New Naruto PS4, Xbox One, PC Game Announced, Shinobi Strikers

The Naruto Storm series really does appear to be done and dusted with Bandai Namco recently announcing an all new game based on Naruto and Boruto. Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikers is not being developed by Cyber Connect 2, instead being developed by seemingly new studio Soleil who are a subsidiary of Valhalla Game Studios. Valhalla are known only for developing the Wii U exclusive Devil’s Third. Given that knowledge one would be forgiven for being worried about the project but the brief gameplay trailer shown here shows a lot of promise.

The games fact sheet laughably lists Shinobi Strikers genre as Acrobatic Ninja Battle Action. The closest comparison I can muster from the short trailer is that it looks like a flightless version of the Dragon Ball Tenkaichi games. Players control their favourite Naruto and Boruto characters in 3D environments, hopping from the floor to the walls and off again with a bunch of combos and special moves. The game also adapts a new graphical style, slightly less cel shaded than the Storm games with a look that seems to mimic the art seen on manga front covers.

Team battles are a big part of the game and players can have for on four vs matches with eight players fighting simultaneously. The fact sheet says you can play co-op with your friends to become the best ninjas online. Eight players on screen at once definitely sounds amazing but I hope the servers can handle it. The information released made no mention of any single player campaign but it is possible that news will come in the future. It has been confirmed the game will feature both English and Japanese voices.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker will release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. No release date has been given but I think we can assume a November 2017 release is likely. Alongside the announcement of this all new game, Bandai Namco also announced they are releasing two remastered trilogy collections of the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Naruto Storm Trilogy will include all numbered entries from the PS3 and Xbox 360 era with all the DLC and bonus content included while Naruto Storm Legacy will include all of that plus Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 and it’s recent Road to Boruto expansion.

11 bit studios Announces Frostpunk as Next Title

Indie devs 11 bit studios (This War of Mine) announced their next project today with some concept art and a brand new trailer. The new game is called Frostpunk and is set in the harsh, endless winter. Earth has been devastated and only small pockets of civilization barely cling onto life. Cities rely on steam-based technology and human tenacity to stay warm.

It isn’t entirely clear what type of game Frostpunk will be, but the early descriptions of the game hint to a city/society management title. Frostpunk is scheduled to launch later this year in 2017. Information is a bit sparse at the moment, but 11 bit studios will be releasing more info at the official site soon.

Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition Release Date Announced

Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition Release Date Announced

Build your Viking settlement and claim your place in Valhalla on 28th April 2017

Sydney, 11th April 2017 – Kalypso Media is excited to announce that it is bringing Daedelic Entertainment’s strategy title Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition to PlayStation®4 and Xbox One on 28th April 2017 across the UK and Export territories. Brought to you by the brains behind classic strategy titles such as The Settlers II and CulturesValhalla Hills – Definitive Edition tasks gamers with guiding a group of Viking warriors to their rightful resting place in Valhalla by helping them survive, build and fight their way to glory. This new console version release also includes the official DLC – ‘Sand of the Damned’ and ‘Fire Mountains’ – as well as a new exclusive map type – ‘The Dwarf Cave’.

About Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition
In Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition, you are Leko – youngest son of Odin, exiled to Midgard by your father for failing to meet his expectations. More interested in building villages than pillaging them, you now find yourself far from home with a disgruntled band of recently-deceased muscleheads. Odin has turned his back on his people, and it’s your fault. There’s only one thing for it – you’ll have to guide your new-found companions to heavenly glory the only way you know how.

Now, you must lead your band of outcast Viking warriors through the varied landscapes of Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition, where a magical portal awaits to take you to your rightful place in the realm of the gods. But the journey is a hazardous one, and the Vikings will need to do one thing first…survive!

To do that, you’ll have to take good care of your Vikings by putting your building and management skills to the ultimate test. Your band of heroes may be tough but you’ll still need to protect, equip and feed them as well as help them to fend off ghostly residents and wild beasts. Control of the Vikings is indirect – these bearded citizens have minds of their own, so you will influence their actions with general commands rather than controlling any one specific unit at a time. Guide your mighty followers into gathering food, wood and other resources, all while defending their fledgling camp.

