Original ‘Corpse Party’ Receives Nintendo 3DS Remaster and Limited ‘Back to School Edition’ Physical Release Featuring Exclusive Features and Story Content; Original Windows PC Release to Launch in April for the First Time Outside of Japan with Exclusive Bonus Chapter

Torrance, Calif.—April 14, 2016—XSEED Games, the independent-minded console publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today revealed its plans to release brand new versions of the much-lauded horror adventure, Corpse Party, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems and Windows PC, both with exclusive content never before seen outside of Japan. Originally developed as an independent title by Team GrisGris, and previously released by XSEED Games for the PSP, Corpse Party is a chilling visual novel-style experience that takes players on a terrifying journey where each step could be their last.

This summer, Corpse Party will receive a limited ‘Back to School Edition’ physical release for Nintendo 3DS priced at $49.99, which will include high-quality miniature figurines of characters Naomi Nakashima and Seiko Shinohara, as well as a soundtrack CD containing nearly 80 minutes of music from the game not previously featured on the ‘Songs of the Dead’ compilation, including three tracks exclusive to this Nintendo 3DS version. In addition to the limited ‘Back to School Edition’ physical release, Corpse Party will also see a digital release in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS for $29.99. Remastered from the 2011 PSP game, the Nintendo 3DS rendition of Corpse Party will feature redrawn, high-resolution character sprites, newly arranged music tracks, and 3D art stills, as well as four new Extra Chapters exclusive to this version that provide insight into lesser-shown characters and plot elements previously left unexplained. This title has been rated “M for Mature” by the ESRB.

On April 25, Corpse Party will receive a digital release on Windows PC for Steam, GOG.com, and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle for $14.99. Localized directly from the original independent PC version, which was previously never released outside of Japan, the worldwide Windows PC release of Corpse Party will feature all the original art and voice-acting, as well as a bevy of new features exclusive to this version. Among other inclusions, such as multiple endings and scenes that differ from the PSP and upcoming Nintendo 3DS releases, this version boasts four bonus chapters on top of the game’s five main story chapters, one of which is a PC-exclusive retelling of the “Tooth” story from Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, recreated with added content in classic Corpse Party adventure style. Players seeking to complete every ending will find that this version also contains a speedy fast-forward function for seamless replayability. The Windows PC version of Corpse Party is not rated by the ESRB.

To commemorate the announcement of these two titles, XSEED Games has unveiled two brand new Corpse Party trailers—one for the Nintendo 3DS remaster, and one for the Windows PC version.

About Corpse Party

In Corpse Party, players take control of a group of Japanese high school students who inadvertently engage in a pagan ritual and find themselves inexplicably transported into a whole other space: an inescapable echo of a long-since demolished school building where a series of gruesome murders once took place. They must now evade the grasp of the tortured souls who roam the halls of the doomed Heavenly Host Elementary School, lest they join the ranks of the dead themselves.

Corpse Party is presented using crisp 2D sprite graphics in a classic 16-bit style, brought to life with gruesome and horribly detailed hand-drawn anime-style portraits and art stills featuring vividly descriptive text, and binaural 3D audio in the Nintendo 3DS iteration, players’ minds are prone to wander, providing a uniquely engrossing horror experience. Put on a pair of headphones and Corpse Party becomes even more terrifying, with creepy background noises that bring the terror of the game’s environment directly to players’ ears.

As players advance through Corpse Party, they will strive to avoid the game’s more than 20 “wrong ends,” in which tragedy takes over and one or more characters suffer a grim demise. Whether buried alive, forced to swallow scissors or cannibalized by a friend, wrong ends are often as disturbing as they are morbidly intriguing. To advance through the game, players must reach the one true ending in each of the game’s five chapters to unlock the next leg of the journey. The game features several “true” endings depending on how many characters survive the journey through the haunted school – and at Heavenly Host Elementary, survival is no easy task.

War Dragons Enters Second Phase of Global Growth with Android Launch and National TV Campaign

SAN FRANCISCO – April 14, 2016 – Pocket Gems is announcing today that its top-grossing mobile game War Dragons is now available on Android and is launching a national TV commercial with renowned animator J.J. Sedelmaier (Beavis and Butt-head, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Saturday TV Funhouse on Saturday Night Live). These things combined mark the start of War Dragons’ second phase of growth, which will significantly increase the game’s global player base.

War Dragons has been steadily climbing Apple’s top-grossing charts since launching last April. The game has also built an incredible community in its first year with more than 183 million battles fought and 13 million dragons bred. With the Android launch, War Dragons will have cross-platform capabilities, allowing players to form alliances or attack anyone, whether they’re on iOS or Android.

“War Dragons’ first year was all about refining the game to make it as kickass as possible. We’ve drastically improved everything from the art to the multiplayer components, and it really shows,” said Harlan Crystal, Pocket Gems’ founder and product lead on War Dragons. “As we enter our next phase of growth, we wanted something different for our first big TV spot and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”

The commercial, titled Dragon Days, takes viewers back to a simpler time when dragons and humans co-existed peacefully… and then burns it all to the ground. The tongue-in-cheek spot seamlessly contrasts the cheesy morning cartoon style of the ‘90s with War Dragons’ rich 3D graphics. Renowned animator, J.J. Sedelmaier, was chosen as the project’s creative director due to his sharp sense of humor and visionary comedic work. The commercial will begin airing nationally this month.

“Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to contrast the children’s programming we all grew up watching with the intensity of the gaming realm?! On top of that, this was a wonderful chance to combine two animation techniques that have been fighting each other for decades anyway,” said Sedelmaier.

