Cube World Launching on Steam in September/October

No update to Picroma’s Cube World has been released since the game exploded onto the indie gaming scene in 2013. Wollay, the one man dev behind Picroma, rarely posted updates on Twitter. Although Wollay provided some screenshots and video footage of his progress, the lack of updates to the alpha for paid backers made many to believe Cube World was vapourware.

We finally had the greatest sign of life on Friday, as Picroma announced Cube World’s impending release on Steam. Details are extremely scant right now. Wollay has confirmed that anyone who paid to get access to the alpha will get Steam keys when the game is released. Currently, the tentative release date is in late September or October.

The store page has a simple description of what the Steam release will bring to Cube World. A total lack of Steam Early Access branding implies that it will be a full featured 1.0 release on Steam. No price has been announced as of yet, but it is safe to assume Cube World will cost a lot more than it’s original $15 USD price.

EVERSPACE™ 2 Kickstarter campaign with first demo version starts on 02 October 2019

After ROCKFISH Games announced its new open-world space shooter EVERSPACE™ 2 for PC and consoles at Gamescom: Opening Night Live, the independent German developer announced today the postponement of the Kickstarter campaign to October 02, 2019. Early Access of EVERSPACE™2 on Steam is currently planned for the end of 2020, with the full version for PC, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One scheduled for release in the second half of 2021.

“At Gamescom and Pax West, over 1500 space game fans played the EVERSPACE™ 2 demo and were all enthusiastic about it. That’s why we decided to exhibit at the Tokyo Game Show at the German Pavilion at short notice, too,” says Michael Schade, CEO of ROCKFISH Games. “We will then incorporate the feedback into the finalization of the reward tiers and stretch goals of the Kickstarter campaign. In addition, we want to polish the demo a bit more and add graphic options to support a wide range of gaming PCs, so that our backers can get into exciting space battles later this year.” The story of EVERSPACE™ 2 will continue after the events of its successful predecessor. The game will offer not only even more immersive gameplay, but also a visually impressive open-world gaming experience. The Kickstarter campaign is now scheduled from 02 October to 04 November 2019. The demo version of EVERSPACE™ 2 for eligible backers will be available via Steam shortly after the campaign has ended.

World first true crime AR game to launch for Melbourne International Games Week

Solve a historic mystery in the world-first AR true crime mobile game True Crime Mysteries: Misadventure in Little Lon, launching October 6 as part of Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW).

Created by Victorian studio 10Tickles, this immersive augmented reality game challenges players to unravel an intriguing true crime from Melbourne’s notorious red-light district in 1910.

Players are propelled on an exhilarating adventure through the streets of Melbourne’s past, exploring heritage sites where spine tingling events went down. Collecting clues and questioning the delightful deviants who lived in the laneways of Little Lon.

The historically accurate game investigates a series of clashes that landed Ernest Gunter in hospital and led to his eventual demise.

Furious friends and family struggle to gain justice for Gunter, convinced he was hit in an unprovoked attack; while associates of Bourke Street Rat, John Evans, claim Gunter attacked Evans with murderous intent. A stolen kiss, money owed to the mob, a hired hitman. Are they telling truth or lies? You decide!

‘Misadventure in Little Lon’ features sound design by Sianna Lee, and players can find real newspaper articles and artefacts from the Little Lon archaeological dig hidden throughout the game.

Emma Ramsay, 10Tickles Co-founder said, “We are excited to be launching our first game in the True Crime Mysteries series during Melbourne International Games Week. ‘Misadventure in Little Lon’ transports you from this realm to one shrouded in historical intrigue and can be played from anywhere in the world.”

True Crime Mysteries: Misadventure In Little Lon will be available via the App Store or Google Play ($7.99) from 6 October.

Members of the public are invited to the official launch of ‘Misadventure in Little Lon’ where they can meet ‘real life’ characters and the game-makers. Sunday 6 October, 1pm – 5pm starting from State Library Victoria. Register now.