Featuring crisp, bold and beautiful 3D graphics (powered by Unreal Engine 4) with full day and night cycles, Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition sees you playing across randomly-generated maps in varying mountain terrains, as you master a balanced economy system to ensure endless gameplay challenges and variety.

Features of Valhalla Hills – Definitive Edition:

  • Build and manage a thriving Viking settlement with over 35 buildings
  • Conquer massive mountainside landscapes and face dangerous foes like Ice Giants, Lava Crawler or Mummies.
  • Play on snow-covered slopes, barren sand dunes, fiery volcanos or in gloomy caves.
  • The console versions include the DLC ‘Sand of the Damned’ and ‘Fire Mountains’, as well as a new exclusive map type – ‘The Dwarf Cave’.
  • Randomly generated maps, day and night cycles and a well-balanced economic system provide endless challenges and variety.

Legend of Grimrock Devs Reveal a New IP Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest

Indie game developer Ctrl Alt Ninja Ltd., a game studio newly founded by the co-creators of the critically acclaimed Legend of Grimrock games, announced today their first game Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest. Druidstone is a fantasy roleplaying game with a procedurally generated world, tactical turn-based combat and roguelike elements.

In Druidstone, you take the role of a druid who has just been reincarnated. Who are you? How did you die? These questions lead you to an adventure in a vast procedurally generated forest where you can explore ancient haunted ruins, battle evil monsters with spells and swords, and meet interesting friends and foes. Battles are fought on a two-dimensional grid using a tactical, turn-based battle system. The key to surviving in this dangerous world is using your limited resources wisely. You start the game barehanded, only clad in a simple cloak but as you discover the secrets of the Menhir Forest you will get more powerful and learn new abilities and battle tactics. At the heart of Druidstone is a gripping story which is told through the encounters and characters you will meet.

“We’re thrilled that we can finally show the world what we’ve been working on for a while now. We invite people to follow our journey about making the game by visiting the Druidstone dev blog” says Juho Salila, the co-founder of Ctrl Alt Ninja. For inspiration the Ctrl Alt Ninja team has turned to old school games as Petri Häkkinen, the co-founder of the studio explains “Most modern computer RPGs today have dropped the grid and have a semi-realtime battle system, which we think reduces the tactical aspect of combat. Instead, we harken back to golden days of RPGs with grids and turn-based combat.”

The release date of Druidstone has not been set yet. Additional platforms are possible later but right now the team is 100% focused on creating the game for the PC.

To keep in touch with the progress on the game, make sure to follow the devs on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

World of Tanks Team Up with Bongfish to Create New Game Mode

World of Tanks Team Up with Bongfish to Create New Game Mode

An all-new battle arena hits the game’s test server bringing bigger maps, larger teams, and intense action

April 11, 2017 — Wargaming today revealed its partnership with Austrian developer Bongfish, who brought over a decade of experience working with well-known publishers to bear on a new game mode for World of Tanks, dubbed Frontline. From today, players can put the new mode through its paces in the World of Tanks test server, Sandbox.

What can players expect from Frontline? Epic 30v30 tank clashes across vast 9 km2 battlefields, with one team pushing the assault while the other defends their territory. Over several rounds, the action spreads deeper behind defensive lines until a winner is declared.

“Players have been asking us for larger teams, bigger maps, and new combat setups for some time,” said Milos Jerabek, World of Tanks Development Director. “Wargaming’s distributed development approach made this a reality and we partnered with Bongfish to create the new mode—all while the in-house team for World of Tanks works on the game’s key mechanics. Bongfish has a ton of expertise to make it happen under our guidance. There’s true chemistry between the both of us, and we look forward to revealing what this collaboration brings to players.”

“We’ve been working on Frontline for a while now, and are excited to finally show it to the world,” said Michael Putz, Bongfish Founder and CEO. “We’re passionate about authentic gameplay and vast open spaces, and so are World of Tanks developers. By working with them, we can channel this passion to create something one of a kind for tankers to enjoy.”

Sandbox has been an integral component in improving the game as well as fostering a conversation between the players. Frontline marks the third time the game tests the waters in Sandbox to ensure World of Tanks continues going from strength to strength.
