If Checkers, American football and Ted Lasso had a baby

London, 19 August 2026 – It’s checkers, but not as you know it! SFTP – Super Football Tactics Pro launches on Steam today from 17:00 BST / 09:00 PT / 12:00 ET!

Here is how the game plan breaks down.

FIRST QUARTER: standard checkers rules apply

Diagonal moves. Forced jumps (tackles in this game). Kings. If you learned checkers on a kitchen table at seven years old, you already know how to play half of this.

SECOND QUARTER: except it is an American football league

You’re either playing attack or defense. If the former, you’re trying to get the ball to the other end of the board, but you only get one forward pass per game. If your ball carrier gets tackled, it’s game over!

If you’re defending, you need to capture the ball carrier. Or just take out the entire team…your choice.

THIRD QUARTER: and some teams brought special powers

Match-flipping abilities that turn a losing board into a winning one in a single turn. Charge through story mode to unlock new special abilities as you climb your way up the leagues.

FOURTH QUARTER: play through a Story that reads like Ted Lasso flipped on its head, jump into quick games in Arcade mode, or pits your skills against other humans in Online multiplayer!

  • Story mode: three leagues, the division’s most unhinged coaches, and a final boss match at the end of it.
  • Arcade mode: quick matches against three AI difficulty levels, or a friend on the same PC
  • Online multiplayer: public lobbies for the tacticians of the world, private ones for the people who already owe you a rematch.

You don’t need to know anything about American Football. You don’t really need to know how to play checkers…SFTP has a very robust tutorial! But if you like the idea of a quirky turn-based strategy game that’s easy to learn and challenging to master, then definitely give SFTP a look!

SFTP – Super Football Tactics Pro will be available on Steam for $7.99 / £6.99 / €7.99 with a 20% launch discount for two weeks!

Skillprint Launches the Signal Benchmark, the First AI Benchmark Grounded in Real Human Performance

Built on six years of gameplay and cognitive-science research involving more than 500,000 players, Signal evaluates how well AI models move real players toward a target mental state, and the scarce human-outcome signal behind it.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – August 19, 2026 – Skillprint today launched the beta for Skillprint Signal Benchmark, the first public benchmark that scores how effectively AI models can enhance real human performance. Existing benchmarks measure what a model knows, how accurately it answers questions or how well it performs a fixed task. Signal measures something no one else does: how well a model adapts a live game, in real time, to move a real person toward a target mental state, such as greater focus, relaxation or improvement in a cognitive skill.

Signal places AI models inside live gameplay experiences with real participants. As someone plays, the model can adjust parameters of the game in real time toward a defined human outcome, such as greater focus or relaxation. Signal then measures the resulting change in the player’s state and ranks models based on how effectively they achieve that outcome.

Signal is built on six years of Skillprint research spanning more than 500,000 players and a library of more than 1,000 games, quizzes and simulations designed to understand relationships between gameplay, cognition, mood and player state.

The launch marks a new phase for Skillprint, which has spent six years building a gameplay-powered intelligence platform around a central belief: AI should augment human capability, not replace it.

“Most AI benchmarks tell you how smart a model is on its own. Based on our years of decoding human cognition at scale, we’ve built the one that tells you whether it can actually help a human being and enhance their performance and intelligence. As AI becomes part of everyday life, we think that is one of the measures that will matter most,” said Chethan Ramachandran, Co-founder and CEO of Skillprint.

Measuring AI Through Live Human Interaction
Signal runs on genuine gameplay. During each session, an AI model receives information about the game and player behavior and adjusts game parameters in real time. Signal measures whether those interventions move the player toward a defined target state.

At launch, Signal runs on two instrumented games, Hextris and Box Tower, across target states including Relax and Focus. Skillprint is evaluating a growing roster of frontier and open-weight models, with results published to a public leaderboard as sufficient session data becomes available.

No single model currently performs best across every measured human outcome.
Rather than testing whether a model can produce a predetermined correct answer, Signal evaluates how models use visual input, memory and real-time gameplay information to respond as a person’s behavior changes. Over time, Skillprint plans to expand Signal beyond states such as Focus and Relaxation to evaluate whether AI systems can help people strengthen specific cognitive skills.

Because each evaluation is generated through a live human interaction rather than a fixed test set, Signal is designed to be more resistant to contamination, memorization and benchmark saturation. Every result reflects a new gameplay session and the interaction between a model, a game and a real person.

From Game Performance to Human Performance
Skillprint began developing its cognitive-science and gameplay foundation in 2020. Since then, the company has built a library of more than 1,000 games, quizzes and simulations, mapped more than 150 game mechanics to human behavior, and developed a framework spanning cognitive skills, moods and personality traits.

More than 500,000 people have played experiences used to train and refine Skillprint’s models. Each session helps the platform better understand how gameplay relates to the way people reason, adapt, learn and respond to changing conditions.

Signal builds on that foundation by making the human outcome itself part of AI evaluation. It’s built on live, consented, pseudonymous gameplay sessions. It is the closest available read of how a model changes real human behavior in the moment, and it cannot be scraped. Skillprint does not collect personally identifiable information. The platform analyzes gameplay behavior and produces structured signals related to cognitive performance and player state.

“We have spent years studying what gameplay can tell us about cognition and player state,” said George Kachergis, Cognitive Scientist at Skillprint. “Signal reverses that question. Instead of only asking what a person’s gameplay tells us about the person, we can ask what happens to that person when an AI system begins adapting the experience around them.”

Availability
Skillprint Signal Benchmark is available in beta today, with early results published as the leaderboard fills. AI teams and researchers that want early access to results and to the underlying human-outcome data can join the waitlist at https://skillprint.co/benchmark#waitlist.

Skillprint will continue to drive human-AI collaboration, helping AI Labs train models with unique data to work more effectively alongside humans to achieve their goals.

About Skillprint
Skillprint is a human-performance intelligence company using gameplay to understand and enhance how people think, feel and perform. Since 2020, Skillprint has combined cognitive science, game mechanics and AI to translate real gameplay into measurable human-performance signals. Skillprint’s mission is to help build a future where AI augments human capability. Learn more at skillprint.co.

Brisbane, Australia [19th of August 2026] – Prideful Sloth, the creators of the chart-topping chaotic city builder Go-Go Town!, have just announced that their game sold over 100,000 copies in one month since its July 16th release. The game will also add six new languages – Polish, Turkish, Russian, Italian, Dutch, and Indonesian.

Cheryl Vance, the game’s Creative Director, said, “Seeing our game succeed at a time when the industry is going through such a challenging period makes us feel incredibly grateful. We’re very aware of how fortunate we are to be in this position. With the support of our amazing Early Access community, who spent two years with us making Go-Go Town! the game that it is, we were able to successfully launch V1.0 on PC and on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and welcome in a new cohort of Mayors who are experiencing what we built with our community, for the first time.”

Meant Well Games announces Voice Heist, a comedy action game you play by giving orders out loud, developed on Tryll Engine’s on-device AI stack

Your robot partner does something about every command, and some of the time it’s the thing you actually asked for. Case the joint, pick your way in, and start talking.

Dublin, Ireland, August 19, 2026Meant Well Games today announced Voice Heist, a first-person comedy game in which the player is the brain of the operation and an AI-driven robot partner is the hands. The fun lives in the gap between what you meant and what he heard. Every action in the game happens only through a command to the partner. On-device AI makes the robot a living NPC. He comments on your orders and on what happens around him, and he answers questions. The language model lets him react like a character rather than a scripted sidekick reading a list. The AI stack comes from Tryll Engine, the studio’s technology partner.

Every command and object pair has an authored correct outcome and authored comically wrong ones, all written and animated by real people. The LLM chooses between those outcomes, it doesn’t invent behaviour. Text input is planned throughout as well, so the game stays playable without a microphone.

Every loud mistake pushes the alarm meter up, and the higher the alarm climbs, the more nervous the robot gets. So the pressure isn’t only the countdown. It’s the gradual loss of control over your own tool. Each level has several ways through. Straight in through the window, or the back door with lockpicks? Kill the cameras, hack the server, or just grab everything that isn’t nailed down? There are no dead ends, because a botched approach costs you a route, never the run. Reach the getaway point with a full bag before the clock runs out, or leave with nothing and a much better story.

“We keep the whole stack on the player’s machine: the ears, the brain and the mouth. No cloud means no network latency I don’t control, no bill for every line the robot says, and nothing about the player’s voice leaving their computer. The model is small, and it isn’t allowed to invent behaviour: it picks from a closed set of actions, and the comedy is written in advance, by hand. The AI here is a translator and a comedian, not a game designer.” – Sergey Plyaka, founder, Meant Well Games.

Voice Heist is planned for release on PC in 2027.

About Meant Well Games

Meant Well Games is a four-person studio based in Dublin, Ireland. It makes games where AI works inside the gameplay rather than inside content production: characters who listen to the player and answer in the moment, instead of performing a pre-recorded dialogue tree. The art, the design and the comedy are authored by people — the model performs, it doesn’t write. The studio is named after its first character’s single most reliable quality.

About Tryll

Tryll Engine brings on-device AI into games, enabling developers to run AI models directly on players’ hardware and create new kinds of gaming experiences. Its engine runs small language models, speech recognition, and speech synthesis locally on the player’s machine, letting studios add conversational characters through Unity and Unreal plugins without relying on cloud services or per-message costs. The company is based in the US and Belgium. An Epic MegaGrants recipient.

