Word Forward is an ingenious new word puzzle game you can play alone or with friends via Game Center.

Can you use all of the letters in the 5×5 grid to make words? Touch and drag to spell out words, making those letters disappear. You also can manipulate the board with special modifiers that allow you to replace, swap, jumble and remove letters.

It’s just as important to think of the letters you leave behind as the ones you clear – after all you wouldn’t want to paint yourself into a corner.

• FIND dictionary words by tracing a line between tiles to spell them out. Tiles can be linked in any direction including diagonally.

• SWAP any two letters on the grid by using a SWAP TOKEN, earned during gameplay.

• REPLACE a letter on the grid with a SPARE from your inventory to make longer words.

• JUMBLE the tiles on the grid to replace all the letters with new ones when all else fails.

• CHANGE the letter on a tile to any other letter you choose using the SWAP MODIFIER.

• ELIMINATE stubborn tiles with BOMBS when you can’t make any more words and need to nudge your score over the line.

Wearable Technology in Gaming Soon to be a Reality?

In an effort to get more Australian’s to sign up to their pay TV service, Foxtel is currently holding a promotion that involves a cheaper rate, bonus channels and one other very unique extra called the Alert Shirt, a regular looking AFL guersey with a big difference. Created by CHE Proximity, the Alert Shirt looks to capitalise on the wearable techonology trend, advertising the ability to physcially connect you to the game with real time stats and actions translating into exhaustion, pressure, impact, frustration and adrenaline. All this data will be received through a simple mobile Bluetooth application that you install on your phone, with the Shirt being powered through a lithium battery.

This is definitely exciting for sports fans and is a huge step forward in creating an immersive experience, but it doesn’t take much imagination to begin thinking about all the exciting implications this kind of wearable tech could have for gaming. The current technology being implemented in the Alert Shirt to feel the intensity of AFL football with real time stats could easily be transferred to the sports games we know and love such as FIFA, 2K and Madden. Imagine the feeling of force after you block an attack from an enemy or the rush of adrenalin when you land a 10-hit combo. How about a heightened sense of pressure when you and your opponent are both close to death or a feeling of exhaustion after you’ve sprinted too long so you and your character both have to rest. The possibilities are endless, especially when you consider this type of technology could one day be paired up with other wearable inventions such as the Oculus Rift.

We’ve seen interactive peripherals be successful in the market before. The plastic guitar and drum kits from the likes of Guitar Hero that made you feel like you were in a rock band or the humble Wii Remote that provided a way for casuals to easily get into a game and feel like you were playing Tennis or Golf without ever leaving the living room are just two recent examples that come to mind. We’ve also seen some pretty abysmal failures such as the Nintendo Power Glove or ROB, which were probably just way too ahead of their time. Whether this interactive tech succeeds or fails will be based on how immersive it can be and how well developers can design the experience to match the on screen action.

The excitement and technology is now here for game developers to utilise and now it’s up to a major company to dive in and take the risk (my money’s on Nintendo). It’s not hard to see a Kickstarter based around this also being a great success. As the heir to the King of Wolfkrone, Hilde showed an ability to rule and gather people at an early age. After her father’s insanity, our heroin had to show to her people that a true leader remains within the Kingdom: the quest to destroy Soul Edge was depending on her now…

Ubisoft have announced that Might & Magic X – Legacy DLC “The Falcon & The Unicorn” will be available for download from March 27th. If you own the deluxe edition this DLC will be available to you for free, otherwise it set you back £5.49. People on the Mac platform who have wanted to get into the game will be happy to know they won’t have to wait much longer, as Might & Magic X – Legacy will be coming to Steam for Mac on the March 27th as well after being available on Windows PC for some time now.

The “The Falcon & The Unicorn” DLC introduces an exclusive quest line, 2 new dungeons, an all-new array of iconic enemies from the Haven faction and more. The epic events of Might & Magic X – Legacy made our favourite group of Raiders the heroes of Ashan and now the Holy Inquisition itself wants their heads, accusing them of crimes they didn’t commit. Sentenced to rot away until death on the prison island of Fort Laegaire, the Raiders must once again combine their wits and skills to unravel a sinister plot targeting the heart of the imperial court.

Might & Magic X – Legacy is a single player first person RPG with a turn-based gameplay system. Players determine the fate of the Agyn Peninsula by leading their group of adventurers around the city of Karthal, battling powerful mythical beasts and collecting ancient magical treasures.

The block-placing phenomenon is back at Insomnia: April 18th-21st 2014

London, UK – Thursday March 13^th, 2014: Multiplay, organiser of the UK’s largest gaming festivals, has today announced that Minecraft will once again feature at its next event, Insomnia51, as part of the Minecraft Zone.

Following on from last summer’s Minecraft Expo at Insomnia49, Multiplay is bringing back the features that entertained Minecraft fans of all ages from across the country and beyond. The Minecraft Zone will offer free-to-enter tournaments for the most popular gametypes, panel talks and presentations in the dedicated 650 seat auditorium, with an exhibition featuring examples from the best and brightest of the community, as well as the chance to purchase official Minecraft merchandise from J!nx.
