Master of Orion Collector’s Edition Now Available

Purchase of Collector’s Edition unlocks Early Access and exclusive content

February 26, 2016 — Master of Orion is another step closer to launch as WG Labs announces the availability of the Collector’s Edition offering Early Access to all who purchase. As of today, explorers can “Conquer the Stars” with six playable races, battle against friends in multiplayer or AI opponents and test their mettle in real-time Tactical Battles.

Early Access puts players first in line to experience all of Master of Orion’s iconic 4X gameplay and more. Six diverse races—Mrrshan, Psilon, Bulrathi, Alkari, Human, Sakkra—will be the first races to battle for supremacy of the galaxy, with more to arrive in the near future. There are many paths to victory for explorers in their quest for Orion, such as “Diplomatic”, “Conquest” and “Excellence”, and more on the horizon.

Multiplayer is a big part of the Early Access package. Explorers can lay down the gauntlet to friends across the world and challenge them to a campaign or embark on their own road to galactic conquest against AI races. Real-time Tactical Battles add a new, immersive dynamic to Master of Orion, letting players take their own, custom-designed fleets to war, where they must use every trick and tactic at their disposal to claim victory.

The launch of the Master of Orion grants players the three original Master of Orion titles. Upon the game’s final release later in 2016, a detailed digital art book, soundtrack by original Master of Orion composer, retro pixel ships, and an exclusive race for Collector’s Edition holders: the Terran Khanate become available. To discover more about the Master of Orion Collector’s Edition and start conquering the stars, visit the official Steam and Gog.com portals:

call-of-cthulhu-screenshot-01

That which is not dead can eternal lie, proved time and again by the plethora of Lovecraftian mythos pervading the popular spheres. This time around the stars have aligned to bring us Call of Cthulhu: a video game adaptation of the RPG pen and paper classic. Developed by Cyanide Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive, Call of Cthulhu was announced today for release on consoles and PC. Described as an RPG-investigation game with psychological horror and stealth mechanics, early screenshots showcase the dark, brooding ambiance that the Lovecraftian universe is famous for.

Seeking to uncover the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family, while exploring a mysterious island, the player will be forced to deal with a far more uncomfortable truth, as the Great Dreamer, Cthulhu, begins to wake from his eternal slumber. Not the first foray for video gaming into the Lovecraftian mythos, Call of Cthulhu will have no doubt have to compete against precursors such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent (challenging), or 2005’s Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (not hard to be better than).

Fans new and old will be able to roll for SAN loss some time in 2017. Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn! Rejoice that Cthulhu sleeps!

Falcom has released some new information, screenshots, and artwork for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and with it comes the reveal that the title will feature two protagonists rather than simply focusing entirely on Adol like usual. The second protagonist in the game is named Dana and she wields two crescent moon swords and uses her agile abilities to quickly slash away at opponents.

Dana’s story will take place while Adol is sleeping as she will appear in his dreams and although she may look quite lovely, her actions are quite bold and often surprise those around her. AMANITA DESIGN’S SAMOROST 3 COMING TO WINDOWS PC AND MAC ON MARCH 24

AMANITA DESIGN’S SAMOROST 3 COMING TO WINDOWS PC AND MAC ON MARCH 24

Machinarium and Botanicula Studio Returns to Its Roots for a New Point-and-Click Exploration Adventure Game

PRAGUE, Czech Republic – Feb. 26, 2016 – Amanita Design, the independent minds behind award-winning games like Machinarium and Botanicula, have announced that their latest title, Samorost 3, is expected to launch on Windows PC and Mac systems on March 24. Samorost 3 is a point-and-click exploration adventure game that loosely continues the stories established in Samorost (2003) and Samorost 2 (2005), both cult hits of early indie gaming.

Samorost 3 is by far our biggest, most ambitious project to date,” said Samorost creator and Amanita Design founder Jakub Dvorský. “Our goal was to create something playful yet dense, blending the challenging logic puzzles of Machinarium with the more relaxed gameplay and tone of Botanicula. We think it offers something that both longtime fans of the series and newcomers will be able to enjoy.”

As Samorost 3 begins, a little space gnome finds a strange magical flute that falls from the sky. He uses the instrument’s powers to travel to the cosmos in search of its origins, scouring the alien landscapes of five planets and four moons to solve clever mysteries along the way. Each of Samorost 3’s organically inspired biomes presents a uniquely colorful world full of hidden surprises and achievements for keen players to discover.