THE FPS GAMES SHOW, PRESENTED BY BULKHEAD, DEBUTS ON 3 SEPTEMBER WITH A DEDICATED SHOWCASE FOR FPS PLAYERS

ESCAPE FROM TARKOV, READY OR NOT, RAINBOW SIX SIEGE, WARDOGS, GRAY ZONE WARFARE, HELL LET LOOSE: VIETNAM AND MORE JOIN A FAST-MOVING SHOWCASE OF NEWS, GAMEPLAY, UPDATES AND REVEALS ACROSS 16 TITLES

[19 August, 2026] –  The FPS Games Show, presented by Bulkhead, is a new pre-recorded showcase dedicated entirely to FPS games, which will debut live on 3 September 2026 at 19:00 BST / 20:00 CEST exclusively on Twitch at twitch.tv/thefpsgamesshow

A first-of-its-kind collaborative showcase, the FPS Games Show brings together studios from across the genre to create a shared showcase of content for FPS players. Rather than studios paying for placement or competing for attention, every developer involved is participating freely, with no paid placements and no marketing spend required to appear in the show. Instead, participating studios are coming together to champion one another’s games, share exclusive news, trailers and gameplay, and celebrate the FPS genre as a whole.

Built around titles players are already invested in, alongside new games and updates worth discovering, the show is designed to give the FPS community something it rarely gets: a showcase created collectively by the people making these games, for the players who love them.

FPS is one of gaming’s biggest, most passionate and most performance-driven audiences, but until now has not had a dedicated showcase of its own.

FPS games have been a cornerstone of the industry for more than three decades, building one of the biggest and most dedicated player communities in gaming. Yet that audience is underserved when it comes to a dedicated place for news, updates and new game reveals,” said Joe Brammer, CEO of Bulkhead.

The FPS Games Show aims to change that by bringing studios together to showcase their work, support one another and celebrate our collective love of the genre. It’s about giving FPS games, and the players who are passionate about them, a show of their own.”

Rather than mixing shooters into long line-ups spanning unrelated genres, the FPS Games Show puts FPS games, communities and players at the centre. Viewers can expect new trailers, gameplay, content updates and news, all wrapped in a show designed for FPS players, by FPS players.

The 16 title lineup includes: Rainbow Six Siege, Escape from Tarkov, Ready or Not, Stalzone, SCUM, Gray Zone Warfare, Wardogs, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Beautiful Light, Bellum, Incursion Red River, Road to Vostok, Sand Raiders of Sophie, Bodycam, 83, and Terminal War.

“The FPS Games Show is a great example of studios coming together to celebrate the genre, showcase the games players are invested in, and support each other’s work.” said Shed Wilson, Director + Co-Founder at BOOST.

There’s a real sense of unity around FPS games, both among the studios making them and the players who love them. This really is the first time studios have come together like this to showcase their games to the wider community.”

Every participating studio, publisher and creator will co-host the FPS Games Show directly to their own communities, significantly extending its reach across the genre. Through co-hosting, reactions and community promotion, each participant will not only showcase their own games, but help amplify those of others, with everyone taking part for free.

The show will combine a fast paced showcase with a player-first, self-aware tone, aiming to feel less like a corporate reel and more like something FPS players actually want to watch, featuring games and creators they know and respect. A proper celebration of the genre, made for players who want updates for the games they love.

Support from both Twitch and Steam further strengthens the FPS Games Show’s ambition to create a major collaborative moment for the genre. Twitch is helping bring this first-of-its-kind celebration to as many players as possible by supporting participating game communities and developers, while Steam will host a dedicated 3rd Party platform event featuring selected titles, including discounts, free demos and free weekends.

Together, their involvement brings developers, platforms and players together around FPS games as a whole.

The FPS Games Show, presented by Bulkhead, takes place on 3 September 2026 @ 19:00 BST / 20:00 CEST exclusively on Twitch at twitch.tv/thefpsgamesshow

About FPS Games Show

The FPS Games Show is a collaborative project between Bulkhead, BOOST and the studios and partners involved, and a first-of-its-kind showcase dedicated entirely to the FPS genre. It brings studios together around a shared moment for players to celebrate the games, communities and experiences that define it.

Built around real news, real gameplay and meaningful updates from titles players are already invested in, the show is created collaboratively by the studios taking part, with developers and publishers not only showcasing their own games, but helping champion the work of everyone involved. There are no paid placements or marketing fees required to participate; the aim is to create something the genre can collectively rally behind.

Combining game content, hosted moments, creator introductions and a consistent broadcast identity, the FPS Games Show is designed as a faster, more focused alternative to broad gaming showcases. It will be distributed through a dedicated Twitch channel, with further amplification from participating studios, publishers, creators and their communities.
