Paradox Interactive to Acquire Harebrained Schemes

Seattle-based developer of BATTLETECH and Shadowrun Returns Joining the Paradox Family as an Internal Studio

STOCKHOLM and SEATTLE – June 5, 2018 – Paradox Interactive, a publisher and developer of interactive entertainment, today announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Harebrained Schemes, LLC, a Seattle-based developer of award-winning games set within genre-defining universes. Harebrained Schemes will now act as an internal studio and division within the Paradox organization, led by its own internal management and creative teams, designing and developing the games that have earned them their outstanding reputation.

Harebrained Schemes was founded in 2011 by industry veterans Jordan Weisman and Mitch Gitelman. Weisman is the creator of many acclaimed game universes including Shadowrun, Crimson Skies, and BattleTech/MechWarrior, and has founded several previous entertainment companies including FASA Corp, Virtual World Entertainment, FASA Interactive, 42 Entertainment, and Wizkids. At Harebrained Schemes, the partners-in-crime assembled a scrappy, talented team and shipped eight titles in seven years including the award-winning Shadowrun Returns series of CRPGs and the recently released turn-based strategy title BATTLETECH, published by Paradox.

Players can create their own legend through their own custom character or lead a notable warlord from the pivotal time in Japanese history to serve under, and eventually succeed, their favourite figures of Japan’s history!

With Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi’s Resolve System, each move will have to be considered by the player. The system introduces a set of aspirations, all of which decide how an officer will act in a given situation – accomplishing an officer’s ambitions will prove worthwhile as it will unlock bonuses that will improve the player’s playthrough situation.

Strategist will experience the Sengoku Era of Japan – a period where regional lords fiercely fought for supremacy, leading with a variety of their own ambitions. Players will have to exploit a wide breadth of tactical options to create fresh strategies that allow new ways to gain an advantage over the opponent. Utilise the introduced two-part turn-based battle system: The Planning Phase pauses the action so that players can strategise their next move and, when ready, the Execution Phase commences and the battle unfolds in real-time. Before the actual battle starts players will be able to utilise different formations and tactics while guessing which ones the enemy will use – initiating the best mix to unleash a devastating blow to the opposing army.

Those who purchase Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi during the first four weeks of launch can get an extra scenario, “Nobunaga Besieged”; an alternative character profile design for a selection of characters; a character profile set called “Princess Warriors”; and a new character design for Megohime: “Megohime Officer Facial Graphic”.

Founded in 1904, Schalke 04 has been European Champions, seven times German Championship winners and five times German Cup winners. The club finished second in the German league this season and showcases KONAMI’s commitment to bringing the best of the best from the real-life game to PES fans.

We’re so thrilled to announce today that State of Decay 2, less than two weeks from global launch, has now reached 2 million player milestone! The team here is incredibly grateful to the strong community of players who have already joined in on the fight for survival.

With so many players enjoying the game, we’ve seen some interesting trends and data since our previous milestone of 1 million players. So far, survivors have eliminated close to 2 billion zombies! That’s a lot of undead conquered! We’re also seeing lots of successful survivor stories. Last week, players tended to survive about three days on average, and as of note, we’ve seen players complete over 121,000 community stories and start brand new communities with a new map that includes extra bonuses to help kickstart their new survival challenge. This shows an incredible commitment to the game and we’re excited so many of you are enjoying the rich survival experience that State of Decay 2 offers.

The entire team has been working hard to bring all 2 million players bug fixes, gameplay tune-ups, and quality of life improvements with our latest game patch released last Friday. We are always listening to our fans to improve the game experience, and we will continue to bring updates and additional content as you explore all that State of Decay 2 has to offer. Please note that the 1.2 Update weighs in at 20GB. This is an automatic update you will be prompted to install upon logging in, and it will not affect your saved game. The sequel to the original smash hit, State of Decay 2 puts players in small-town America, one year from the end of everything. The dead have risen and civilization has fallen. Not even the military could stop the zombies, and now it’s up to you to gather survivors and build a community in a post-apocalyptic world – a world where every decision matters, and where you define what it means to survive. The game builds upon the unique blend of open-world exploration, third-person action, and survival-fantasy role-playing pioneered in the original game. There is an overarching story told in the form of structured mainline and optional sidequests, but the world itself is shaped by your actions with dynamically generated content based on your choices and the ever-increasing zombie threat.

THQ Nordic announced today that Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered Edition will be launching on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 3, 2018. PC players who already own Red Faction: Guerrilla will get a free upgrade on Steam.

Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered Edition features reworked graphics to bring the 2009 title to 2018 standards. Modern graphic technologies like specular mapping and improved lighting technology have been added to the game. The textures have also been reworked to support up to resolutions of 4K.

New Mission: Impossible – Fallout HALO Jumping Featurette Released

Paramount Pictures released a new featurette that breaks down the process to capture Tom Cruise’s on-screen HALO jump in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. A HALO jump is a High Altitude, Low Opening parachute jump commonly used in the military to covertly insert troops. The parachutist will leave the plane between 15,000 to 35,000 feet in the air and open the parachute a several hundred feet above the ground.

Cruise opted to do the stunt himself, training with a wind machine and a hundred parachute jumps. Based on the requirements of the scene and the camera work, the team only had a few minutes per day for Cruise and the camera team to perform the HALO jump in close proximity of each other in order to film the scene.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 2nd.

Acquisition will empower developers, accelerate GitHub’s growth and advance Microsoft services with new audiences.

REDMOND, Wash.June 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Microsoft Corp. on Monday announced it has reached an agreement to acquire GitHub, the world’s leading software development platform where more than 28 million developers learn, share and collaborate to create the future. Together, the two companies will empower developers to achieve more at every stage of the development lifecycle, accelerate enterprise use of GitHub, and bring Microsoft’s developer tools and services to new audiences.

Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will acquire GitHub for $7.5 billion in Microsoft stock. Subject to customary closing conditions and completion of regulatory review, the acquisition is expected to close by the end of the calendar year.

GitHub will retain its developer-first ethos and will operate independently to provide an open platform for all developers in all industries. Developers will continue to be able to use the programming languages, tools and operating systems of their choice for their projects — and will still be able to deploy their code to any operating system, any cloud and any device.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Nat Friedman, founder of Xamarin and an open source veteran, will assume the role of GitHub CEO. GitHub’s current CEO, Chris Wanstrath, will become a Microsoft technical fellow, reporting to Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie, to work on strategic software initiatives.

Non-GAAP excludes expected impact of purchase accounting adjustments, as well as integration and transaction-related expenses. An incremental share buyback, beyond Microsoft’s recent historical quarterly pace, is expected to offset stock consideration paid within six months after closing. Microsoft will use a portion of the remaining ~$30 billion of its current share repurchase authorization for the purchase.

Sydney, Australia – June 4, 2018 – A new gameplay trailer and screenshots debuted today for Underworld Ascendant, the first major title from OtherSide Entertainment, an independent game developer founded by industry legends Paul Neurath (Ultima Underworld, Thief) and Warren Spector (Deus Ex, Epic Mickey). The trailer also revealed that the long-awaited return to the Stygian Abyss will launch in September this year:
