RACERS, REV YOUR ENGINES! NEW COOPERATIVE ARCADE RACING GAME TRAILBLAZERS COMING SPRING 2018

Rising Star Games and Supergonk Reveal First Details on Groundbreaking Racing Title Coming Soon to All Major Gaming Formats

LOS ANGELES, CA – February 22, 2018 – Videogame publisher Rising Star Games, in partnership with new UK-based independent game developer Supergonk, announced today that Trailblazers, the world’s first true, second-to-second co-operative arcade racing game, will be unleashed across all major gaming platforms in Spring 2018.

Trailblazers is a fresh new co-operative racing title with an innovative on-track game mechanic: paint the track, boost on your color, and work as a team to win! Racing in teams of up to three-versus-three, players paint the track as they race, capturing key areas to dynamically change the racing line, then boosting on their team’s color. Racers who drive with flair and style will also amass skill points to blaze their way to victory! Players can experience the blistering high-speed action with up to six players online, or locally via split-screen for up to four local players with additional online or CPU-controlled challengers.

“The Supergonk team is proud to announce Trailblazers; our vision of true co-op racing designed from the ground-up with team play at its core,” said Ben Ward, founder of Supergonk. “The brand new paint/boost mechanics introduce a fresh layer of second-to-second strategic thinking which can’t be found in other racing titles. As huge racing game fans, we feel that the genre often hasn’t been as innovative as we’d like. Our aim with Trailblazers is clear: to create a brand new IP to reinvigorate the genre and build an unexpected new racer that we ourselves want to play.”

Paint within the track lines of Trailblazers to setup turbo boosting for trailing teammates!

Loaded with multiplayer thrills and a series of single-player challenges across an extended campaign mode, Trailblazers is an audio-visual onslaught of retro-futuristic style and attitude. The game takes place in a lavishly designed world from the creative mind of BAFTA award-winning artist Will Milton. Players race through expansive and stunning scenic tracks set across locations ranging from mountain tops to lush forests and arid desert valleys. Aural soundscapes are provided via the officially licensed soundtrack featuring leaders of the Future Funk genre, including Get On Up by Skope, Bad King Kong by The Derevolutions, and Dead Ringer by A.Skillz.

In Trailblazers, players will race as, and alongside, a diverse cast of characters. Each driver plays a vital role in the racing community and unfolding story of the Trailblazers world, and each has a unique role and driving behaviour. Players can also choose from a showroom of the fastest race cars in the galaxy, each with customised stats to fit every play style and track type.

“We are thrilled to have worked alongside Supergonk to help realise their vision,” said Martin Defries, President of Rising Star Games. “The game is superb, the ambition high, and the opportunity vast. We are keen to show the gaming community across the world just how great this game is.”

Trailblazers, developed by Supergonk and published digitally by Rising Star Games, will be available globally from Spring 2018 across all major gaming platforms. Keep your engines running for incoming additional information about gameplay modes and features of this ground-breaking new arcade racing title, by following Rising Star Games on InstagramTwitterFacebook, or visit the Trailblazers website.

Batman: The Enemy Within – What Ails You Review

Batman: The Enemy Within – What Ails You

Developer: Telltale Games
Publisher: Telltale Games
Platforms: Xbox One (Reviewed), PlayStation 4, PC
Release Date: Available Now
Price: $4.99 – Available Here

Overview

There are inherent risks when it comes to taking a beloved franchise and creating a brand new take on its story, especially when the property is as big as Batman. Throughout their time with the series Telltale Games has had fans wondering just how things will play out as numerous twists to the established formula have kept them on their toes. Now as we’ve seen in Batman: The Enemy Within, John Doe is far different from the Joker many see him as, but just how different can he become in this fourth episode?

Story

Since this review will cover an ongoing series that has yet to be completed, those who have yet to play previous episodes in the series before Batman: The Enemy Within – What Ails You should do so before continuing to read as various events will be discussed from past episodes.

At the end of Batman: The Enemy Within – Fractured Mask players were given a pivotal choice that played a large role in the way the episode concluded. This major decision saw Bruce sacrificing his cover to protect Catwoman or blaming the leaks on her to keep himself close to The Pact and depending on what you selected the beginning of this episode will play out in a wildly different way. That is something that Telltale has excelled at throughout this season as players will be encouraged to either play through the game twice to see how things happen differently or simply discuss things with others to see what varied between these versions

Of course as one would expect, the story does meld back to the same point with a deadly virus falling into the hands of the criminals and Bruce needing to put a stop to their misguided plans. What makes things interesting here is just how he has to track them down as it once again falls to John Doe being the one to lead Bruce/Batman to his quarry.

The amount of character development and tense situations that players will experience throughout this episode make it one of the best this season. Especially in regards to John Doe, who we all have known is this game’s version of the Joker. What few could have seen coming is just how well-written and integral to the story John would end up being without flat out turning into a villain by this point.

By constantly giving players glimpses at John’s psyche and seeing him as vulnerable and misguided as he was trying to follow Harley Quinn we see a side that has never been shown of the character and with players always needing to either place their trust in this potential powder keg or shunning him, we see just how this character ends up where he does by the time the credits role this time around.

Outside of dealing with John players will also learn plenty of new information regarding Waller, the Agency, and the true nature of the Virus and why The Pact formed in the first place. This lays the groundwork for future events that will be interesting to see play out in the final episode which will hopefully be a doozy because with everything that players know now and the way this episode leaves off, Batman will face a dangerous threat no matter how things played out.

Gameplay

As with many of the episodes this season, the amount of exploration and puzzle solving players take part is quite small as the focus is instead placed on the action and dialogue scenes. There are also, as mentioned before, quite a few scenes that play out very differently depending on the choices that you have made through previous episodes, including elements that happened in the first episode so players will be pleased to see their choices carrying at least some level of consequence this far into the season.

Visuals & Audio

This episode places players in a number of new and interesting looking locations though most of these are shown only through action sequences which remain highly impressive looking. It is worth noting that unlike past episodes, What Ails You managed to play perfectly without any of the usual Telltale graphical glitches appearing.

One must give the actor portraying John Doe a lot of credit for his handling of the character this episode. Thanks to the numerous heart-breaking scenes that the character appears in, especially near the end of the episode and in certain branches of the storyline, his performance truly shines. The rest of the characters are also handled quite well with a number of side characters making a return this episode.

Overall

With impressive writing that adds impact and weight to the decisions that players make through the episode, Batman: The Enemy Within – What Ails You leaves us with a shorter runtime than usual but packs in enough story development and pertinent plot information while leaving players with one hell of a cliffhanger that will leave them excited to see just how this story will wrap up next episode.
