NEW PUBLISHING RANGE EXPANDS THE UNIVERSE OF ASSASSIN’S CREED® ORIGINS

NEW PUBLISHING RANGE EXPANDS THE UNIVERSE OF ASSASSIN’S CREED® ORIGINS

Ubisoft® has announced the publishing lineup for Assassin’s Creed® Origins, including a novel, a comic miniseries, an art book and an official guide, all of which will be published worldwide starting this fall. These pieces will allow fans to step further into the world of Assassin’s Creed® Origins and deepen their knowledge of the game and lore.

Ubisoft’s broadening publishing collection aspires to provide fans with a wide variety of exclusive insights into our many worlds. The vast universe of Assassin’s Creed® Origins will be expanded beyond the game to explore: Bayek’s youth, the first years of the Assassins Order, the artwork behind the beautiful and mysterious landscapes of Ancient Egypt, and an official guide for hardcore players.

Assassin’s Creed® Origins Desert Oath, a novel published by Ubisoft & Penguin Books and written by Oliver Bowden in collaboration with the development team, is a prequel happening before the story of the game. It portrays a young Bayek following his father’s footsteps, leaving the peace of his hometown, Siwa, in search of answers. Follow Bayek through a journey that will take him along the Nile and across a country in turmoil as he faces the dangers and mysteries of the Medjay’s path.

A miniseries of four official Assassin’s Creed® Origins Comics written by Anne Toole and published by Titan Comics will explore the first years of the Assassins’ Order, crossing over to new territories and introducing new characters as well as notable historical figures.

The Art of Assassin’s Creed® Origins, an art book published by Titan Books, will transport readers back into Ancient Egypt, one of the most mysterious places in history. Readers will explore the world of Assassin’s Creed® Origins as they discover its secrets and forgotten myths and learn more about the characters, enemies, weapons and majestic landscapes of the game through a vast collection of art, including: concept sketches, city plans, character studies, and fully rendered paintings along with comments and notes from the artists and developers.

The Complete Official Guide, a guidebook published by PRIMA Games, is an indispensable tool for dedicated players. The guide contains a general weapons and equipment guide and a 100% completion walkthrough along with detailed maps flagged with all locations, collectibles and targets. Owners of the Complete Official Guide will also have exclusive access to a mobile-friendly e-guide version optimized for a second-screen experience.

Assassin’s Creed Origins will be released worldwide on October 27, 2017 for the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X when it launches on November 7, PlayStation®4 Pro computer entertainment system, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.

WWE 2K18 FEATURES REVEALED

WWE 2K18 FEATURES REVEALED

It’s finally time for us to start sharing our plans for WWE 2K18 with everyone! Similar to recent years, we won’t be providing full details today, but we are ready to share some insight into several of the exciting new features and improvements we are making for WWE 2K18.

As our development progresses this summer and into the fall, there will be more to share as we approach the game’s release in October. In addition, our team is excited to announce the 2KDev Spotlight Series, starting next Thursday, July 13 on wwe.2k.com, that will provide ongoing information updates and a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a WWE 2K game.

Be Like No One

The WWE 2K franchise has enabled users to “Be Like No One” through its amazing Creation Suite for a long time, and this year is no different. The Creation Suite gets even deeper with improvements to Create-a-Superstar, Create-an-Arena and Create-a-Video. The Highlight Replay System now enables users to save game replays to make into future videos and adds a free-roaming camera for further creative and editing control. In addition, we are also bringing creativity to matches with a new Create-a-Match feature. This addition lets players create a custom set of rules for a match, save them and use them in either Play Now or WWE Universe.

WWE 2K18 also delivers a new MyPLAYER experience that introduces fighting styles and a brand new upgrade and progression system. Players can choose from eight fighting styles to help define their MyPLAYER experience. Each fighting style comes with its strengths and weaknesses, so the choice of style matters. No one style can be a master of all! Are you going to be a High Flyer, a Brawler or maybe a Technician? The choice is yours.

With a compelling new MyPLAYER system, we also wanted something unique and different for your MyPLAYER to do in WWE 2K18. Thus, a brand new MyCAREER experience awaits, incorporating a new story and a free-roaming backstage area that allow your MyPLAYER to interact with other WWE Superstars and help direct the narrative. Did you take offense to someone? Are you going to go it alone?  Are you going to align with the General Managers or are you going to let your in-ring prowess speak for itself? The new MyPLAYER experience provides many choices in for how players experience their unfolding stories.

