Experience Chess Like Never Before in this Asymmetric Roguelike

Once A Pawn A King leaves Early Access soon!

Developer Clover Bite, alongside publishing platform indie.io, are thrilled to announce the full release date of Once A Pawn A King, a turn-based strategy roguelike that reimagines the classic game of chess. Releasing into 1.0 on June 15th, players can immerse themselves in a world where chess meets chaos, challenging them to adapt and strategize on fractured boards.

Once A Pawn A King invites players into a world where the rules of chess are twisted and the board itself is broken. As a player, you will gather a party of chess pieces, each with unique movements and abilities, to battle through an ever-shifting castle. The objective is clear: rescue the beloved Black King from the tyrannical White King. This game combines classic chess strategy with unpredictable roguelike elements, pushing players to experiment and outthink a game that no longer plays by its own rules.

The game sets itself apart with its asymmetric approach, where no prior knowledge of chess theory is required. Instead, Once A Pawn A King focuses on accessibility, allowing players to learn by playing and adapting to unexpected situations. Each run is a unique experience, with randomized boards and endless possibilities for strategic experimentation.

Key features include:

  • Dynamic Party Building: Assemble and upgrade a team of chess pieces, each with distinctive skills and movement options.
  • Strategic Depth: Engage in turn-based gameplay that emphasizes positioning and decision making over memorization.
  • Roguelike Elements: Experience the unpredictability of random boards and permadeath, ensuring no two games are the same.
  • Accessible Gameplay: Designed for players of all skill levels, offering a fresh take on chess without the need for extensive prior knowledge.

Players will embark on a journey where every decision matters, and losing the wrong unit can alter the course of a run. The satisfaction comes from mastering the balance between strategic planning and on-the-fly adaptation, delivering a fresh and engaging player experience with every session.

Once A Pawn A King will be available on Steam and the indie.io Store, launching with a 20% discount. It will also be released onto Indie Pass the same day as the full release. Dive into this innovative twist on a timeless classic and discover the endless strategic possibilities that await.

The Gate Must Stand, a spectacular tower defence/Survivors-like, launches on June 18th 2026

Following the huge successes of Border Pioneer and Stray Path, Yogscast Games and Gamersky Games announce the imminent PC release of their latest co-published title. Heroes can fall. But the gate must stand.

26th May 2026, Bristol UK. Develop: Star Awards nominees Yogscast Games and their co-publishing partner Gamersky Games have today announced that The Gate Must Stand – a dark fantasy action-strategy game about holding the line against impossible odds – will launch on PC via Steam on June 18th

Following the hugely successful releases of Border Pioneer and Stray Path last year, this release marks the next co-published title between Yogscast Games and Gamersky Games – and like the previous titles, The Gate Must Stand once again blends clever systemic gameplay with a highly replayable run-based structure.

Set during the final defence of the Kingdom of Belrak, players are placed in command of a desperate fortress defence against endless waves of monsters, horrors and things with far too many teeth. Part tower defence, part Survivors-like but all action roguelite, The Gate Must Stand sees players building defences, deploying troops, managing resources, and entering the battlefield themselves in order to keep the kingdom’s final gate intact for just one more night.

Each run allows players to recruit and upgrade heroes, construct defences, unlock powerful abilities and discover increasingly absurd synergies as enemy waves become larger, stranger and significantly more terrifying. Success depends not just on surviving, but on adapting, with players needing to balance short-term survival against longer-term strategy as the battlefield spirals into chaos.

Visually, the game combines a dark, fantasy atmosphere with huge on-screen battles and satisfying, chunky combat feedback, creating a constant sense of escalation as each run pushes players further towards inevitable catastrophe.

Heroes can fall. Entire squads can be wiped out. Carefully laid plans can collapse into panic and fire. But the gate must stand.

The Gate Must Stand absolutely nails that balance of glory in the face of desperation,” says Simon Byron, Managing Director, Yogscast Games. “One minute you’re calmly organising your defences, the next you’re frantically sprinting across the battlefield trying to stop everything collapsing. It’s stressful, chaotic and incredibly satisfying, and we can’t wait for players to experience it.”

