Raiders of the Broken Planet Antagonist Video Developer Diary Out Now

Raiders of the Broken Planet Antagonist Video Developer Diary Out Now

MercurySteam have released the debut developer diary for Raiders of the Broken Planet, that focuses on the role of the Antagonist, one of the core pillars in the 4 divided by 1 asymmetric shooter.

While playing co-operatively, players run the risk of having an Antagonist join their game, to stop them from achieving their objective. The Antagonist can select any character from the Raiders roster and is able to see which characters the Raiders team selects. This gives the Antagonist the opportunity to pick a character whose strengths and weaknesses are tailored towards the opposition. Combined with the shifting objectives, complex enemy AI and dynamic  characters, the Antagonist is another element that makes the outcome of matches impossible to predict as both sides do everything they can to win.

MercurySteam have also released the next character comic for Raiders of the Broken Planet featuring the mysterious Lycus Dion, a deadly and unhinged mercenary— a true force to be reckoned with. Armed with a shotgun and kinetic shield, Lycus is hyper-offensive, revelling in the fear he instills in his prey. And he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty in close quarters combat—Lycus excels in close range, a master of relentless aggression. His kinetic shield requires  movement to stay charged, further coaxing those who select him to get up close and personal to unleash his savage combat potential.

Lycus’ origins are shrouded in mystery, rumoured to have been seen fighting in different wars across multiple centuries. Is he a myth, a ghost or are all the stories about him somehow true? No one knows for sure, but his entry into the war for the Broken Planet can only mean one thing: chaos.

Play as Your Own Created Character in Sonic Forces

Seems like Sega has taken a page from the Dragon Ball Xenoverse book and has implemented custom character creation for it’s newest Sonic game Sonic Forces. Starring alongside the classic 2D gameplay of Classic Sonic and the 3D boost style stages of Modern Sonic, your custom character has an emphasis on using Wisps powers and a grappling hook to get around levels and defeat enemies.

This marks the first time the player is able to create their own ‘Sonic style’ character, with the option of seven base animals to choose from all with unique abilities.

  • Wolf – Automatically draws in rings when near them
  • Rabbit – Has longer invincible time after receiving damage
  • Cat – Keeps one ring after being hit
  • Dog – Restarts with five rings after the player dies
  • Bear – Blows away enemies with a homing attack
  • Bird – Flies high with double jump abilities
  • Hedgehog – Collects rings when getting damaged

On top of that, players can customise their character further with different colours and hundreds of different clothing varieties and accessories. Your character will play a key part in the story, even featuring in cut scenes alongside Sonic and the gang. This announcement came in the form of a brand new trailer for Sonic Forces which you can also check out below.

Are you excited to place your own Sonic creation into the official universe? Let us know what kind of character you’ll be making in the comments below. Sonic Forces is due out sometime in 2017.

The two volumes will be released this year on July 1 and 14, respectively. They each have a suggested retail price of $150.98 USD, but can currently be pre-ordered from Right Stuf for $120.98 USD.

Kuromukuro Collector’s Edition Volumes 1 and 2 will present episodes 1-13 and 14-26, respectively, with English and Japanese audio options and English and Spanish subtitle options. Kuromukuro‘s premise is described as follows:

Scientists from around the world have gathered in the facility to study the object, while their children enjoy their everyday lives attending Mt. Tate International Senior High School.

To her surprise, what appears before her is Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma, a young samurai from the Sengoku era.

As a threat approaches from outer space, Yukina, along with Kennosuke, finds herself defending Earth against the invading forces. Along the way, she discovers the mystery behind Kennosuke and the reason he is determined to protect her.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole to Launch on October 17

Ubisoft and South Park Digital Studios announced today that South Park: The Fractured but Whole will launch on October 17, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. The game has been struck by several delays, with the latest report from Ubisoft stating the game would be launched during the 2017-2018 fiscal year. It seems like the game will now launch in the middle of the fiscal year, meaning the developers still have several months of breathing room in case the game needs to be delayed again.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole marks the return of the New Kid, who is joining Cartman and the kids to form a superhero group called Coon & Friends. The New Kid will wield their fart fueled super powers to fight crime and discover their true origin. The game features a revamped loot and crafting system, along with a flexible new class system.

For Honor Season Two Shadow & Might Kicks Off

Ubisoft announced that the second season of For Honor is now underway. Entitled “Shadow & Might,” the new season introduces the next chapter of the Faction War metagame, plus adds two new maps, two new classes, and a variety of new items to the game.

Season one ended with an epic battle between the Samurai and Vikings for domination of the map. In the end, the Vikings came out on top. Viking players will be getting some sweet cosmetic items as reward for their bloody victory. The map has now been reset and nine new territories have been unlocked for season two. The new season will run for twelve weeks.

