SCI-FI THRILLER ONTOS ANNOUNCED AT THE GAME AWARDS 2025

Frictional Games Reveals Their Newest Mind-Bending Narrative Mystery Launching in 2026 for PC and Console

LONDON (Dec. 11, 2025) – Video games publisher and creative studio Kepler Interactive and Frictional Games, the independent developer known for SOMA, and the Penumbra and Amnesia series, have today revealed their newest project, ONTOS, a sci-fi mystery thriller coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next year. Featuring Golden Globe winner Stellan Skarsgård within its talented cast, ONTOS has been developed as a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed SOMA by the talented Swedish development team, bringing their immersive gameplay systems and unrivalled storytelling and worldbuilding to the next level.

In ONTOS, players will become Aditi Amani, a resourceful engineer, as she explores the repurposed moon hotel Samsara in search of the truth around her estranged father. Samsara is a vast labyrinth built atop the ruins of a failed mining colony, and players will explore this open, interconnected environment in their quest for the truth. Every corner of Samsara tells a story, and every story has something hiding beneath the surface, waiting to be found…

Players will scavenge for helpful items, manipulate intricate machinery and face intense tests of morality as they encounter horrific Experiments throughout Samsara. There is no ‘one solution’ to the obstacles players will encounter in ONTOS. Players will need to use their wits and ingenuity to reach the narrative’s mysterious conclusions and face the consequences of their choices.

“After more than 10 years of development it is incredibly exciting to finally announce ONTOS. This is easily our most ambitious project yet in terms of scope, production values and sheer thematic ambitions,” says Thomas Grip, creative director and co-founder of Frictional Games. “Where SOMA tackled consciousness, ONTOS aims to do the same thing with the very nature of reality. A lofty goal – yes – and a risky one too. I feel we have managed to create something that does just that though – a game that lets you actively engage with the mysteries of existence headfirst. I am personally dying to see how players react to it.”

Developed using their new, proprietary HPL4 engine, Frictional Game’s most thought-provoking work yet will release in collaboration with Kepler Interactive, the publisher behind a curated collection of culturally resonant, bold and timeless games including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Rematch, Sifu, Pacific Drive and Ultros. “Kepler is always drawn to teams like Frictional Games that share our passion for creativity and art that feels alive. ONTOS is bold, unsettling and beautifully weird. It’s the kind of project that captures the magic of true auteurs and Hollywood talent coming together to explore the strange and tell a story that could only exist in video games,” says Alexis Garavaryan, CEO of Kepler Interactive.

ONTOS was previously teased back in September 2025 via an innovative and immersive ARG (Alternate Reality Game) made in collaboration with Kepler Interactive, ONTOS’ global publishing partner. Via a mysterious clue found in SOMA’s 10th anniversary update on PC, players could discover a series of social accounts, websites and strange messages that led them to uncover some early teases about ONTOS’ philosophical story themes and locations.

Players can wishlist ONTOS now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of its release in 2026. For more information, visit: www.ontosgame.com

Wildflower Interactive Unveils Coven of the Chicken Foot at The Game Awards

An intimate, companion-driven adventure from The Last of UsGame Director Bruce Straley, coming to PC

LOS ANGELES – December 11, 2025 – Wildflower Interactive, a new independent game studio led by Bruce Straley (The Last of Us, Uncharted), today revealed its debut title Coven of the Chicken Foot, during The Game Awards.

The dungeons have been plundered and the monsters long slain. As the heroes move on, an elderly witch quietly gets to work. Coven of the Chicken Foot is a single-player adventure about the building of a bond between an elderly witch named Gertie and a peculiar creature, who must learn to work together to fulfill an oath. As their trust deepens, a dark revelation of what they’re up against will make them question their commitment to the oath and to each other.

Set in a stylized world that winks at the tropes of traditional fantasy adventures, this emotionally-rich, charming-yet-dark creature puzzle-platformer invites players to reconsider who the real “heroes” are, and how easily stories shift when told from the margins. As Gertie, players venture into dark dungeons, lush forests, catacombs of fallen heroes, and mucky bogs that kill all those that dare enter. Gertie is not your typical hero: She won’t be swinging swords or double-jumping her way past dangers. Instead, survival means learning to collaborate with her strange companion.

Built on pioneering technology, Wildflower Interactive has crafted a non-playable ally unlike any other; a dynamic, responsive creature that reacts and evolves its abilities and motivations throughout the player’s experience.

Key Features

  • The unlikely hero: Step into the role of an elderly woman whose resolve and care become her greatest strengths.
  • A playable relationship: Driven by innovative technology and unique companion-based gameplay, your companion observes, adapts, and develops new behaviors from how you play, reshaping traversal and solutions over time.
  • Wordless storytelling: Piece together the mystery through environments, gestures, and small choices.
  • Explore a fantasy realm: A striking visual style while exploring ancient realms, lush forestry, and torch-lit caves, that mixes storybook charm with darker undertones.

Founded by games industry veterans looking to build a small, creative, independent studio, Wildflower Interactive reflects a desire for artistic freedom and innovation beyond the constraints of AAA. Building on lessons from companion systems through The Last of Us and Uncharted, Coven of the Chicken Foot represents a new evolution in interactive relationships.

“Wildflower Interactive is built on the notion of pushing myself creatively and working with like-minded creative people, driven by a strong desire to continue the conversation about what kind of experiences video games can deliver,” said Bruce Straley, founder of Wildflower Interactive. “We’re doing that with Coven of the Chicken Foot. It nods at the fun and simplicity of old school games, while also evolving the pairing of storytelling and interactivity in a new, challenging way. I’m very proud of what we’ve built at Wildflower and can’t wait for people to explore the world we’re creating and get to know our lovable duo.”Coven of the Chicken Foot is coming to PC via Steam. Wishlist on Steam and learn more at wildflowergames.com.

About Wildflower Interactive

Wildflower Interactive is a small, creatively-driven game studio crafting story-rich, emotionally complex experiences. Led by industry veteran Bruce Straley (The Last of Us, Uncharted), the team is currently developing Coven of the Chicken Foot, which blends dark fantasy with whimsical charm. With a strong focus on player-driven discovery, the game explores the meaning of companionship, transformation, and the unsettling power of forgotten magic.

Alongside the expanded narrative, striking cinematic visuals and deep tactical gameplay systems, Solasta II introduces a distinguished cast of voice actors to bring its heroes and villains to life:

  • Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate III, Hades II) as Shadwyn
  • An ancient, unknowable force whose corruption spreads across the continent, threatening to plunge Neokos into darkness.
  • Ben Starr (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Final Fantasy XVI) as Rickard Colwall
  • The eldest of the Colwall siblings, a steadfast light in a darkening world, whose loyalty runs deeper than blood.
  • Devora Wilde (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Baldur’s Gate III) as Deorcas Colwall
  • A formidable warrior whose grief has driven her to doubt her faith, leading her down a path of darkness.
  • Ellen Thomas (Arcane) as Anabasia
  • A charismatic and manipulative leader, whose silver tongue is as dangerous as any sword.

Staying true to its tabletop roots, Solasta II perfects upon Tactical Adventures’ signature combat design, implementing the 2024 SRD ruleset to deliver the definitive D&D experience to truly capture the spirit of sitting around the table with friends, dice in hand.