Features available in the full game:

  • 4 Heroes
  • 149 Hero Skills
  • 19 base Followers
  • 38 Ultimate forms
  • 150 Follower Skills
  • 3 Stages
  • 6 Maps
  • 5 Difficulty Levels

UNDERWATER CITY BUILDER LIFE BELOW IS OUT NOW

Restore collapsing ecosystems from nature’s point of view in Megapop and Kasedo Games’ new strategy game

Leicester, UK – 26th May 2026.  Publisher Kasedo Games and Norwegian development studio Megapop are proud to announce that Life Below is out now on Steam for PC.

Life Below is a reef-building strategy game where players grow coral ecosystems, attract wildlife, and help life return to an ocean under pressure. Inspired by real marine biology, the game offers a fresh take on the city-builder genre – one seen from nature’s point of view.

Rather than focusing on endless expansion and extraction, Life Below asks players to nurture living systems where every species plays a role. As reefs grow and biodiversity increases, players must carefully balance fragile ecosystems against invasive species, rising temperatures, devastating hazards and the unpredictable forces of the sea.

Watch the Life Below launch trailer below

Following a warmly received Steam demo, strong player feedback, and as a winner at the Unity Awards 2025, Life Below launches with a teeming selection of marine species, atmospheric original music by composer Julie Buchanan, and narrative design by acclaimed game writer Rhianna Pratchett.

Most city builders are built around endless expansion and consumption,” says Lise Lie, Game Director on Life Below. “With Life Below, we wanted to explore a different kind of growth, one where the goal is to help an ecosystem flourish instead. Seeing players become emotionally invested in coral reefs and marine life has been incredibly meaningful for everyone working on Life Below.”

Launching alongside the game is a meticulously crafted Special Edition, as well as a Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) Supporter Pack, where all revenue goes directly toward supporting ocean conservation.

Life Below is available now via Steam and players can join the community on Discord

Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault 2026: Samuel “Sasmis” Sanin Ortiz Claims Back-to-Back Titles

Paris, FranceMay, 2026 – The Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault 2026 Finals took place this Saturday, May 23, at the Tenniseum auditorium in the heart of Roland-Garros, in front of a packed crowd gathered for Yannick Noah Day. After several hours of high-level competition on Tennis Clash, Samuel Sanin Ortiz “Sasmis” (COL) successfully defended his title by defeating Eugen Mosdir “AreidY” (GER) (10-6, 10-5, 10-6) at the end of a historic edition. With nearly 11.5 million matches played, the qualification phase brought together more than 561,000 players from 221 territories worldwide between March and April. The event, more than ever, confirms its status as the global benchmark for competitive eTennis.

Already crowned champion in 2025, the Colombian player made history this year by becoming only the second player ever to win back-to-back Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault titles. Consistent throughout the two-day competition, he handled the pressure of an exceptionally stacked field to ultimately triumph in front of the Parisian crowd.

Coming back as defending champion changes everything mentally. The first time, I was inexperienced; this year, the level of competition was much higher, and winning the title again was a real challenge. But beyond the trophy, the experience we get to live here is simply incredible,” said Samuel Sanin Ortiz “Sasmis”.

The competition officially opened on Saturday, May 23, with words of support for the e-athletes from FFT President Gilles Moretton. Hosting the French broadcast, Laure Valée brought her energy and expertise from the biggest international esports stages. Joined by Quento and Benny “GP365”, former Tennis Clash world No.1, they immersed viewers in every rally while highlighting the tactical depth of the game.

This final perfectly illustrated the meeting point between esports and tennis. The event brought together talents from all over the world and delivered an incredible show for the community. It’s a great reward for everyone helping Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault grow year after year. I hope to be back next year!” said Laure Valée.

Following the Swiss Stage played the previous day, the eight finalists were split into two teams based on their results and the captains’ selections: Gilles Simon, former world No.6 and winner of 14 ATP titles, and Benoît Paire, former Top 20 ATP player and three-time ATP title winner. Defending champion Samuel Sanin Ortiz “Sasmis” (COL), Anindya Lestari “Anindya” (IDN), Hizir Balkanci “Hizir” (TUR), and Stéphane Dubouloz “SJWFast” (FRA) joined Team Gilles Simon, while Team Benoît Paire featured 2024 champion Alessandro Bianco “ΔLEX” (ITA), Francisca Oisel “Kira” (CHI), Victor Ionescu “puNki” (ROU), and Eugen Mosdir “AreidY” (GER).

“This edition showed just how much eTennis continues to grow. I was impressed by the level of play and the commitment shown by the finalists. Seeing so much passion around Roland-Garros, both on court and behind a controller, is extremely encouraging for the future of the discipline,” said Gilles Simon.