The creative agency, Wexley School for Girls, brought its considerable talent to the commercial with Ian Cohen serving as chief creative director. For the animation and production duties, acclaimed creative studio Fellow LA was brought onto the project. Tying it all together thematically, the commercial’s distinctive song was penned by GRAMMY Award winners Adam Schlesinger and Steven Gold.

Colourful shooting game for all ages asks fans to decide who they prefer: SpongeBob or Patrick?

14th April, 2016 – Nintendo and Nickelodeon are partnering for a special SpongeBob SquarePants Splatfest event in the colourful shooting game Splatoon for Wii U. On Sunday April 24* in Australia and New Zealand, players will battle it out to decide who’s Bikini Bottom’s more popular resident: SpongeBob or Patrick, from Nickelodeon’s hugely popular animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants!

The rules of Splatoon are simple: two teams of four players battle to claim turf by covering it with ink in their colour. Players control characters known as Inklings, human-like creatures that can change into squid form to swim through their team’s ink faster, or manoeuvre up walls to access hard-to-reach areas in battle. Outside of these Turf Wars, the city of Inkopolis is home to all manner of cool crustaceans, funky fish and other oceanic individuals, making Splatoon and SpongeBob SquarePants a match made in H2O heaven.

During the regular events called “Splatfests”, players vote on important topics like whether pineapple on pizza is delicious or disgusting, then team up with like-minded players to battle the opposing school of thought. In a first for Spatfests, players in Australia, New Zealand and Europe will play together with North American players as Team SpongeBob and Team Patrick compete for under-the-sea supremacy, with the results from both territories producing one final outcome to settle the debate once and for all. After voting opens Saturday April 16 in Australia and New Zealand, Inklings can show their allegiance by wearing a special Splatfest Tee of either SpongeBob or Patrick until the end of the event.

This Splatfest is also the perfect opportunity for players to try out eight new weapon combinations, called “Sheldon’s Picks”, which were added in a recent free software update. Inklings enter battle with a main, sub, and special weapon, and new sets offer fresh strategic options and ways to play.

As Splatoon gears up for its 1-year anniversary in May, it recently passed a major milestone of over 4 million copies sold worldwide, in addition to racking up multiple high-profile awards and nominations.

SpongeBob SquarePants has emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon since first premiering on Nickelodeon in July 1999. The series has been the most-watched animated program for more than 14 consecutive years and is seen in over 185 countries and translated in more than 50 languages. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

It’s the Bikini Bottom battle for the ages on Sunday April 24 in Australia and New Zealand as Team SpongeBob SquarePants battles Team Patrick in the next Splatfest for Splatoon, only on Wii U.

Similarly, some necessary materials can only be harvested in specific times and weather conditions. Atelier Sophie: the Alchemist of the Mysterious Book also introduces a fatigue-based Life Point system, which can weaken attacks when a character has spent too long adventuring, gathering materials, and/or fighting without resting (returning to the atelier). These two new elements add to the challenging nature of this beautiful RPG and are indicative of the reimagined gameplay system of the Atelier universe!

Koei Tecmo released a brand new trailer showcasing these exciting new features, as well as a gameplay video further expanding on the re-vamped Atelier battle system.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book offers one of two different bonus DLC packs to players who pre-order the game from select retailers. Those who order through Amazon will receive an in-game background music pack, as well as two delightful Atelier Sophie themes for their PlayStation 4. SYDNEY (14th April 2016) –  Ahead of the launch of STAR OCEAN®: INTEGRITY AND FAITHLESSNESS™ on the 1st July, Square Enix Ltd., today released a brand new trailer for the title which showcases the game’s battle system and characters in more depth. The trailer gives fans a further glimpse at STAR OCEAN: Integrity and Faithlessness’ seamless real-time combat and transitions from fighting to exploring.

STAR OCEAN: Integrity and Faithlessness will be released in Europe and PAL territories on 1st July 2016 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. The game will be available with English and French in-game text only. A Limited Edition which features a steelbook™ case and in-game DLC and much more will also be available in limited quantities at selected retailers.

Fear Effect Sedna Kickstarter Campaign Launches

The classic PlayStation action adventure series Fear Effect is finally getting a long awaited revival with a little help from the Square Enix Collective project and French indie developers Sushee. Fear Effect Sedna will be a real-time tactical action game starring Hana, Rain, Deke, and Glas from the previous titles. The game uses an isometric view and will support up to five player characters at a time.

“We first announced our intention to open up dormant Western IP right at the start of Collective’s life back in 2013,” explained Phil Elliott, creator and project lead for Square Enix Collective. “We felt that last year was the right time to go ahead with that, and Sushee – although busy with the development of Goetia at the time – was quick to register a keen interest in the idea. Earlier this year, with Goetia nearing completion, Sushee revisited the idea and put together a great pitch that combined a real love of the original games with a new take and appropriate budget – so we’re excited to see how the community will respond, and we’ll watch closely to see whether opening up our older IP for pitches is something we should do more of.”

Sushee has already made an investment to get the game off the ground with Square Enix providing access to the Fear Effect IP and technical and production support for the game. Now Sushee is looking for €100,000 to expand their small team of nine to finish the game. The Kickstarter campaign wraps up on May 13 and the game is expected to launch in May 2017 on Mac and Windows. A limited number of digital pre-order copies are available for €15, with the price going up to €18 once 2000 pre-orders are sold.