Finally, WWE 2K18 is delivering an all-new Road to Glory Mode that lets players compete against others, using their MyPLAYER characters, in a quest to qualify for WWE pay-per-view events. There is a lot more to share about the new Road to Glory Mode in the coming months, but we are really excited to see everyone bring their MyPLAYER creations to this new level of competition.

Realism

WWE 2K18 will be the most realistic WWE game to date in the franchise. This year, we developed an entirely new graphics engine that delivers spectacular new lighting, more realistic skin and new camera effects. The WWE Superstars, crowds and arenas have never looked better. Since words don’t do visuals justice, we are excited to show you how amazing WWE 2K18 looks in the near future.

Along with the great visuals, WWE 2K18 introduces a new commentary team. With the trio of Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves at the commentary table, a WWE 2K game has never sounded better. We also greatly improved crowd sounds, including the addition of authentic crowd chants, to bring the entire WWE experience to life. In short, WWE 2K18 has never been closer to what our fans see every week on WWE television and at live events.

Most Comprehensive WWE Game to Date

WWE 2K18 continues improving and refining the simulation gameplay experience that sits at the core of the franchise. For WWE 2K18, we are bringing new mayhem and carnage in the form of eight-person matches, including Ladder matches, the Royal Rumble, Eight-Person Tags and even a Battle Royal. Players can now experience the chaos of eight WWE Superstars all vying for the same goal!

Speaking of Royal Rumble matches, we also revamped these by implementing new elimination mechanics, a quick elimination system, new match-specific finishers and new elimination sequences. With eight WWE Superstars in the ring, combined with the new mechanics, the Royal Rumble is better than ever.

WWE 2K18 also sees the addition of a new carry system, which we’ll share more details on in the future, as well as thousands of new animations. These are just a few of the changes we made with the gameplay for WWE 2K18 as we develop the most complete WWE simulation experience.

WWE Universe Mode sees changes in WWE 2K18, including a new story system that provides more flexibility in how stories play out. The interactions between WWE Superstars build up to rivalries and determine what stories will unfold. The new story system also supports very diverse pay-per-view calendars, meaning it manages WWE’s current pay-per-view schedule alongside player-created custom pay-per-view calendars. In addition, there are new story cut scenes, new Power Rankings and even a new Superstar goal feature to be announced in the future.

For WWE 2K18, we are working hard to improve the online experience in several ways. For example, we are reworking the search system for Community Creations to ensure everyone is able to find the best amazing content created and made available by the community. Additional improvements will be announced later this year.

All of these feature additions and improvements are only made better by the largest roster in WWE gaming history. We are excited to share the roster for this year’s game soon, but for now, our recent announcement of WWE Hall of Famer and current Raw General Manager, Kurt Angle, as the game’s pre-order bonus is a sign of the good things to come with the roster.

WWE 2K18 is shaping up to deliver a complete and visually impressive WWE experience that we know everyone will enjoy. Stay tuned for more information in the near future, and be sure to check out the new WWE 2KDev Spotlight Series starting next Thursday, July 13, on wwe.2k.com.

CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE ABSOLUTION DLC AVAILABLE NOW, FIRST ON PLAYSTATION®4

CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE ABSOLUTION DLC AVAILABLE NOW, FIRST ON PLAYSTATION®4

Absolution Features Content for All Types of Players, Including Four New Multiplayer Maps that Reward a Variety of Different Call of Duty Play Styles

New Zombies Co-Op Experience “Attack of the Radioactive Thing!” Takes Players to the 1950s, Stars Cassandra Peterson Reprising Her Iconic Role of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark

July 7, 2017 – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Absolution, the third DLC Map Pack for 2016’s No. 1 top-selling console video game in the United States (excluding hardware bundle sales), is available now on the PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®4 interactive entertainment system. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, Absolution features four new, diverse multiplayer maps that are designed to showcase the diverse play styles experienced within the game. The DLC pack also includes “Attack of the Radioactive Thing!” with actress Cassandra Peterson starring as Elvira in a 1950s Creature Feature zombies experience.

