Vita only supports eight PSOne Classics with Firmware 1.8

You know how Sony promised that when Firmware 1.8 hit the PlayStation Vita the handheld would support over one hundred PSOne Classics? Well it seems they were off by about two digits because in disappointing fashion that only Sony can deliver, they have only made nine PSOne games purchasable or downloadable on the Vita with the update.

If you happen to live in Europe you’ll actually get quite a lot of them, while those with a PS3 can actually transfer over a number of other PSOne Classics in an effort to absolutely confuse any members of their user base because apparently being user friendly is a thing of the past. The list of various games “supported” can be seen below:

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead Episode 3 coming “very soon” [Update]

It seems that the wait for the next episode in Telltale’s popular The Walking Dead series is almost at its end, as the Telltale’s Job Stauffer announced on Facebook that The Walking Dead Episode 3: Long Road Ahead is meant to be released “very soon.”

To go along with this announcement the company also released a brand new video which teases a bunch of drama that gamers will be experiencing in Episode 3, such as the fact that the group must leave Macon and apparently there is even a traitor amongst them. Also look! Even Clementine gets a gun this time around. Check out the trailer and new screenshots below and keep an eye peeled for the continuation of this, so far amazing, story.

Update: Turns out that the “very soon” means today and tomorrow. Gamers who want to pick the title up on the PlayStation 3 can pick up the game on August 28th for $4.99 while Xbox 360 gamers will be able to do so on August 29th, a day later, for 400 MSP. Talk about soon eh?

Zombies invade Nuketown in Black Ops 2

It seems that the zombie infection has gotten so bad that it has even reached the idyllic little town from Black Ops. It was revealed today over the official Call of Duty Twitter account that Nuketown has now been overrun with zombies. In their reveal they simply stated “There goes the neighborhood.”

it is currently unknown whether or not this zombie map will only be available for those who are going to get the Nuketown 2025 map via pre-order or DLC, or if the small undead-filled map will be available as a separate piece of DLC. We have reached out to Activision and will update you as we learn more.

Borderlands arrives on PlayStation Plus next week

It has been awhile since gamers in North America received a full retail title as part of the PlayStation Plus “Instant Game Collection” promotion. Europe received Red Dead Redemption last month as well as another title before that, while North America was simply given PSN titles.

While these games were still great in their own right, North Americans will be able to add Borderlands to their digital game collection next week on September 4th, allowing you to play the title as long as you are a PlayStation Plus member. This is a great little promo to help promote Borderlands 2 which comes out roughly two weeks after the PS Plus debut of Borderlands.

Besides the free game, PlayStation Plus members can also pick up Greed Corp for $2.50 or Daytona USA for only $3 while everyone else has to pay $5.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus producer quits Sony

The man who led production of most PlayStation fans’ favorite games, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, revealed today that he is no longer working for Sony. Kenji Kaido revealed his departure on Twitter, saying: “This August, I left Sony Computer Entertainment.”

Currently it is unknown where Kaido will go from here, though he also stated that he is “also excited about whatever I’m going to be doing next,” which means that he probably already has an idea about his next position. Currently it is unknown if Kaido was working on Team Ico’s latest game, the oft rumored to be canceled The Last Guardian, so eager fans of the game should still be hopeful.

Square Enix reveals their PAX Prime line-up

With PAX Prime happening this weekend, Square Enix has revealed what they will be bringing to the show, which happens to be pretty much all of their big titles coming out soon and one that is already out. Those who are attending PAX Prime will be able to get some hands on experience with Hitman: Absolution, Tomb Raider and the already released Sleeping Dogs.

Attendees will also be able to witness the Final Fantasy anniversary celebration which starts up on Friday, August 31 at 1PM in the ACT Theater at 700 Union Street where fans will be able to experience their favorite Final Fantasy games through “dozens” of playable units, including older consoles.

Those who attend the event will have a chance to win various prizes and at 5PM they will hold a special presentation of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn while those still attending at 7:30PM will be able to witness a video message from Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Motomu Toriyama, and art director Isamu Kamikokuryo regarding Lightning’s story.

Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires Delayed in Japan

Today Tecmo Koei revealed that their original release date for Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires in September is going to be changed to November 8th. The company stated that the reason for the delay was due to some polishing efforts to create a better quality title.

It is currently unknown whether this delay will affect the game’s western release window of February 2013. It is worth noting that Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and is going to be released digitally in North America, though what this means for the above cat-warrior Nobunyaga Oda, who is a pre-order bonus in Japan, is unknown.

Rune Factory 4 is the best selling Rune Factory title to date

Earlier today it was revealed by producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto on the series’ blog that Rune Factory 4 is the best selling game in the series so far. In fact, the first week alone saw 85,955 copies sold which is twice the opening sales amount of Rune Factory 1 and 3.

In fact, as of August 19th, around a month after the title’s release in Japan, the game had sold 135,376 copies which is well beyond the companies’ lifetime sales of Rune Factory 2 which was originally their best selling game ever. This makes Hashimoto’s claims of a Rune Factory 5 all the more feasible. Now if only we heard some news about Rune Factory 4 making the trip overseas to the West, maybe we’ll see some record breaking numbers for the franchise here as well.