Honestly, I had an amazing time! There was intensity, entertainment, and a fantastic atmosphere. The players delivered incredible matches. I also really enjoyed facing Gilles!” added Benoît Paire.

The opening team phase lived up to expectations, with players showing incredible chemistry under the cheers of the crowd, their teammates, and their captains. Colombian star Sasmis ultimately secured Team Gilles Simon a spot in the Playoffs Winner Bracket, while Team Benoît Paire had no room for error starting their run in the Loser Bracket.

The individual stage then took center stage with a double-elimination bracket where every loss could prove decisive. The start of the Playoffs saw one of the tournament favorites, 2024 champion ΔLEX, eliminated by Romanian player PuNki in a dominant 2-0 victory. French hopeful SJWFast was unable to overcome the talented Indonesian player Anindya before falling to AreidY in the Loser Bracket.

The intensity inside the Roland-Garros auditorium reached new heights as the competition moved into the semifinals, now played in BO5 format (best-of-five). In the Winner Bracket, the first semifinal featured Sasmis against Anindya in one of the day’s most anticipated clashes, eventually won by the unshakable Colombian. The Loser Bracket semifinal saw AreidY qualify for the ultimate showdown, denying the Indonesian player a final shot at the podium. For the second consecutive year, the German competitor — known for competing on tablet — pulled off the remarkable feat of battling all the way through the Loser Bracket.

In a true rematch of the 2025 edition, the Grand Final once again featured AreidY versus Sasmis. An intense showdown driven by the energy of the crowd. Meeting for the second time that day, one player was determined to defend his crown while the other sought revenge. Sasmis immediately imposed his pace in the rallies, relying on his experience and exceptional composure to stay in control throughout the match. After a final hard-fought set (10-6, 10-5, 10-6), the Colombian star completed an extraordinary run to retain his Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault title without dropping a single set during the Playoffs.

Dropping his game face at last, Samuel Sanin Ortiz “Sasmis” lifted the trophy with the warm smile that defines him, becoming only the second player in history to win two consecutive editions of the competition.

2026 also marked a new milestone in the international development of Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault. For the first time ever, the competition was broadcast live on the France TV Sport digital platform, as well as in English on the official Roland-Garros YouTube channel, and in Brazil on Disney+ and ESPN’s YouTube channel. Brandon Smith handled the English commentary while content creator Tênis Além do Óbvio brought the action to Portuguese-speaking audiences.

With record-breaking participation, an even higher level of gameplay, and unprecedented international coverage, Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault continues its expansion and further establishes its ability to unite the worlds of tennis and gaming in a unique immersive experience. Supported by Renault and Mastercard, the competition keeps writing its story and more than ever stands out as a major event on the global mobile esports calendar.

The initial team stage is returning in 2026, followed by a singles double-elimination bracket. It will take place on Friday, 22 and Saturday, 23 May 2026 in the Roland-Garros Tenniseum Auditorium. LUMENTALE: MEMORIES OF TREY UNLEASHES ITS MAGIC ON PC AND NINTENDO SWITCH TODAY!

Beehive Studios’ delightful monster collector RPG takes players on a magical adventure of creature collecting and battling.

Tuesday, 26th May 2026, Milan, Italy – Colourful, monster-collecting RPG adventure, LumenTale: Memories of Trey launches on Steam and Nintendo Switch* today, Team17 and developer Beehive Studios have announced. A magical story of exploration, creature collecting (and battling), customising, and crafting, the game follows Trey, a young hero who awakens in the enchanting world of Talea with no memories, and sets out on a journey to uncover the truth.

LumenTale: Memories of Trey’s story of adventure and discovery sees players encounter and capture Animon, magical creatures imbued with Anivis, an powerful energy that gives them the ability to affect the emotions and soul of every living being in Talea. As players recruit more of the 140 Animon types to Trey’s party through capture or turn-based PvE and PvP battles, they’ll leverage their abilities and skills to secure victory from 1v1 duels up to epic 4v4 showdowns.

Each Animon species belongs to one of five attribute groups that relate to a different emotion and can be utilised in battle with different strategies to secure victory. For example, while the pure serenity of the ‘Sereum’ Animon can give a boost to the chance of a critical hit, those with the ‘Horrens’ attribute strike fear into the hearts of opponents, empowering Trey with the potential to defeat them in one swift attack.

