PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Enhances Ranked System in Update 42.1

Update 42.1 introduces survival-focused RP adjustments, new consecutive placement bonuses, and a revamped Workshop probability structure designed to improve the overall player experience.

EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. – June 17, 2026KRAFTON, Inc. has released Update 42.1 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, introducing improvements to the Ranked system.

Ranked Season 42 will run for three months, longer than usual, as part of preparations for the upcoming Ranked revamp. The update introduces adjustments to the Rank Point (RP) system with a greater emphasis on survival, one of the core elements of Battle Royale gameplay. Final placement now carries greater weight in RP calculations, and additional RP can be earned by achieving high placements in consecutive matches. Secret Rooms have also been added to Ranked and Custom Matches – Esports Mode.

Black Market 2026 has also arrived with a revamped reward structure. As outlined in the 2026 Roadmap, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has removed the previous two-step probability structure involving Loot Caches and Prime Parcels. Players can now obtain Progressive weapon skins and other rewards directly from a single Cargo. A new Workshop page, Supply Bay, has also been introduced, bringing the full Cargo experience, from opening Cargo and viewing results to claiming milestone rewards, into one streamlined flow. Returning Progressive weapon skins include Demon’s Touch – ACE32, Rest in Pink – Dragunov, Yule Sleigh – Mini14, and Neon Dream – AUG, along with newly released Chromas.

The Blue Zone system has also been updated. In Normal Match, the Blue Zone has been adjusted to create more room for late-game engagements while maintaining the overall match duration. In Ranked, select phase timings have been shortened to improve match pacing, while Safe Zone placement adjustments have been reduced to increase unpredictability. Blue Zone damage now scales based on the amount of time spent inside the Blue Zone, rather than distance from the Safe Zone.

Additional updates include the introduction of Interactive Smoke, the new PUBG Nations Cup (PNC) Fantasy League, SLR balance adjustments, and the limited-time Ally Duo mode in Arcade.

More details on Update 42.1 can be found on the official PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS website at https://pubg.com/en/news/10179

Funky Can Creative Announces TeaKnights, a Y2K-Inspired Musical Rail Shooter Now in Development

MONTERREY, Mexico – June 18, 2026 – Funky Can Creative, the Mexico-based independent studio behind the PopSlinger series, is excited to announce TeaKnights, a brand-new Y2K-inspired musical rail shooter currently in development and targeting Steam and Nintendo Switch.

First revealed through Funky Can Creative’s official announcement post, TeaKnights marks a new journey for the studio as it develops its own Sin & Punishment-style musical rail-shooter, built around low-poly 3D graphics, fast arcade movement, and a vivid audiovisual identity.

The announcement quickly drew attention online, with the reveal post receiving more than 4.3K likes within 24 hours. The project was also covered by Japanese games outlet Game*Spark, which highlighted TeaKnights as a low-poly 3D rail shooter inspired by classics such as Sin & Punishment and Star Fox 64.

A New Musical Action Game from the Creators of PopSlinger

With TeaKnights, Funky Can Creative is expanding beyond the soda-and-coffee-fueled 2D action of PopSlinger into a new 3D action direction. The game blends rail-shooter mechanics with the studio’s love for music, stylish presentation, and expressive character-driven worlds.

Rather than being only a 1990s throwback, TeaKnights leans into a broader Y2K-inspired identity: low-poly 3D visuals, early-2000s digital attitude, retro-pop color, arcade speed, and the kind of playful audiovisual energy that shaped a generation of games, anime, and music culture.

Players can expect a musical rail-shooter experience where aiming, dodging, movement, and rhythm-driven style come together in colorful stages filled with personality.

“After PopSlinger, we wanted to begin a new journey while keeping the same expressive spirit that defines what we do,” said Jose Luis Abreu, Director of Funky Can Creative. “TeaKnights is our own take on the musical rail shooter — fast, stylish, low-poly, and full of the Y2K energy that shaped so much of what we love about games and pop culture. Seeing the first reaction from fans and Japanese press has been incredibly encouraging.”

Follow Development on Patreon

Alongside the announcement, Funky Can Creative has launched a new Patreon where fans can follow the development of TeaKnights more closely.

The Patreon will give supporters access to deeper behind-the-scenes updates, development notes, early creative materials, and more intricate looks at the game as production continues. It is designed as a space for fans who want to follow the creative process beyond trailers, screenshots, and public announcements.

The difference is what happens after the catch: Tomo are not just collected and stored away. Players bring them home, build places for them to live, and shape an island settlement around the creatures they love.

“The community has been asking about Nintendo Switch 2 since the first days of the campaign,” said Benjamin Devienne, Founder and CEO of Onibi“Tomo is about setting sail to find rare creatures, bringing them home, and building a world around them. That fantasy feels very natural on Nintendo hardware, and we wanted to celebrate the final days of the Kickstarter by confirming that bringing Tomo to Switch 2 is part of our plan.”