“Shadow & Might” is also introducing a slew of new content. Two new maps have been added to the game and are free for all players. Forge is set in a weapon shop and blacksmith forge owned by the Knights in Ashfeld. Temple Garden is set in Samurai territory in Myre that is about to become a bloody battlefield. Two new classes are also being added. The classes are free for all Season Pass owners and everyone else will be able to buy them for 15,000 Steel each starting on May 23. The Shinobi is Samurai Assassin wielding a kusarigama, a hand sickle attached to a chain. The Shinobi specializes in striking enemies from range and staying out of danger. The Centurion is a Roman inspired Hybrid that wields a gladius and whittles down the enemy’s stamina, then punishes them with heavy blows.

“Shadow & Might” also consists of a major balancing patch. The patch introduces a range of class balances and revamps the gear system to be more straight forward. Additionally the max gear level has been raised to 114.

First Look at Xenoverse 2 DLC Pack 4, Switch Version Details

As expected, this month’s issue of V-Jump has given us some minor details on DLC Pack 4 for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2It confirms Merged Zamasu and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegito will be the two new playable characters in the pack. We can’t make out too much from the scan, but SSGSS Vegito (perhaps better known as Vegito Blue) seems to have a new variant of the Super God Fist Super and a new move based on the Spirit Sword.

Merged Zamasu appears to have his halo intact and the ultimate move Holy Wrath one of the crazy ultimate attacks he used in the anime, of which there should be no shortage to fill an entire moveset from. In addition, it seems we are getting a ruined future stage based on the setting used for all the fights between our Saiyan heroes and Zamasu and Black. From what we can see in the small screenshots the stage looks very detailed and accurate to the anime. DLC Pack 4 is due for a June release.

The bottom of the scan reveals some information about the Nintendo Switch version, however, some of the details are still a little shady. The most contested point that hasn’t been clearly translated is that Xenoverse 1 will in some form be represented in Xenoverse 2 on the Nintendo Switch. Whether it will be the entire story or just a portion or just playable characters is still not clear, but the most common translation seems to say it will have a portion of the story from Xenoverse 1 story that will allow you to give some context to the character you choose to bring forward into Xenoverse 2.

Confirmed details about the Switch version include:

  • Ad-Hoc Co-Op Play – A new local mode allows up to six Nintendo Switch console to connect to participate in local multiplayer battles.
  • Motion Controls for Super/Ultimate Attacks – Motion controls from the Wii version of Tenkaichi 3 are back! Perform the Kamehameha and more by using the Joy-Con controllers.
  • Two-Player Joy-Con Battles – Using just one Joy-Con each, 2 players will be able to battle. (This will surely create some sort of compromise to the battle system as there simply aren’t enough buttons on a single Joy-Con).
  • For a ‘Limited Time’ – players can experience the “Time Patrol” main story from the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Ther also seems to be some sort of Day 1 Edition or Preorder Bonus that will give you a code to unlock any character that would normally be unlocked through story progression immediately.

With the Switch not being as powerful as the other platforms Xenoverse 2 is present on, it will be interesting to see what compromises have to be made to accommodate for that. It is also unclear if the Switch version will contain the DLC already implemented or if a Season Pass will still be sold separately. The Switch version is set for a Fall release in Japan.

Nintendo Unleashes a Barrage of Details for the New ARMS Game for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Unleashes a Barrage of Details for the New ARMS Game for Nintendo Switch

New Trailer for Splatoon 2 Single-Player Mode Also Debuts

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo premiered a new Nintendo Direct video presentation all about its upcoming ARMS game for the Nintendo Switch console – with a little surprise from everyone’s favorite Inklings in the Splatoon 2 game as part of a bonus trailer at the end. ARMS was created by many of the same team members that developed the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game for Nintendo Switch, promising the same level of polish and competitive action as the hit racing game. The Nintendo Direct video detailed many new features about ARMS, including key characters, attributes and the game’s numerous multiplayer battle modes, as well as information about a free Global Testpunch demo for the game that starts at the end of May.

“With games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS and Splatoon 2, the next few months will be a summer of social competitive gaming on Nintendo Switch,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This Nintendo Direct presentation offered great reasons why ARMS is perfect for players of all ages, whether they are familiar with fighting games or not.”

To view the Nintendo Direct video in its entirety, visit http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct. Some of the highlights revealed in the video include:

ARMS

  • Combat Customization: After selecting a character, players will have the opportunity to equip two ARMS, one on the right and one on the left. These ARMS range from standard fists to things like boomerangs and missiles, offering a wide variety of close- and long-range attacks, as well as offensive and defensive options.
    • Types – Dozens of ARMS can be selected in the game, each with its own special power and handling ability. Different types range from the Toaster, which unleashes a flaming punch, to the Tribolt, which shoots three bolts horizontally. Some ARMS even boost defense, like the Guardian, which can be used as a shield.
    • Attributes – There are seven different ARMS attributes in the game, each with its own specialty: Fire, Electricity, Wind, Ice, Stun, Explosion and Blind. Different ARMS have different attributes, so it’s a good idea to mix and match for a strategic advantage.
    • Weight – When equipping the many different types of ARMS, weight is an important factor in determining performance. Weight affects momentum, so players have to keep this in mind when selecting ARMS. Stronger ARMS are more powerful but slower, while multi-hit ARMS are quick but have lower individual power. Punches can even run into each other while fighting, with the heavier ARMS knocking the lighter ones away.
    • Upgrade ARMS – As players fight through ARMS, they will rack up hard-earned in-game currency for use at the ARMS Getter, where players can use their skills to earn new ARMS and the ability to upgrade previously owned ones.
  • Versus Mode: ARMS is filled to the brim with fun modes that offer a variety of ways to challenge other fighters.
    • Fight – In this main multiplayer* mode, two fighters battle against each other one-on-one to claim victory. During the fight, bombs and other healing items drop in, adding some strategic options to the proceedings.
    • Team Fight – In this mode, two players are attached by strings and must team up to battle another team of two. Attacks can hit allies, so watch out for friendly punches!
    • V-Ball – Similar to volleyball, but much more awesome. V-Ball is a sport that involves knocking an explosive ball into the opponent’s court.
    • Hoops – Grab opponents and shoot them into the net (or even dunk them for extra satisfaction) in this hard-core game of ARMS-style basketball.
    • Skillshot – Break as many targets as possible using the versatile powers of ARMS.
    • 1-on-100 – Defeat 100 enemies in a row, one at a time, in this progressive battle mode.
    • ARMS Test & Training – In Test mode, players can try out randomized ARMS combinations, while Training lets them practice a number of varied drills.
  • Multiplayer* Gaming: Playing with friends either locally or online is easy when using one of the various multiplayer modes in ARMS.
    • Grand Prix – Win 10 straight matches in Grand Prix and players will face a final opponent to be crowned the ARMS champion. (This mode is played locally with one or two players.)
    • Party Match – By connecting the Nintendo Switch console to the internet, players can battle with up to three other ARMS players at a time that are in the same lobby as them. One lobby can hold up to 10 systems, but with up to two players per system, 20 players can potentially get together in the same lobby.
    • Ranked Match – In this time-honored coliseum, players compete online in 1-v-1 battles. By winning a match, a player’s rank goes up, while, conversely, losing will make that rank go down. While waiting to play a Ranked Match online, players can participate in any other mode to pass the time (and tighten up their skills).
    • Local Wireless Mode: When playing in Local Wireless mode, up to eight players with eight separate systems in the same room can gather in an in-game lobby and battle up to three other players at a time like in Party Match.
  • ARMS Update: In the future, Nintendo will release free software updates that add new fighters, stages and ARMS to the game. These free updates will occur after the game launches, so watch for additional details!
  • Global Testpunch: Like Splatoon 2 and Splatoon before it, ARMS is offering free trial periods to try out the game and get a taste of what it’s like before launch. But instead of a Global Testfire, these free demos will naturally be called the Global Testpunch. The first blocks of time will be allocated throughout the weekend of May 26-28, and the second blocks on June 2-4. To participate, simply download the free Global Testpunch demo in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch before the trials begin. Check http://arms.nintendo.com/ for updates about specific timing.
  • Characters: Over the course of the Nintendo Direct presentation, the 10 key playable fighters in ARMS were unveiled. Each with his or her own fighting style, the game’s playable characters are full of personality.
    • Spring Man – This passionate fighter’s bouncy hairstyle might look fake, but his passion for fighting is definitely real.
    • Ninjara – Using his nimble movements and ancient ninjutsu, Ninjara can disappear and warp somewhere else even in mid-air or when guarding.
    • Master Mummy – As the only character that can restore health while guarding, Master Mummy is a force to be reckoned with.
    • Min Min – With her ramen noodle arms, Min Min’s spin kick and throws are deliciously powerful.
    • Kid Cobra – A fan of selfie sticks and livestreaming, this hip fighter pounces on opponents with a charged-up dash.
    • Ribbon Girl – Possessing next-level jumping skills, Ribbon Girl violates the laws of physics with her unbeatable power.
    • Helix – Who is Helix? He’s an experiment gone wrong, that’s who. His springy body lets him move in unpredictable ways.
    • Mechanica – This mechanical genius dons a homemade power suit that can hover above the competition.
    • Byte & Barq – Two fighters in one! This robot fighter and his robot canine companion battle together to unleash devastating combo attacks.
    • Twintelle – As an A-list actress, Twintelle uses her celebrity status to render her opponents utterly star struck as she walks the red carpet to victory.

Splatoon 2

  • Splatoon 2 Single-Player Mode: At the end of the Nintendo Direct presentation, a new trailer for Splatoon 2 debuted, showing off the game’s single-player mode. In a shocking twist, Callie – of Squid Sisters fame – has gone missing and her right-tentacle squid Marie tasks the player to search for Callie and the Great Zapfish. Players can use different weapons in single-player mode to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies and take down towering bosses – weapons like the Roller, Slosher, Splatling or the new Dualies. The single-player mode is designed to teach players tips and tricks that they can then use in multiplayer. For more on the Squid Sisters, check out the Squid Sisters Stories here.

ARMS launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on June 16. For more information about the game, visit http://arms.nintendo.com/. Splatoon 2 launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 21. For more information about the game, visit http://splatoon.nintendo.com/.

Remember that Nintendo Switch features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/switch/.

*Additional accessories are required for multiplayer mode and are sold separately.
