F1 RACE STARS™ POWERSLIDES ONTO iOS

F1 RACE STARS’ NEW WORLD OF ARCADE RACING BRINGS CONSOLE QUALITY GAMEPLAY, GRAPHICS AND DEPTH TO APPLE DEVICES

22nd May 2014: Codemasters® today announced that a new free-to-play world of FORMULA 1™ fun has launched as F1 RACE STARS™ races onto  iPad, iPhones and iPods. F1 RACE STARS is a visually stunning, fully-featured arcade racing game that brings console quality gameplay, graphics and depth to iOS. A gameplay video showing F1 RACE STARS in action is now playing at www.youtube.com/formula1game.

Gary Rowe, VP Digital Business, Codemasters, said “F1 RACE STARS is a hugely exciting project for us. Combining our experience in delivering award-winning FORMULA 1 videogames with the next leap forward with our in-house technology, F1 RACE STARS delivers racing fans of all ages the gameplay, visuals and content expected of a full console release, free-to-play on iOS.”

F1 RACE STARS is fully optimised for Apple’s latest A7 chip powered devices, and is compatible with iOS game controllers. It is the first mobile title developed using the next generation of Codemasters’ proprietary EGO Game Technology Platform, which will span development from smart devices and the latest consoles to high-end PC titles.

“This is an all-new F1 RACE STARS development for iOS.  It retains the depth of a console experience, but has been designed from the ground up for portable play. The handling is easy to pick up and features a new powerslide mechanic for building boosts as you race around each of our fast and furious new circuits. The game is packed with content, including different race modes, power-ups and upgrades and the rich single player experience is complemented by local multiplayer modes,” said Chris Gray, Senior Producer, Codemasters.

“By using our latest EGO technology, we’re able to deliver console-quality visuals on smart devices, including High Dynamic Range rendering with bloom, an extensive range of full screen post process effects, such as blur, anti-aliasing, dynamic weather, and much more. Basically, it looks amazing and is really impressive on a big screen thanks to its native TV out support, especially when played with a game controller.”

From Codemasters, the home of multi-million selling, award-winning FORMULA 1 videogames, F1 RACE STARS is officially licensed to feature all the cars, teams and drivers from the 2013 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ as never seen before on iOS. Players can take on over 40 super-charged tracks from 15 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX™ locations across the world. Each has been designed for quick-fire portable gaming and features jumps, shortcuts, and a range of awesome power-ups, including Wet Weather, Homing Bubbles, Safety Car and many more.

Using touch or tilt controls, handling is accessible, fast and fun – players can build boost by using a powerslide mechanic around corners and then slingshot up the track, use slipstream to haul in their rivals and race across boost pads to speed through the pack.

F1 RACE STARS features a deep, content-rich single-player game, including five different game modes. Gamers can compete against FORMULA ONE drivers, including Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, or race as a fantasy driver – each with their own unique special abilities – including Robot, Ninja, Secret Agent and many more. Players can also collect and combine hundreds of upgrades to improve and customise their on-track performance.  The single player game is further extended with local multiplayer racing available via Bluetooth for two-players and over WiFi for up to four players.

F1 RACE STARS is engineered to work with iPad 2 or newer, iPhone 4 or newer and iPod Touch 5 and is available for free download from the App Store now. SQUIDS Odyssey Tactical RPG Now Available in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U

The Game Bakers’ Squid heroes make console debut in an epic underwater adventure

MONTPELIER, France – May 22, 2014 – Independent developer The Game Bakers have just pulled their latest delicacy from the oven, and SQUIDS are on the menu! Gamers hungry for a tactical RPG with an epic adventure storyline, crisp cartoon graphics, and strategic, turn-based gameplay can now download SQUIDS Odyssey in the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U™ system. The game will also release for the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system in the near future.

In SQUIDS Odyssey, a murky black ooze is seeping into the water, turning crustaceans into cranky monsters. With their peaceful realm under siege, a scrappy shoal of Squid heroes has no other choice but to fight back. During turn-based battles against their oily enemies, these unlikely heroes’ squishy bodies serve as their best weapons: simply stretch a Squid’s tentacles, aim, then let go to shoot it across the battlefield. Four hero classes, stat-boosting helmets, and power-ups add a strategic element to the role-playing gameplay.

To control the Squids, players can use the Left Stick to aim and shoot, or go “hands on” to stretch the Squids’ tentacles on the Wii U™ GamePad touch screen. The game can be enjoyed in high definition on the TV, or in Off-TV-Mode played exclusively on the GamePad.

SQUIDS Odyssey Features:

  • Build your party from 15 different Squids in four classes — shooters, scouts, troopers, and healers
  • Win turn-based battles with strategy and skill, using the environment and your party’s strengths to your advantage
  • Lose yourself in an epic story across four exotic underwater kingdoms
  • Engage in 90+ missions for more than 15 hours of gameplay in the main storyline, plus an expert Pro Mode that doubles the game length and provides extra challenge
  • Boost your heroes abilities with 65+ fun and funky-looking helmets

The Game Bakers’ SQUIDS games have had more than two million downloads since their 2011 debut on mobile. As the franchise’s first appearance on consoles, SQUIDS Odyssey is the ultimate SQUIDS compilation that includes all content previously released, with tons of improvement and tweaks. Content exclusive to SQUIDS Odyssey includes a new chapter that continues the adventure in the never-before-seen kingdom of Wakame, a new Squid warrior named Oktoku, and four new helmets.

