Himawari – The Sunflower Announced for Release on December 9

MangaGamer has announced that they now know when they plan on releasing Himawari – The Sunflower on their website for PC users and as such, have also opened up pre-orders for the game. This all-ages visual novel will be released on December 9th and while it will cost $34.95 when it is released, those who pre-order it before then will receive a 15% discount and be able to obtain the title for $29.70. This title which was given a PSP port back in 2010, uses the PSP version as a base to help provide players with all new character artwork in an effort to elevate the sci-fi tale to new heights.

For those unaware of what Himawari – The Sunflower is about, the story follows Hinata Youichi, the sole survivor of a spaceplane crash that occurred two years prior. Despite losing both his family and all memories to the accident, he continues to lead a peaceful life surrounded by his loyal friends. One fateful night, Youichi stumbles upon a crash-landed UFO, as well as the amnesiac young girl boarding it––her name: Aries. Unable to abandon her, Youichi decides to take the girl in, and so the two begin living together under the same roof…

Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force PC Release Planned for Early 2017

As many would guess, since nearly all of Idea Factory International’s titles have been given the same treatment lately, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force has been announced for release on PC. This enhanced PlayStation 4 title will be released on PC through Steam sometime in early 2017 and this PC release will feature both English and Japanese text and voice options though an interesting fact about this release, it will be the first worldwide PC release from the company.

For those who haven’t heard of the game, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force is set in a world where a war once waged between a Vile God and the Goddess and during their final battles they created special weapons that were imbued with powers from contained fairies and though each god was sealed away many of these weapons remained. The weapons that the Goddess and the Vile God left were called Furies, and the warriors who used them were called Fencers. Rumors arose that the Furies were so powerful, whoever collected them all would be granted one wish.

As a result, Fencers fought each other endlessly to obtain them.By chance, a young man named Fang happened to unwittingly become a Fencer, and saved a girl named Tiara. And she, too, was a Fencer. From that day forward, Fang found himself an important part of the battle between the Goddess and the Vile God.

Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds Heads West in Spring 2017

Fans of the Hakuoki series will be happy to hear that the franchise still has some life in the West, though this case it happens to be in the form of a remaster. Idea Factory International has announced plans to localize and release Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds in North America and Europe sometime in Spring 2017 for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV.

Featuring the original Japanese dub with English subtitles, this remastered telling of the beloved visual novel Hakuoki series focuses on the story set in Kyoto. The young Chizuru, determined to find her father, will romance the famous samurai of Shinsengumi through a series of engaging stories and dramatic events. Never-before-seen episodes and character routes have been added to the original version of the game, introducing more romanceable targets, new characters, and plenty of new paths to seek for yourself.

Mary Skelter: Nightmares Announced for Western Release

The title known as Kamigokuto: Mary Skelter in Japan has been announced for release in the West by Idea Factory International. In the West this PS Vita game will be released as Mary Skelter: Nightmares and will arrive in North America and Europe sometime in summer 2017.

Mary Skelter: Nightmares is a dungeon crawling RPG where a nightmare monster stalks the player and they must either stand their ground or use traps to slow down the insatiable monsters and escape to fight another day. With a turn based battle system and allies that can power up with blood transformations players must try to solve the dungeons’ mysteries and satisfy the prison’s desires in an effort to make it out alive.

Black Rose Valkyrie Announced for Western Release in Spring 2017

Idea Factory International has announced that they are planning on bringing Black Rose Valkyrie, which will now be called Dark Rose Valkyrie, to the West in Spring 2017. The company has already announced that when released in the West Dark Rose Valkyrie will feature both the original Japanese dub as well as a freshly recorded English dub.

This title is an RPG for the PlayStation 4 and while we have covered it in the past, you can check out a few details directly from the company as well as a handful of screenshots and an announcement trailer below.