Samorost 3’s surreal art style and character designs sell a universe that is at once astonishingly otherworldly and oddly familiar, brought to life with highly detailed graphics and animations. Beyond instilling an intensely atmospheric energy, the game’s abstract yet expressive sound design, accompanied by an original soundtrack from Tomáš “Floex” Dvorák, often plays a crucial role in delivering subtle environmental clues for players to piece together.

Samorost 3 is expected to arrive on PC and Mac on March 24 for $19.99 through Steam, GOG.com, Humble Store, the Mac App Store, and its official website: www.samorost3.net. Samorost 3 Cosmic Edition – containing the full game, a digital art book and its original soundtrack – will be available for $24.99. The core game is expected to come to iOS and Android smartphones and tablets later this year.

About Amanita Design

Amanita Design is a small, independent game development studio based in the Czech Republic. It was established in 2003 when Jakub Dvorský completed his thesis project at the Academy of Arts in Prague by creating a free online flash game called Samorost. In 2005, animator Václav Blín joined the studio and Samorost 2 was created. Since then, our team has expanded further to include several excellent collaborators – musicians Floex and Dva, programmers David Oliva, Peter Stehlík and Jan Werner, painter Adolf Lachman, sound effects expert Tomáš Dvorák and animator Jaromír Plachý. Besides making computer games, the studio has also created music videos, websites, animated works, and illustrations, and has done production design, as well.

NEW GAMEPLAY VIDEO: GET YOUR FIRST LOOK INTO THE WORLD OF THE DESCENDANT

NEW GAMEPLAY VIDEO: GET YOUR FIRST LOOK INTO THE WORLD OF THE DESCENDANT

Gaming Corps, a Swedish game studio composed of industry veterans, is giving a tantalizing look into the story and gameplay of their upcoming episodic post-apocalyptic thriller, The Descendant. With the first episode arriving on March 24, this new in-game video for The Descendant showcases key gameplay and character-driven moments from the first episode. The Descendant is a five-part episodic adventure game series where every choice the player makes can influence the fate of mankind. Download the latest trailer and read on for more info.

View the video HERE: https://youtu.be/KXJI6Vpc7c8

The Descendant combines investigative gameplay, challenging puzzles, and difficult choices with branching dialogue

Set in the near future, climate change has wrecked the planet, and a man-made extinction event has rendered Earth unsustainable for human life.

In order to survive this catastrophic collapse, a coalition formed from the world’s governments invite people to carry out aptitude tests, resulting in only a few thousand ‘descendants of humanity’ hand-picked to survive the apocalypse, cryogenically suspended in underground bunkers known as Arks until the world recovers from the impending nuclear holocaust. When news breaks of what the coalition intend to achieve, people flock to the government’s tests with demand for sanctuary far outweighing the spaces available. Only a few are selected — those with certain undisclosed traits. Why were they chosen? What genetic qualities was the government looking for in these individuals to reseed the planet?

While the descendants sleep through the apocalypse, teams of janitors aren’t quite so lucky – their life underground spent ensuring that each of the Arks, scattered across the world, are carefully maintained so that one day, their precious cargo may wake from its slumber to repopulate the Earth, and build the new world envisioned by the coalition. Centuries pass. Earth becomes habitable again. The descendants are awakened and begin climbing out of storage — except one, Ark-01.

Players awake to explore the dangerous Ark-01 facility, both in the past, immediately after the outbreak of the ecological disaster, and in the present time of the world, seeking any survivors while unraveling a mysterious conspiracy in the process. What do the descendants do next? How do they restart, and “Was humanity worth saving?”

Written by experienced games writer Giles Armstrong (a member of both BAFTA and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, whose credits include Velocity 2X, Here Be Monsters, and the Buzz! series) The Descendant features two intertwining narratives. In the past you’ll play as Mia, an Ark janitor tasked with keeping the precious descendants housed inside Ark-01 alive, while in the present you’ll play as Donnie, one of the investigators trying to rescue any survivors who may still be trapped within the facility.

The first of five episodes of The Descendant will be available on Steam starting March 24. An “Exclusive Season 1 Bundle” is available now from the game’s official website until 48 hours before the first episode releases. This pre-launch bundle includes all five episodes of the game (with episodes 2 -5 to be released over the course of 2016), grants players 48-hours early access to each episode, and features a full game Soundtrack, a Digital Poster and a Digital Art Book.