The planned Nintendo Switch 2 version remains subject to Nintendo approval. Onibi also confirmed plans for Mac and Linux versions, and that DRM-free alternatives will be available for players who prefer to own and play outside locked storefronts.

Set forth on your quest to [INSERT GOAL HERE] with one of the worthy yet quirky heroes in solo or cooperative play, local and online. Hack, slash, and dodge through hordes of enemies and deadly traps in procedurally generated runs of hand-crafted rooms and levels using each hero’s unique attacks and abilities to your advantage.

Sharp reflexes and split-second decisions are crucial to survival as the intensity ratchets up as each run delivers new surprises, branching paths, and unrelenting bosses to conquer. “Whenever I search for ‘roguelike’ I don’t find what I’m looking for,” says Doinksoft’s Cullen Dwyer. “I get a poker game or a pachinko game or a heartfelt narrative about a Greek god or a Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. How are those at all like a 1980s turn-based, grid-locked dungeon crawler that you can play in the command line with vim control bindings? They have ‘randomness’? Pathetic. And here I am, part of the problem. Might as well call it a Metroidvania too.”

FEATURES

  • Choose from a cast of 9 playable characters and hurl axes, fling arrows, toss knives, and even flip steaks at a rogues’ gallery of bizarre enemies
  • Each character, whether it’s a burly berserker or a saxophone-playing rat, has unique skills, side objectives, and customizable trinkets to experiment with
  • Play solo or invite a pal aboard to help. Dark Scrolls supports both local and online co-op and collaborating players can strategize and revive each other mid-level
  • Super authentic old school visuals, SFX, and music. Looks and sounds like classic games of yore, but with the sparkle of modern controls and design
  • Procedurally generated levels stitched together from hand-crafted rooms. Every run offers new surprises, branching paths, and skill-testing bosses

Whether you’re playing alone or adventuring with a buddy, Dark Scrolls is packed with charm, challenge, and secrets. Hack, slash, and dodge your way through hordes of enemies and deadly traps as the level nudges you ever forward. Will you survive?

Serenity Forge Announces Sister Other Paranoia a New Dark Visual Novel from the Creator of NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE

Everyone else should die, except my sister

Boulder, Colo. (June 16, 2026) – Today, publisher Serenity Forge (Fractured Blooms, Slay the Princess, To The Moon, Doki Doki Literature Club!) and developer Studio HazeDenki, the team behind NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, announced Sister Other Paranoia, a surreal interactive animation presented as a dark visual novel, accompanied by a new trailer:

Sister Other Paranoia follows a quiet first-year university student with a strange knack for sensing the “colors” of other people’s emotions. To escape his rough-tempered parents and the noise of everyday life, he shuts himself away in his room with his gentle, highly gifted younger sister, spending his days reading books and writing his own light novel, the wave of envy and malice that begin to surround him -both online and offline- push his mind to the brink, and he starts to feel a very real, murderous urge toward the people around him.

Sister Other Paranoia blends a retro horror “denpa” atmosphere with a focus on psychological tension. Players make key dialogue choices about how the protagonist responds to the unpleasant people around him, and watch as those choices steadily twist the relationships and push each character toward a different, often disturbing fate.

To celebrate the announcement, Serenity Forge will be heading to Anime Expo on July 2-5 with Nyalra, the main creator of Sister Other Paranoia and NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, VO and the creators of the anime NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, which is currently available on Crunchyroll. The event will feature a panel and an autograph session with Nyalra, where new merchandise for both games will be available for Anime Expo attendees.

Demo For PvE Extraction Shooter No Such Place Climbs the Steam Next Fest Charts

Explore, loot, and escape in a retro multiplayer extraction shooter demo

Shenzhen, China June 16, 2026 | Publisher ChillyRoom and developer Crit Team are excited to announce that a demo for No Such Place — its upcoming top-down PvE extraction shooter — is available on Steam now as part of Valve’s latest Steam Next Fest celebration. The demo, which supports multiplayer co-op for up to four players, is currently the twelfth most popular Steam Next Fest demo and is climbing the charts.

Watch the No Such Place trailer below:

In No Such Place, players take on the role of agents from the U.R.C. — Unknown Research Consortium. This mysterious organisation is dedicated to investigating supernatural anomalies erased from known history. Dispatched into fragmented dimensions, players must survive hostile environments, gather supplies and intelligence, and locate an extraction point before time runs out.

Some of those hostile environments include abandoned military outposts, mist-shrouded research facilities, eternal forests, and frozen mountains. While uncovering ancient relics and highly classified documents, players can scavenge for medicine, equipment, and weapons to aid their survival against monsters, rival agents, mercenaries, and more.

No Such Place also features a highly flexible weapon customisation system where players can mix and match all sorts of gun parts. For example, a motorcycle suppressor can be attached to an assault rifle, a Victorian brass scope can be mounted on modern military hardware, and a corrupted rifle magazine can be slotted into a pistol.

Players can play the No Such Place demo on Steam right now. All demo save data can be carried over to the game’s launch, scheduled for later this year.