This Spring 2017, defend humanity from the Chimera Virus as the new leader of Japan’s covert military agency (ACID) in Dark Rose Valkyrie! Culina: Hands in the Kitchen Released on Steam

A new PC visual novel, developed by Lakeview Interactive, has been released on Steam and it may offer something a bit different for fans of the genre. The title is called Culina: Hands in the Kitchen and while it might be a visual novel it also implements various elements of strategy as players will need to do more than simply interact with other characters, they will need to manage the restaurant by purchasing ingredients, putting together recipes, and more.

You can check out a trailer for the title as well as read more about the game on the Steam page. Currently Culina: Hands in the Kitchen is being sold at a 15% discount from $19.99 making it available for $16.99 until November 18th. It is also worth noting that the developer is also aiming to have the title released on the Xbox One sometime in the future but no release date has been set.

Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live 2nd Stage Released in the West

Sega has released the “2nd Stage” add-on for Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live in the West just a bit after it was released in Japan. This extra piece of DLC adds on six new tracks as well as a special encore performance to the game. In an interesting fashion, this 2nd stage does not require the 1st stage to play though it is still priced at $14.99 so players do have an option to simply pick up this version if they don’t like the songs in the first collection. The “3rd Stage” for Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live will be released in Japan and in the West on December 15th.

Short The Last Guardian ‘Action’ Trailer Released

The Last Guardian has been years in the making and that wait is coming to an end in less than a month. As such Sony has released a new trailer for the game that is being described by the company as the “action” trailer as it highlights a few small moments that players will be experiencing in the larger game.

You can check out the short trailer for The Last Guardian below and keep an eye out for the game when it is finally released on the PlayStation 4 on December 6th in North America and Japan and December 7th in Europe.

Details Released for New Key Characters in Steins;Gate 0

With Steins;Gate 0 set to be released at the end of the month, PQube has released some new details about new key characters that will be introduced in this game. The company describes all of these characters as being “integral to the survival of humanity and the restoration of time as we know it.”

‘Amadeus’

Not ‘the’ Kurisu, ‘a’ Kurisu. This is the Kurisu of Amadeus, all her thoughts and memories in an AI program that Okabe can interact with.

Maho Hiyajo

A senior at the same university that Kurisu attended in the United States – and an old friend. She looks very young and is often mistaken as a child, despite being in her twenties. She works for Alexis Leskinen and visits Japan with him.

Alexis Leskinen

University professor and mentor of Makise Kurisu and an expert in research in brain function. He brings his assistant Maho to Japan to give lectures on the Amadeus System.

Yuki Amane

A good friend of Mayuri and a character who’s predestined to be involved with one of the original cast. She’s a big fan of cosplay.

Kagari Shiina

Her real parents and real name are unknown. She is the adopted daughter of Mayuri – who takes her under her wing after meeting her through her work at an orphanage.

Judy Reyes

Psychology Research Institute professor and a colleague of Leskinen. She has a fairly blunt, straight talking personality.

Katsumi Nakase

Sporty and athletic, she does have a more girly side through her persona ‘Fubuki’ – a fellow cosplayer and friend of Mayuri.

Kaede Kurushima

The last of Mayuri’s cosplaying friends and she makes costumes for Mayuri.

Steins;Gate 0 is currently set to be released on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in North America on November 29th and in Europe on November 25th where the game will be available both physically and digitally for both platforms.

SG/ZH School Girl/Zombie Hunter Clothing Decoy and Special Attacks Detailed

A few new details for D3 Publisher’s upcoming zombie game SG/ZH School Girl/Zombie Hunter have been released alongside a new batch of screenshots for the PlayStation 4 title. The focus this time around is on how players will able to use their clothes as decoys since the zombies in the game appear to be attracted to them. This means that a girl can remove her clothes during battle and throw them in an effort to draw the zombies away from them and escape. If any character takes enough damage their clothing will be slowly destroyed so sometimes it is worth the risk, though with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor, this distraction technique only works on male zombies.

The company also detailed that since each of the playable characters belonged to a different school club, that they all have special attacks that will help save them imminent death though these special moves do reduce a player’s stamina. These clubs include the kendo club, long sword club, softball club, karate club, and soccer club. You can check out all of the screenshots showing off some of these techniques and distractions below while the game itself is set to be released in Japan on January 12th for the PlayStation 4.