Providing a change of pace to Trey’s adventuring is The Anispace, an ‘other realm’ where players can train their collected Animon and create their ideal home by crafting and purchasing a range of furniture from vendors. Spending more time with their new creature friends in The Anispace strengthens the bonds between Trey and the Animon, enabling them to battle foes with increased effectiveness.

Key features

  • Travel an expansive world: Journey across the rich and cultural world of Talea, filled with secrets, quests and regions as unique and diverse as the Animon you encounter.
  • Collect and train Animon: Discover and capture 140 Animon, each with elemental affinities and assigned one of five different emotional attributes that can offer advantages in battle.
  • Unique art cards: Increase the chances of finding your perfect Animon, or the rare Lost variants, to build the ultimate team. Trade these locally or online through the Animon Trade Station
  • Cooking and crafting: Rest at fountains throughout the world to cook food from found and bought recipes, and craft resources to support your journey.
  • The Anispace: Train your Animon in the Anispace, a dedicated area offering a change of pace from adventure. Craft or purchase furniture from local vendors and customise it to make the perfect home for your creatures.

LumenTale: Memories of Trey is available as a Standard Edition, a Deluxe Edition (featuring the base game and deluxe DLC) on both Steam and Nintendo Switch, and the Steam-only Lumen Edition (featuring the base game, deluxe DLC, and both the digital soundtrack and artbook). Players who buy LumenTale: Memories of Trey over the next month will also receive the ‘Early Adopter Offering’ DLC, featuring an in-game furniture set, Anispace cosmetics, and digital tradeable art cards.

*LumenTale: Memories of Trey is backwards compatible on Nintendo Switch 2.

Tomo: Endless Blue Launches on Kickstarter With First Gameplay Trailer

A procedural RPG where no two players will ever explore the same world.

Paris, France – May 26, 2026 – Indie studio Onibi, founded by veterans from Fallguys, Fortnite, Baldur’s Gate 3 and League of Legends, today launched the Kickstarter campaign (link to be included in your publications) for Tomo: Endless Blue alongside the game’s first pre-alpha gameplay trailer. Tomo: Endless Blue is an open-world voxel (short for “volumetric pixel”)  RPG that generates a unique world for every player. Villages, cultures, characters, dialogue, quests, and stories are all procedurally generated and run entirely offline.

The first trailer, a cinematic collaboration with Ai Higuchi (Attack on Titan: The Final Season) and Cécile Corbel (Arrietty, Studio Ghibli), reached 1.8 million views and became one of the most-watched AA indie game trailers of 2025. The second trailer shifts from emotion to action: this is what you actually play.

Backers get early access up to a year before public release, exclusive rewards, and a standalone prequel set 800 years before the main story.

Back the project here

Please include the above Kickstarter campaign link to your publications.

Not just a procedural world. A procedural RPG.

Most procedurally generated games stop at terrain. Tomo: Endless Blue generates the entire RPG around each player: villages with their own architecture and inhabitants, cultures with distinct beliefs, NPCs with individual personalities and dialogue, quests that emerge from each world’s state, and a narrative arc that adapts to the player’s journey while leading toward a shared ending.

Two players exploring the Endless Blue will discover different islands, meet different people, hear different stories, and uncover different histories. All generation runs locally on the player’s device. No internet connection required.

Tomo and physics at the heart of the gameplay

Tomo companions across every part of the game. Players capture Tomo by studying their behavior, using terrain, bait, traps, or combat. Tomo react intelligently: they act in groups, respond to player actions, and flee when they sense danger. Training and completing bespoke challenges unlocks branching skill trees . Outside combat, Tomo farm, build, gather, terraform, automate crafting, and power machines.

Real-time combat with direct control. Players switch between their character and a Tomo companion, combine abilities, and use the destructible voxel terrain to improvise. Every encounter is a puzzle of positioning, timing, and creativity.

Physics-based voxel building. Players build homes, boats, vehicles, machines, and contraptions from blocks that obey real physics. What you build isn’t decorative: it can move, float, break, transport, and fight. The trailer shows players sailing player-built ships through storms, with every plank responding to the ocean’s physics in real time.

