To all fans of dark and cozy games: the standalone sequel to Strange Horticulture is finally available to play!
September 17th, 2025, Haarlem – The ravens were an omen. Something is stirring below, and Strange Antiquities has opened its doors. Are you prepared for what awaits you? Iceberg Interactive and Bad Viking are delighted to offer you the role of apprentice Thaumaturge at Undermere’s mysterious antique emporium. Though it might seem cozy at first, you must be wary of the relics you possess, and the people that frequent your shop…
You may be wondering what your role as an apprentice Thaumaturge entails. You must examine and identify the relics that cross your counter by using all of your senses – yes, including inner perception – the esoteric tomes left at your disposal, and your attention to detail.
Strange Antiquities is the standalone sequel to the indie hit title Strange Horticulture, considered one of the best detective games of the decade by PC Gamer. If you loved the last game, we humbly welcome you back to Undermere – expect even more intricacy and depth than its predecessor.
If not, do not fret, as it can be played on its own without prior knowledge of the dark arts. A quote from John and Rob Donkin, the duo behind the Strange series:
“We’re very excited for you to finally be able to settle into your role as apprentice Thaumaturge at Strange Antiquities! We have put a lot of love and attention to detail into this game, from the dark-but-cozy atmosphere and handcrafted occult artifacts, to the carefully designed puzzles and branching narrative. As the nights draw in and the rain beats down outside the window, we’d like to invite you to grab a blanket and a hot drink and put on your occult detective hat. Consult your reference materials on hermetic symbology and Thaumic gemstones, study your shelves full of items carefully, and most importantly, make sure Jupiter the cat is purring happily on the counter.”
Iceberg Interactive and Bad Viking couldn’t be more excited for your arrival in Undermere. Are you ready to experience firsthand the eerie beauty of Strange Antiquities?

In this high-energy shoot ‘em up adventure, players guide fearless heroine Zoe as she battles the Animator, her relentless adversary who sketches dangers directly into her path. Frame by frame, the Animator twists the reel into new threats, and Zoe must fight to break free from their restless imagination to achieve one ultimate goal in mind – returning to her peaceful snooze. Zoe’s world is brought to life through hand-drawn enemies created by none other than The Animator, scribbling them into existence in an effort to take her down.
Watch the release trailer below
“ZOE Begone! is all about embracing imperfection – every jitter of ink, every ragged edge, every chaotic bullet,” stated Graeme Hawkins, Retchy Games. “I hope players lean into that messiness, because for me, that’s where the magic lives.”
“At PM Studios, we love championing creators who dare to be different; Graeme’s vision for ZOE Begone! is exactly that,” says Ami Blaire, CMO, PM Studios. “It’s a perfect reminder of why indies matter, and we’re honored to launch it with Retchy Games.”
Capturing the charm of the 1930s drawn-on-film aesthetic, ZOE Begone! is an indie bullet hell shooter created by solo Scottish developer Graeme Hawkins, aka Retchy Games, where players will dash, shoot, and chain combos through reels of film, fighting dangerous enemies and collecting Apples as currency for powerful upgrades and abilities along the way. The third-wall-breaking Animator uses an array of tools at their disposal to draw Zoe’s enemies, from pens and pencils to knives and even fingers! Tailor your run to suit your playstyle and take down the antagonistic Animator, maybe even bagging a high score along the way.
Key Features:
Striking Hand-Drawn Visuals: Fully hand-drawn animations inspired by the animations of Norman McLaren and the golden age of arcade shooters.
Enemy Chain Scoring System: Keep the action going with high-risk, high-reward chain combos, rewarding aggressive yet strategic gameplay. Global Leaderboards: Compete with players around the globe (as well as yourself) to bag the highest score possible.
Dynamic Upgrades: Choose between spending your Apples to gain new power-ups, weapons and abilities, or save them for game-altering updates later in a run – the choice is yours.
Multiple Modes: Switch between classic arcade runs, time-based challenges, and a high-octane boss rush; tackle the action however you want, and learn to master your favourite playstyle.
Multilayered Difficulty & Combat: Fly or fight on foot across Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulties—each with unique scoring potential and enemy patterns.
Resource-Based Combat System: Manage your Energy to fly, dash, and pound through enemies—or trade it for short-lived, powerful weapons.

Did you know that in the land of Ailur, cats can ride on dogs?
[Red Bank, New Jersey – September 17, 2025] — Astral Clocktower Studios, the studio behind the upcoming feline soulslike Kristala, just released the second installment of their developer diary series! This developer diary dives deep into the many ways you’ll traverse the land of Ailur, how playing as a feline warrior lends itself to unique traversal capabilities, and introduces players to hazards they may face while navigating the haunting land of Ailur.
Playing as a cat naturally comes with enhanced stealthlike abilities, as the developers at Astral Clocktower Studios wanted to replicate the cat’s natural agility and explosiveness. For example, because cats are known to always land on their feet, there is no fall damage in Kristala! However, because there is no fall damage, the developers are constantly challenged to design new threats to block the player’s path. Stealthily prowl across the world of Ailur by running across walls, tiptoeing on tightropes, and gliding between locations using pole swings.
Beginning in 1.0, players will be able to embark on their journey with their trusty canine steed! With three starting steeds of different breed types available, players will be able to gallop across Tandar and explore freely alongside their canid companion.
Learn more about the perilous traps you’ll encounter while you traverse Ailur, from bear traps to ballistas. Many different types of traps and obstacles were implemented following player feedback to amp up the difficulty levels, both in future areas, but also to give players a reason to return to early-game levels. While traps are mainly to be avoided, clever cats can conjure up ways to use traps to their advantage against enemies.
Key Features:
Challenging & Fast-paced Soulslike Combat – Master a precise and punishing combat system inspired by Sekiro and Dark Souls, with light/heavy attacks, perfect parries, well-timed dodges, and brutal aerial attacks and finishers.
Agile Protagonists & Catlike Abilities – Play as a feline warrior from one of six clans, each master of a distinct magic specialty and lore-rich culture. These catlike characters allow for interesting traversal and stealth mechanics, which players can enhance further via the Feline Skill tree.
Purr-sonalize your Cat – Create your feline warrior by choosing fur color, fur length, your clan, and your starting class. All of these choices will factor into building your unique playstyle. The paw-sibilities are endless!
Comprehensive Magic System – Each clan specializes in an ancient/elemental magic, sourced by the Sacred Six Kristals. Unlock and level powerful spells and spell perks for each clan on a comprehensive, branching magic tree to customize your playstyle.
Atmospheric, Story-Driven Worldbuilding – Immerse yourself in the mystical realm of Ailur, where ancient prophecies, cursed creatures, and lost civilizations weave a dark and emotional narrative.
Ready to pounce into the grimdark world of Kristala? Wishlist the game and play the free demo now on Epic Games Store and Steam, or dive deeper with the Early Access version—available for purchase today.