“No matter your play style, whether you’re a sniper from long range or love close-quarters combat, our team has designed the new maps in Absolution to be fun for all players,” said Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. “And with Attack of the Radioactive Thing!, the twisted zombies storyline heads into another crazy setting now in the 1950s, straight from the classic horror movies of the era. It’s a beachside town completely demolished by a new type of enemy we hope our fans will love, along with waves of the undead and all-new weapons and traps to engage with.”

Attack of the Radioactive Thing!, the next action-packed chapter of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombies story, once again features the return of Willard Wyler, the merciless movie director villain portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, Gotham). Wyler has trapped the four protagonists inside an all-new horror film in the style of the classic, Creature Feature movies from the 1950s. Players will fight against a new array of zombie enemies across a ravaged beach town where a government science experiment has transformed the residents into flesh-devouring zombies and introduced a new biological menace into the city. Additionally, horror movie icon Elvira, played with voice and likeness by Cassandra Peterson (Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Elvira’s Movie Macabre), will help players survive and give them gameplay tips and side quests with her unique Elvira style. New weapons, traps and more, will augment the hallmark Call of Duty zombies action fans know and love, with Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers) as “the Scientist;” Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad) as “the Rebel;” Jay Pharoah (White Famous, Saturday Night Live) as “the Soldier;” and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Pizza Mind) as “the School Girl,” all making a return from the ongoing story in this all-new experience.

In addition to Attack of the Radioactive Thing!, Absolution will also include four new multiplayer maps:

  • Bermuda – A shantytown created around the remnants of a crashed ship, Bermuda allows players to duck, dive, and wall ride from the fish market to the lighthouse in this small to medium sized map that’s been water-wasted and sandblasted.
  • Permafrost – Set within the chill of a frozen city skyline, Permafrost lets players stick to the ground and pick their plan of attack in one of three main lanes. They will traverse the map, moving from street side to train station, and hobo village to wrecked theatre house in this small, tight-quarters map.
  • Fore – In Fore, the only thing miniature about this large map is the golf courses players will be fighting in. Fore features great visual variety as players swing around the sights and sounds of areas that brandish magical forests, giant creamsicles, and elevated castle walls.
  • Ember – Located near an old town castle, Ember is a remake of the Modern Warfare® 3 classic map Resistance, featuring old world aesthetics retrofitted with modern technology. The surroundings include lava, gallows and a torture room, where players will want to stick close to their teammates.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Absolution DLC Map Pack is available for a great value via the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Season Pass, which can be purchased on its own or obtained as part of the Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe editions of the game. Season Pass gives discounted access to all four Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC Map Packs released during 2017 (discount based on a Season Pass suggested retail price of AUD$64.95/NZD$69.95, and four individual DLC Map Packs at a suggested retail price of AUD$19.95/NZD$22.95 each). Upon purchase, Season Pass owners also receive three new base weapons, as well as 10 Rare Supply Drops and 1,000 bonus Salvage Credits to craft new prototype weapons.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is published by Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. [NASDAQ: ATVI], and developed by Infinity Ward. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Absolution releases today, first for the PlayStation 4 interactive entertainment system, with other platforms to follow. The game is rated MA15+ for Mature (Blood, Intense Language, Strong Violence).

Record Setting VAC Ban Wave Hits Steam

SteamDB noticed a strange and massive uptick in VAC bans yesterday. Valve issued a stunning 40,398 VAC bans. The ban wave crushes the previous single day record of 14,640 bans when the Team Fortress 2 hack LMAOBox Premium was detected and consequently banhammered on April 30, 2016.

VAC bans are issued for all games protected by Valve’s anti-cheat software. It is unknown at this time if the massive ban wave is linked to a specific game or hack. Game developers tend to be tight lipped about the details of bans, as concerns that too many details may allow hack tool developers to figure out how the hack was detected and create new work arounds. We may learn more in coming days as banned hackers begin reporting their bans online and start piecing together the common threads.

For those who relish in karma, the ban wave comes right after the end of the Steam Summer Sale, meaning those newly banned hackers looking to start up new accounts to return to their PC games will have to pay full price.

New Story Trailer Released for The Inner World – The Last Wind Monk

Kalypso Media, Head Games, and Fizbin released a brand new trailer for their upcoming point and click adventure game The Inner World – The Last Wind Monk. The sequel to the 2013 game The Inner WorldThe Last Wind Monk follows Robert, our hapless and clueless hero who has been tasked to stop the evil Emil from obliterating the Wind Monks. Helping Robert on his journey is the flightless bird Peck and Robert’s love Laura.