SQUIDS Odyssey can be downloaded for 12.99€ / $14.99 (or equivalent in local currency) from the Nintendo eShop. For more game details, visit:

RETURN TO POST-APOCALYPTIC MOSCOW WITH METRO REDUX

RETURN TO POST-APOCALYPTIC MOSCOW WITH METRO REDUX

– Critically acclaimed Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light re-mastered for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC; coming Summer 2014 at an incredible low price –

Larkspur, Calif., May 22, 2014 – 4A Games and Deep Silver are bringing the iconic and award-winning Metro series to the next generation: Metro Redux features fully re-mastered and improved versions of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, creating the most compelling Metro experience ever. Upon release, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will each be available separately as a digital download for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and PC for $24.99. Alongside the digital release, a boxed compilation containing both games, Metro Redux will be available at retail for a suggested $49.99.

With new, never-seen-before content and new gameplay features, as well as outstanding updated graphical fidelity and silky smooth 60FPS gameplay, Metro Redux is much more than a simple HD upgrade.
For the Redux edition, Metro 2033 has been completely overhauled:

· The original game has been rebuilt in the latest and greatest iteration of the 4A Engine, bringing all the graphical and gameplay improvements from Metro: Last Light to Metro 2033 Redux
· Experience radically improved gameplay: advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus signature features from Last Light such as the atmospheric ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customization, and silent kills and takedowns
· Enjoy completely re-mastered visuals: advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction and improved smoke, fire and particle effects
Metro: Last Light Redux has also received a graphical facelift and gameplay improvements that carry across both titles, including new melee animations, and the fan-requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. It also includes all previously released Season Pass add-on content – a further 10 hours of single-player gameplay.
With Metro Redux, players now have the choice to experience both Metro games the way they want with the introduction of two unique ‘Play Styles.’

Those who favored the more survival horror oriented gameplay of Metro 2033 can play both campaigns in the ‘Survival’ Play Style, a fraught slow-burn fight for survival with limited resources, deadlier enemy AI, and slower reload speeds. Those who enjoyed the more action oriented gameplay of Metro: Last Light can try the ‘Spartan’ Play Style, providing Artyom with a powerful set of combat skills and more plentiful resources.

In addition, the legendary Ranger Mode returns to both games, providing the most immersive and challenging experience as the HUD is stripped away and hardcore rules apply.

Dedicated Linux and SteamOS versions will also release later this year.

Metro Redux is based on the internationally bestselling novel Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

SXPD: THE ROOKIE NOW AVAILABLE ON THE APP STORE

SAN FRANCISCO – May 22, 2014 – OneBigGame, the non-profit publisher of videogames, has proudly launched SXPD: The Rookie, a new hybrid comic book game available exclusively on iPad.

Developed specifically for OneBigGame’s charity initiative, SXPD: The Rookie was directed by games industry legend David Perry (a.o. Earthworm Jim, MDK, Messiah) and developed by Little Chicken Game Company in collaboration with graphic novel writer and artist Duke Mighten (a.o. DC Comics’ Batman: Book of Shadows, Marvel Comics’ Punisher 2099, Judge Dredd).

The fast-paced narrative revolves around the adventures of the SXPD, a female-only police force battling the forces of evil in the fantastical city of New Royale. The app can best be described as the world’s first true comic book game, in which state of the art comic book pages transform seamlessly into hi-octane racing game action and vice versa.

SXPD: The Rookie has been created specifically for OneBigGame, and net proceeds will be donated to the non-profit initiative, which the company will disperse among a number of official charity partners.

“We are extremely proud of SXPD,” commented Martin de Ronde, OneBigGame. “When David first pitched the idea to us as a project for OneBigGame, I expected it to be great, but it has turned out to be unique, something truly special, and a great new addition to the OneBigGame catalogue.”

“When OneBigGame asked me to contribute to their charity initiative, I took inspiration from my favorite 8-bit game of all time, 3D Deathchase on the ZX Spectrum,” said David Perry. “This game is a tribute to that masterpiece as well as a unique game in its own right, bringing together comic books and games in a new way.

“OneBigGame is all about bringing developers together to do something good and have fun at the same time, and SXPD is the perfect example of that,” said Duke Mighten of Mighten Ink. “As a comic book artist and art director on games, I’ve always been intrigued by the overlap between these two forms of entertainment, and SXPD is a cool blend of comic and games.”

“As a project for charity, SXPD has been a labor of love for us, and we feel this really shows in every aspect of the game,” said Michiel Sala, CEO, Little Chicken. “We hope fans of racing games and comic books will feel the passion with which we’ve built this product.”

SXPD: The Rookie is available for $1.99 from the App Store on iPad or at www.AppStore.com.
