LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Makes the Jump to iOS

More than 6 years ago LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga was first released onto consoles and it was able to become a smash it. Now it seems its following in the footsteps of another landmark LEGO title and is making its way to iOS. The ability for LEGO Star Wars to make it anywhere again is pretty impressive as original publisher LucasArts was bought by Disney and developer TT Games was bought by Warner Bros., but it seems to have all been worked out.

Now those wanting to check out LEGO Star Wars again or for the first time have the option of whipping out their preferred iOS device and downloading the app. The full game is available to play complete with all the Episodes and its 120 character roster; unfortunately however, only Phantom Menace is available for free, with the rest of the Episodes requiring in-app purchases.

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga can be found right now on iTunes and works with iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

Daylight Sheds Light with New Info and Screenshots

Daylight, the upcoming horror game from Zombie Studios and publisher ATLUS, has revealed a bit more information today in the form of a lot of screenshots and some backstory into the game’s setting. Where before today nothing was ever shown outside the Mid Island Bay Hospital, today’s new images show off a brand new environment, the sewers.

With Daylight being procedurally generated, players can’t hope to get many clues as to how to navigate either of  the two locations, which is why the devs have also released some more on the backstory going as far back as the 1930’s when a steamboat fire claimed the lives of more than 1000 passengers who ended up being treated at the Mid Island Bay Hospital. From there the story gets even more grim as the hospital suffered from being forced to handle such a tragedy leading to the hospital closing.

daylight-screenshot-08

Mysteriously however the closing occurred without warning, leaving furniture, equipment, and files all behind at the abandoned hospital and island. Fast forward a few decades and later plans tried to secure the long empty location for a wealthy hospice, but after that too falls through even more mysteries remain. Now, only the main character Sarah Gwynn has to sort it out after awaking in the Hospital lobby in the present day.

What will be uncovered on the long abandoned island? Players will have their chance to find out when Daylight releases early next year for PS4 and PC. Those wanting to get even more in the mood of the Daylight can check out the screenshots in the galley embedded below.

Defeat Horrifying Creatures with Powerful Magic in Zero Zen’s “Conjurer: Awoken

Defeat Horrifying Creatures with Powerful Magic in Zero Zen’s “Conjurer: Awoken”

SEATTLE – Dec. 11, 2013 – Launching today on Android and iOS, Zero Zen’s Conjurer: Awoken adds a distinct Lovecraftian flavor to tower defense games. Based on an original concept, Conjurer tells the story of a wizard who, drunk with power, dissolves the thin veil separating the living and the dead. Tasked with correcting his mistake, the wizard must use magic crystals and powerful spells in order to survive his own creations.

With an emphasis on spells, fixed defense structures (crystals) and fast-paced action, Conjurer has players face wave after wave of increasingly powerful enemies, requiring quick reflexes and tactical might to beat each of its 10 unique campaign levels. The game’s intricate story is told through the wizard’s own words: a whirlwind of madness, curiosity, and the overbearing guilt of unleashing Evil unto his world.

Eventually, the creatures combine to form a great and horrendous “Tentor”-a building-sized beast that quickly becomes the wizard’s greatest adversary…

“A single creature inspired the world of Conjurer. I then wondered where it came from – and who was responsible,” said David Perez, founder and CEO, Zero Zen Games. “Playing as the flawed wizard who breaks the rules and allows monstrous beasts to enter his world is much more engaging than being the good guy. With Conjurer, I wanted to create an atmosphere of impending doom, of grave mistakes that if left unattended would lead to a sudden, horrific end.”

Key Features

  • Detailed 3D Graphics: Take down hordes of monsters in beautiful high-res graphics
  • Full Single-Player campaign: Play 10 increasingly challenging levels
  • Level Up: Improve Fire, Ice, Mana, and Evocate stats with Experience Points
  • Powerful Magic: Upgrade your crystals and subjugate your enemies with massive fireballs
  • Disturbing Monsters: Expect nightmares after experiencing the game’s horrific universe
  • Beyond the Campaign: Participate in a number of Endless gameplay modes
  • Supports Game Center & Google Achievements: Compete against your peers with live leaderboards for both iOS and Android

Conjurer: Awoken is free to download and play. Players can unlock the full game after level 4 for only $1.99.

Unique Strategy Tower Defense Game Puts Players In Full Control of the Action

December 12, 2013 – San Francisco, Calif., – Kabam, the leader in the western world for free-to-play core games, today announced the launch of Dark District for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, with an Android release coming soon on Google Play.  A science fiction-themed combat strategy game, Dark District raises the bar of the tower defense genre by putting players in full control of their mechs during battle in a visually stunning 3D world.

Dark District rises above the countless number of tower defense games on the market,” said Andrew Sheppard, president of Kabam Studios.  “By creating a high-fidelity 3D world that pushes the graphical capabilities of the latest hardware and empowers players to control every aspect of combat, Dark District achieves a visceral gameplay experience that blows past player expectations.”

Dark District is a sci-fi thriller that places players in a dystopian society set in the future on Tenebri, a tidally locked planet orbiting a star distant from Earth. Dark District, a remote mining colony without daylight, became the epicenter of an amazing new source of energy. Communication with Earth was mysteriously lost and the city has exploded into chaos. Players are able to build a district, train an army of mech units and engage in visceral combat against conflicting factions in a battle for dominance.  They can also strategically select targets during attacks and command fully controllable mechs to own the future. Dark District Game features include:

  • Strategic live assaults: Command fully controllable mechs, ground and air vehicles with the ability to change approach mid-action.
  • Experience the future in stunning 3D: The cityscape of this post-apocalyptic future has never looked so good.
  • Band together to be victorious: Form an alliance with other players to seize power against other factions. A strategic partnership can raise individuals to the top of the leaderboards.
  • Merciless single and multiplayer combat: Select PvE single mode to progress through campaigns or PvP multiplayer mode to attack live districts.

