In what is (I hope) a series I’ll continue all the way to the bitter end – complete control of Europe – I bring you, dear readers, the story of Prussia, and it’s story under the rule of an Imperial Psychopath. For those not in the know, Napoleon (and every Total War game since) features an achievement for declaring war on every faction in the first turn, never negotiating a peace treaty, and still going on to win. Not wanting to make life easy for myself, I’m playing with both battle and campaign difficulties set to Hard, and as Prussia. Yes, you read me right: Prussia. Situated in central Europe, literally surrounded by soon-to-be-enemies. No handy geographical barriers to protect my cities – just bayonets and bravery. The story will follow two of my generals, who had the most interesting things happen to them during the campaign (of which I’m halfway through at time of writing). Gebhard von Blucher and Friedrich Ludwig, Prince of Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen. Both were great generals of the time, and while I took liberties with their personalities, it’s all for the greater good of journalistic integrity. I promise.
You can find our review of Sega’s Napoleon Total War here. Now on with the show!
January 1805 Friedrich
It is a dark morning indeed. King Frederick has doomed us all with his insanity. I know it is treason to speak of ones king like this, but there can be no rational reasoning for what he has done. The fool. He has declared war on the world. Not just the French, who continue to loom menacingly under Napoleon. Not just the Ottomans to the south, and not just one of the many small nations holding lands that are rightfully ours. Everyone. Allies, friends, and less than friends. He has turned the entire world against us. The rich ‘nobles’ of his court have convinced him to follow a path that leads only to suicide. Their hunger for money will be their undoing. This morning I received word that at a diplomat’s ball last night he had every foreign ambassador in the capital executed, and their heads sent back to their respective heads of state.
The man is a psychopath.
I fear for the future of Prussia. I fear for my life. I fear for my men’s lives.
I must see to them. Ensure they are adequately prepared to march into this storm with heads held high, shouting defiance to the last breath.
Blucher
War! At long last Prussia will take it’s rightful place as master of the world. The Reich will know no bounds! This very morning I received word from the capital that our glorious King has thrown caution to the wind and announced to the world his desire for domination. Perhaps he was a little hasty to make his ambition known to every nation at once, but who am I to question his will? The world will be ours. Honour and glory go to those who have the strength to take them.
I now await my orders. I don’t know what mad genius plan my liege has crafted, but I can only assume it will be revealed soon. We will no doubt have to move quickly. I must begin drilling my men immediately.
BLAST AWAY ENEMIES IN THE NAME OF LOVE AND HATS IN I WANT TO BE HUMAN COMING APRIL 15
Still A Better Love Story Than That Other Vampire Saga
Los Angeles, California – April 8, 2016 – Rising Star Games, a video game publisher renowned for bringing unique and diverse games to players everywhere, announced today that the wonderfully bizarre I Want To Be Human will be launching on PC on April 15. Oozing from the leaking brain goop of Sinclair Strange, I Want To Be Human follows a young girl, recently turned into a vampire, who travels to hell and back to rescue her lover boy, who was also turned into a hat by the same nefarious forces. Not to worry, as the heroine is not some barmaid living amongst fanged creatures in a small Louisiana town; gamers will discover the shotgun splatting skills of the vengeful vamp, slaughtering all sorts of enemies through this blood-soaked monochromatic pandemonium.
Unfortunately, splatty bloodstains are not machine washable in I Want To Be Human.
I Want To Be Human is packed with crazy platform blasting action, tongue-in-cheek humor, and lashings of exploding body parts. The game invites the brave and slightly warped to shoot through five worlds of blood-soaked black and white mayhem, as they battle through a violent platforming tale of vampire love, betrayal and endless destruction, all drenched in pixelated gore! Not only is the game rife with vivid grisly artwork, it also features an edgy electropunk soundtrack featuring artist Jimmy Urine.
I Want To Be Human will be available April 15 on Steam and selected digital retailers for $14.99. For more information on I Want To Be Human, please visit the officialwebsite. A little over a year ago a crossover between the Neptunia series and Sega Hard Girls was announced for Japan and now Idea Factory International has announced that that game will be released in the West under the name Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls.
The title will be released for the PlayStation Vita sometime this fall in North America and Europe where it will be available both physically and digitally. For those unfamiliar with the game, Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls is an RPG that places IF in the primary role as Neptune ends up being transformed into a motorcycle.
Joined by the Sega Hard Girls, who are characters created from the Sega consoles such as Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, and Mega Drive, IF must recover the lost history of the Grand Library. A brief summary of the game’s story as well as screenshots and key art that is slightly altered between North America and Europe for the game can be found below:
Our story begins in the mysterious halls of an ancient library…The Grand Library holds the history of the world within its shelves. Legend says that if one was to tamper with the books kept there, the past itself could be completely rewritten… A daring adventurer known as IF discovered the location of this revered library and finally crossed its threshold. Little did she know, a disaster of historical proportions was about to occur before her very eyes. Books began to vanish from the library’s shelves; the history of the world was disappearing before her and the reasons for this occurrence were shrouded in mystery.
IF sets out on a journey across time to uncover the truth! Will she be able to work together with both the Sega Hard Girls and Goddesses to recover the lost history? Will they really be able to save the world?