The Inner World – The Last Wind Monk promises a hilarious adventure with high quality voice acting, an atmospheric soundtrack and a playable flute-nose (nose-joke!). The world of Asposia is packed with brainteasers, but the game comes with a multi-level hint system that lets players get just enough clues to solve the puzzle without completely ruining the challenge. The game is set to launch on Linux, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in September 2017.

Splatoon 2 Details Revealed in the Freshest Nintendo Direct Yet

Splatoon 2 Details Revealed in the Freshest Nintendo Direct Yet

Get to Know the New Features, New Weapons and New Styles Before the Game Launches on July 21

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– With the Splatoon 2 game launching exclusively for the Nintendo Switch console in just a couple of weeks, Nintendo partnered with the renowned Squid Research Lab to provide a refresher on some of the new and returning features coming to the squid sequel. The special Nintendo Direct presentation highlighted many of the game’s new features, new weapons, new locations and, most importantly for all the fashion-forward cephalopods out there, its fresh new styles. The video also touched on SplatNet 2, the new service for mobile devices that displays information about Splatoon 2 like stage schedules, gear and stats. SplatNet 2 is part of the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app launching on July 21, which lets players send multiplayer invites to their friends via social media, as well as enables the use of voice chat in battles.

Turf War, which finds two teams of four battling to ink the most turf, makes its grand return in Splatoon 2. There are all kinds of different stages in the game, ranging from city streets, a sports club, an academy and even a BMX track. (Photo: Business Wire)

Splatoon 2 is a huge, robust sequel to the original Splatoon,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Fans that played and loved the first game will have plenty of new stuff to enjoy, while the game is also a great introduction for players new to the colorful and stylish series.”

Before the game launches on July 21, Nintendo Switch owners can dive into the fun with the Splatoon 2: Splatfest World Premiere demo. This special Splatfest will happen July 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. PT. Players just have to download the free demo in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and choose a team before the Splatfest begins. The demo can be downloaded early before the Splatfest goes live, starting later today.

To view the Nintendo Direct video in its entirety, visit http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct. Some of the highlights revealed in the video include:

  • Custom Style: In Splatoon 2, Inklings can be customized to fit the player’s taste. Things like eye color, hair style and skin tone can all be adjusted when creating a character. And this doesn’t even mention the fresh new gear like shirts, shoes and hats that can also be equipped. Since two years have passed in the world of Inkopolis, many styles have been upgraded so no one is caught splatted in something that is “so 2015.”
  • Galleria: To find all these hot new fashion trends, players just have to make their way to the Inkopolis Galleria. This row of popular gear and weapon shops is where all the cool kids and squids hang out. In Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe, a jellyfish named Jelfonzo will help players obtain T-shirts and jackets. A spider crab named Bisk runs the shoe shop Shella Fresh, while Flow the sea slug helps players at the headwear shop Headspace. Weapons can be picked up by stopping by Ammo Knights, run by the knowledgeable horseshoe crab Sheldon. And who doesn’t love food? Inklings can grab a bite at Crusty Sean’s dive to get more points and in-game currency from battles.
  • Gear: Equipping gear in Splatoon 2 will give players special abilities. Each piece of gear has certain abilities, and there are even additional abilities that appear as players use the gear more and more in battle. By speaking to Murch, a sea urchin (naturally), players can freshen up their gear with abilities that reduce ink consumption or help them move faster – some will even decrease respawn time! There is a wide variety of abilities in the game, so selecting the right one to use could make or break the battle.
  • Fresh Features: Some additional features coming to Splatoon 2 include a handy menu that lets players change the sensitivity of the controls separately for TV and Handheld mode, amiibo functionality and the ability to post drawings directly to social media. By tapping a Splatoon series amiibo figure, players can save control settings, gear and weapon loadouts, and nicknames to any Splatoon amiibo figure. New Splatoon series and legacy Splatoon amiibo are all compatible with Splatoon 2 and can also reward players with exclusive gear when tapped. (The game saves data on the amiibo figure, which can hold data for one game at a time. The game, system and amiibo are sold separately. Visit http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo for details about amiibo functionality.)
  • Turf War: Turf War, which finds two teams of four battling to ink the most turf, makes its grand return in Splatoon 2. There are all kinds of different stages in the game, ranging from city streets, a sports club, an academy and even a BMX track. Different stages have different environmental hazards, so players will have to work together to figure out the best strategy.
  • Ranked Battles: Every two hours, the three Ranked Battle modes rotate, offering something new to play. The three modes are Splat Zones, which finds teams fighting for control of Splat Zones placed on the stage; Tower Control, a fast-and-frantic mode in which players ride a moving tower; and the chaotic fun of Rainmaker. By winning a Ranked Battle, players increase their rank in each mode. Ranked Battles can be played online*. The modes in Ranked Battle can be played in local multiplayer** in Private Battle.
  • League Battles: League Battles allow players to form a team with friends, fight alongside them and battle their way to the top of the charts. There are two ways to join in these 4-on-4 battles: Players can enlist one other friend to form a pair and be matched with another pair, or connect with three friends to form a four-squid team. Once teams are created, players compete in Ranked Battle modes to aim for a top ranking.
  • Salmon Run: This new local- and online-multiplayer mode* to Splatoon 2 finds up to four players** working together to defeat bosses and collect Power Eggs in a limited amount of time. Each match in Salmon Run lasts for three waves, with players having to collect a select number of Power Eggs to advance to the next wave – oh, and at least one player on the team has to stay alive. This last part might be tough since the stage is overrun by Salmonid enemies and giant bosses, each with their own weakness. Salmon Run is a frantic multiplayer mode that can be played locally with friends at anytime and is also available to play online at designated times, just like Splatfest.
  • Single-Player Adventure: Oh no! Callie (of the famous Squid Sisters) has disappeared! Of course, there’s no need to panic. Players can just hop into the game’s single-player adventure to ink their way through a variety of creative obstacles, monstrous bosses and devious Octarians. This single-player mode is also a great way to learn the basics of the game and try out different weapons.
  • So Many Ways to Play!: Splatoon 2 can be played in so many different ways, including TV Mode, Handheld Mode and Tabletop Mode, as well as online* or local multiplayer**. And not only are the game-play options numerous, but the jam-packed sequel can be played anywhere!
  • Main Weapons: In Splatoon 2, weapons come in sets of three: a main weapon, a sub weapon and a special weapon. There are many different types of main weapons, from long-range weapons to short-range ones. Some new (wonderfully named) weapons introduced in Splatoon 2 include the Clash Blaster, Flingza Roller, Goo Tuber and the Dapple Dualies.
  • Sub Weapons: In addition to inking and attacking, many sub weapons will help players with other abilities, such as defending from attacks or revealing enemy positions. The new Autobomb, for example, will find an enemy and automatically follow them, while Toxic Mist, well, is exactly how it sounds! It fills the surrounding area with a poisonous mist, reducing the ink of opponents who dare step in its range, as well as making them move slower.
  • Special Weapons: All the special weapons in Splatoon 2 are new! Some of the weapons making their debut are the Tenta Missiles, the Inkjet, the Sting Ray and the Baller, which lets players roll up walls in an explosive hamster ball. Special weapons can be used once a player’s special meter is filled.
  • Post-Launch Updates: Like the first Splatoon, Splatoon 2 will see a continuing rollout of updates to the game. These updates will take the form of new weapons, like the umbrella-shaped Brella, new gear and additional stages.
  • SplatNet 2: When the Nintendo Switch Online app* launches for mobile devices on July 21, players will also have access to SplatNet 2. This Splatoon 2-specific service helps players stay in touch with Inkopolis even when they are away from their Nintendo Switch systems! SplatNet 2 displays information like stage schedules, gear and stats, and even lets users view their lifetime inkage, a feature that shows how much turf a player has inked compared to real-world places. The Nintendo Switch Online app allows users to invite other players to join Private Battles, League Battles, Salmon Run and Splatfest Battles, as well as communicate with those players using voice chat. (A compatible mobile device and persistent internet connection are required. Data charges may apply.)
  • Splatfests: While content updates for Splatoon 2 will last around a year, more limited-time Splatfests for the game are planned for the next two years. To kick things off, a free demo to try out the first Splatfest for Splatoon 2 is going to be held on July 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. PT. Players just have to download the free demo in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and get ready to decide if cake or ice cream is their dessert of choice. To prepare in advance, the demo can be downloaded early before the Splatfest goes live, starting later today. Once downloaded, players can start the demo to vote for their team, and even visit the in-game mailbox to create and share drawings in support of their team.