The Dark District App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch . For more information visit www.kabam.com.

About Child’s Play
Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.

Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital’s wish list and send a gift.

Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience. www.childsplaycharity.org.

Activision Publishing, Inc. and Cabela’s Announce Release of Cabela’s® Big Game Hunter®, A Free-To-Play Authentic Hunting Experience For Mobile Devices

Activision Publishing, Inc. and Cabela’s Announce Release of Cabela’s® Big Game Hunter®, A Free-To-Play Authentic Hunting Experience For Mobile Devices

The Biggest Hunting Video Game Franchise* Makes Its Debut on Mobile

Activision Publishing, Inc. and Cabela’s, the worldwide leader in hunting, have brought the No. 1 hunting video game franchise to mobile devices with Cabela’s® Big Game Hunter®, a free-to-play title for mobile devices that lets players hunt the biggest and most dangerous animals on the planet.

Cabela’s® Big Game Hunter® is made for those that appreciate the authentic details in a hunting game. It has multi-tiered, objective-based missions that offer a wide range of hunting experiences, from the heart-pounding survival mode and thrilling dangerous hunts to the skill-testing timed challenges. Players track down a wide selection of wildlife across the American North and Northwest, including grizzly bears, mountain lions, white-tailed deer and more! The animals are lifelike and native to each environment.

“Cabela’s and Activision have been working together on hunting video games for over a decade, and we’ve consistently been No. 1 in the genre,” said Eric Wieser, Director of Merchandising at Cabela’s. “Cabela’s® Big Game Hunter® is our first title developed from the ground up specifically for mobile. We’ve taken our time with this to make sure we offer our fans something authentic.”

The player can play casually or go deep by mixing and matching custom loadouts with rifles, bows, pistols, shotguns and clothing. No detail is spared. There are abilities to unlock that let players slow down time and increase accuracy, and an X-ray mode is accessible to help take that perfect shot at the animal’s vitals. All hunters want evidence to back up those tall tales, so the game has leader boards and a trophy room that show off proof of hunting achievements.

Cabela’s® Big Game Hunter® is available right now for FREE on the Apple App Store (http://bit.ly/IDSC9d) and Google Play (http://bit.ly/J3i1Je). Stay on the move with the latest updates by following along on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ActivisionHunts) and Twitter @ActivisionHunts.

Galaxy Run Review
Publisher: Spiel Studios
Developer: Spiel Studios
Platforms: iPhone (reviewed),  iPad
Release Date: 11/12/2013
Price: $0.99 (Available Here)

Overview

Have you got some SPACE on your mobile device? Sick of RUNNING errands and just want to chill out and play some video games? Are you excited to hear all my terrible space and running themed puns? Meet Galaxy Run by Spiel Studios. It may not be the most memorable game of all time, but it’s casual, it’s fun, it’s addictive and is currently $0.99 at the App Store. With a catchy soundtrack and an awesome old school feel, this single screen runner is worth checking out if you’re up for a challenge. May the force be with you!

galaxy-run-4

Gameplay

The controls are so simple a baby could play this game, but I wouldn’t suggest giving your phone to that hypothetical baby yet because this game is pretty difficult. Also, don’t trust your phone with a baby, that’s stupid. Galaxy Run is a single screen runner with plenty of punisher platformer elements that I haven’t been tortured with since Triangle Man. Players take control of Rez, an astronaut trying to get home by running, jumping and telling gravity to piss off. Players say goodbye to virtual joysticks and hello to a single tap of the screen to start movement, but once Rez is running he won’t stop until he either gets to the end goal or dies like a turtle in Super Mario. By tapping the screen again Rez will jump over obstacles, and everything else is automated. This can range from grappling hooks to using power ups. It may sound easy, but that’s far from the case as level design constantly gets increasingly hard. What should be commended is how the developers choose to introduce new types of obstacles along the way, with easier levels to let you get used to the new mechanics before going back to insanely difficult. It’s things like this that make every goal seem achievable and stops what could’ve been infuriating hard game into an enjoyable, challenging one. Every level also includes a timer, which continues even after you die. This adds up until you’ve completed the level and will then judge you. If you get three orbs you’ve 100% cleared, if not then you suck. This is to add to replay value and not to keep you stuck in a level as once you’ve completed you’re free to move on. Levels are also short, sweet and fast paced so everything constantly stays fresh while also exciting. A shop is also present with power ups that encourage the standard in-app purchases and if you do well you can also unlock secret levels. I haven’t said a pun in a while so I’ll just end this paragraph with saying that the level design is astronomical!

galaxy-run-2

Audio & Visual

The biggest highlight of Galaxy Run is it’s amazingly catchy soundtrack. Featuring autotuned vocals and various electronic influences, these tracks capture the fun and excitement perfectly, encouraging the player to push forth through the various obstacles that lie before them. Graphics are also a major plus. The retro-inspired visuals are filled with personality and go hand in hand with gameplay. All together the presentation comes across as solid and well polished coming together as a impressive package. One might even go so far to say it’s….out of this world! Yeah I know, I’m terrible. I’m ok with that.

galaxy-run-3
Overall

Galaxy Run is the full package. Pick-up-and-play controls, challenging level design, replay value, fun soundtrack and retro graphics make for a solid casual title that even hardcore gamers can enjoy. The quick, short levels lead to fast and fun gameplay that’s always feeling fresh. That being said it’s held back by the fact that at the end of the day it’s still a really simple title, perhaps at times too simple. The most important thing to say about Galaxy Run is that it’s fun – something many mobile games forget to be these days, and that’s special regardless of what galaxy you’re from. It’s as simple as that.