Multiplayer at scale, with networked physics. Every block, vehicle, and contraption is simulated consistently across every connected player. The trailer demonstrates this with a multiplayer naval battle where player-built ships clash in real time. There’s no hard limit on players per server. Players can run their own server or join hosted ones , and the architecture scales with the hardware.

A separate creative mode

Alongside story mode, Tomo: Endless Blue ships with a dedicated creative mode. The same procedural systems that build the game’s world are exposed to players as tools:

  • Minecraft and Unity imports. Bring buildings, maps, and Unity objects directly into the game.
  • Prompt-based world creation. Describe what you want, from islands and buildings to villages and stories, and the game helps generate a foundation you can shape and edit.
  • No-code minigame tools. Design, build, and share minigames without writing code.
  • Modding API. Customize, expand, and reshape the game. The architecture was built for modding from the ground up.

“The first trailer showed a feeling. This one shows a world,” said Benjamin Devienne, CEO of Onibi“As kids, the games we loved always felt bigger in our imagination than what was actually on screen. With Tomo, we set out to build the world we thought we were playing back then: an ocean of islands, villages, creatures, and stories that no two players will experience in the same way. Every island has its own history, beliefs, tensions, and secrets. That is the game we always wanted to make. This trailer shows it for the first time.”

Tomo: Endless Blue is available to wishlist on Steam!

CrossCode, Alabaster Dawn, and SHADE Protocol Announce New Indie Game Collaboration

Radical Fish Games and Little Legendary reveal a special collaboration between the worlds of CrossCode, Alabaster Dawn, and the upcoming cyber-fantasy Metroidvania SHADE Protocol ahead of its Kickstarter launch on June 4, 2026

May 26, 2026 – Radical Fish Games and Little Legendary are excited to announce a new collaboration between CrossCode, Alabaster Dawn, and SHADE Protocol (Steam), revealed through a new video.

The collaboration brings together three fast-paced, pixel-art action RPG worlds known for stylish combat, expressive characters, and a deep love for strange, spectacular worlds. Fans can get their first look at the collaboration in the reveal video, which will debut alongside the announcement.

The reveal also arrives shortly before SHADE Protocol’s Kickstarter campaign launches on June 4, 2026, giving players a first look at one of the collaborations and surprises planned around the game’s upcoming community campaign.

SHIRAKUMO Nagi, original composer from CrossCode and Alabaster Dawn, crafted the beautiful track for this Collab Teaser Trailer. He returns as the lead composer for Alabaster Dawn and we hope to bring him in for guest tracks into SHADE Protocol as part of our Kickstarter goals!

CrossCode and Alabaster Dawn represent so much of what we love about indie games: depth, charm, mechanical creativity, and a clear artistic identity,” said Kendall Quinones, Game Director at Little Legendary. “To have SHADE Protocol connected to those worlds in any way is incredibly meaningful for us. We are huge fans of Radical Fish Games, and we cannot wait for players to see what we have been working on together.

The reveal video will offer a first glimpse at how the collaboration connects the games, with more details to be shared following the announcement.

SHADE Protocol is an upcoming 2D cyber-fantasy Metroidvania where players take control of Zura, a shield-wielding heroine fighting through a world of music, machines, memory, and loss. The game features fast-paced action combat, a system of instrument-based weapons, and reality-bending abilities that let players cut, shift, and reshape the world around them.

CrossCode, developed by Radical Fish Games, is a critically acclaimed 2D action RPG known for its fast combat, puzzle-heavy dungeons, charming characters, and retro-inspired pixel art. Alabaster Dawn, also from Radical Fish Games, is the studio’s new action RPG currently in Early Access, set in a world recovering from ruin and featuring exploration, elemental combat, and deep progression systems.

The collaboration will be officially revealed on May 25, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET / 9:00 AM PT / 5:00 PM BST / 6:00 PM CEST, ahead of SHADE Protocol’s Kickstarter launch on June 4, 2026.

Key Features

  • Dynamic Combat System – Mix precision melee combat with specialized Instruments, executing devastating combos, parries, and counters. Swap between DAWN and SHADE modes to adapt to different playstyles in real-time.

  • Unique Defensive Mechanics – Perfectly timed parries and counters restore Echo, a vital energy source for powerful Instrument attacks and defensive maneuvers.
  • Instruments – Weapons That Sing – Wield an arsenal of musical weapons, including the Twilight Spear, Sunrise Great Axe, and Midnight Chakram, each with distinct combat and exploration abilities.
