guys think? Are you fans of the franchise? Does this make you not want to see it, or want to?
Paranormal Activity 4 will be released on October 19, 2012.
The Wachowskis are back, and this time they’ve added the director of Run Lola Run, Tom Tykwer, to their team for an extremely long, extremely confusing trailer. Cloud Atlas is based on a novel and according to the group of directors is meant to be a tale that spans times and genres. With a stellar cast at their disposal featuring such huge names as Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Jim Broadbent and so on (for the full cast list, go HERE), they might just pull it off. If the story isn’t that convoluted and confusing.
The five and a half minute trailer certainly has the confusing element down pat. While it’s got scale and the feel of epicness, it also doesn’t have many answers or hints towards the actual plot. A lot of things seem to have been put in to show off just how massive the movie is, while a meaningful sounding voice over is given by some of the big ticket names involved.
Still, this definitely looks super intriguing and is something that I’d definitely be interested in seeing in the cinemas. I think this is the sort of movie that deserves a giant screen viewing.
Watch the trailer below. What do you guys think of the trailer for Cloud Atlas?
Cloud Atlas is being released in the US on October 26, 2012, but hopefully it does well enough to bring it to other countries as well.
Today some brand new screenshots have come out for Konami’s upcoming Silent Hill title, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, also known as the game to most likely cause unreasonable amounts of rage from blind Silent Hill fans.
Perhaps these newest screenshots will help cool some of your anger you crazy Silent Hill fan you, as this PlayStation Vita exclusive seems to be looking better every time something new is shown for it, even though it is a spin-off title designed more like a dungeon crawler title than your standard Silent Hill experience. Those who haven’t burnt up with fury yet can look forward to picking up the title sometime in October.
Today BioWare and EA revealed that the first piece of actual single-player DLC, that wasn’t released as day-one DLC, now has a release date. Gamers can expect to see the Leviathan DLC available for puchase on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on August 28th. It is worth noting however that if you are in Europe and own a PS3, then you will have an extra day to wait.
The Leviathan DLC will give players the task of discovering “the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever.” Currently it is unknown what the price of the DLC will be, though given their past history with DLC it will likely run 800 MSP or $10.
A teaser image has been released by the Disney Interactive Media Group that features the four main Avengers and the mention of mobile. The image, seen above, doesn’t give too much information outside of featuring Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man, but the wording and size of Hulk in juxtaposition with the rest of the team may indicate it could be more Hulk-centric than anything else.
Is it a game? An app? Not much is mentioned other than the fact that it is massive, so whatever it is, it should hopefully provide a lot of content for huge Marvel fans. We’ll have to keep our eyes open for when more information is released because until then, it’s really anybody’s guess because right now all we know it that something Marvel is coming to mobile.
While we may have been able to catch a glimpse of one of these characters during the Dead or Alive 5 opening declaration video, today Tecmo Koei made it official that Eliot as well as Brad Wong would be joining the roster of their upcoming action-packed fighting game.
To commemorate this announcement the company released a slew of new screenshots which can be seen below featuring Brad and Eliot fighting against one another on a brand new stage which looks like it begins inside of a small Chinese house and exits out into a small cul-de-sac as well as taking on other members of the cast battling it out in alternate costumes.
A teaser trailer for Farming Simulator 2013 hit Gamescom and it’s a good place for it to release seeing as the Farming Simulator series has found lots of success in Germany, Gamescom’s home country. We have gotten a lot of new details about Crysis 3 from Gamescom, many of them being about the multiplayer.
It was revealed yesterday that Crysis 3 would be getting a new multiplayer mode called Hunter Mode which puts two players in the Nano-suits and turns them into hunters and then matches them up against six to eighteen CELL Operatives that have crashed in the middle of the now literal jungle that is New York. The two Hunter players have to stalk and kill the others with the new Compound Bow weapon, hiding in the jungle as the CELL players try to stick together and look over their shoulders for their invisible pursuers. Every time a CELL player falls, they also become a Hunter, until they’ve all been tracked down. If even one CELL player survives, that team wins.
They have also amped up the play style by adding the ability for players to take control of the environment by taking doors off of cars and using them as riot shields or picking up metal posts out of the ground to use as a club. This will allow for people to get creative with how they play to survive.
The modes that will be returning from Crysis 2 include straightforward deathmatches/team deathmatches and Crysis’ own take on Capture the Flag, called Crash Site.In Crash Site, Ceph pods land at random points on the map, and your team has to claim them for as long as possible before they explode and the next one arrives somewhere else. It’s a very fast-paced, violent mode that shows the nanosuit off at its full capabilities.Crash Site is one of the modes that has been revamped though, they have now granted you the ability to actually drive the Ceph mechs that are know as Pringers and unleash bullets onto your opposing team.
The Nano-suits have been re-designed also. They now separate energy bars for sprinting, camouflage, armour boosting and other nanosuit superpowers, these will grant you the abilities to sprint across the map or power jump from ledge to ledge without having to worry about entering battle with no energy left when you enter battle.
Crysis 3 will ship with a total of twelve maps and eight game modes when it launches in February 2013. The game will support sixteen players in the PC version of the game and only twelve on consoles. Crytek has also insured that they will keep the game servers in peek conditions to maintain a good stable connections for the players of the game.
